We identified S9940, a novel microbial metabolite from Streptomyces spp., to inhibit the release of neurotransmitter from PC12 cells. S9940 is an inhibitor of trifiated norepinephrine ([$^{3}H$]-NE) release in high $K^+$ buffer solution containing ionomycin, indicating that S9940 inhibits neurotransmitter release after the influx of $Ca^{2+}$ ions. We also examined the effect of S9940 on $\beta-glucuronidase$ release from guinea pig neurophils and the effect on the neurite extension of PC12 cells and rat hippocampal neurons. As a result, S9940 inhibited $\beta-glucuronidase$ release: when treated with $5{\mu}g/ml$ of S9940, which prevented [$^{3}H$]-NE release, the inhibition of neurite extension for both PC12 cells and rat hippocampal neurons was observed.
Structural changes of an iron phthalocyanine (FePC) monolayer induced by adsorption and externally applied potential on high area carbon surface have been investigated in situ by iron K-edge X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) in 0.5 M $H_2S0_4.$ Fine structures shown in the X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) for microcrystalline FePC decreased upon adsorption and further diminished under electrochemical conditions. Fe(II)PC(-2) showed a 1s ${\rightarrow}$ 4p transition as poorly resolved shoulder to the main absorption edge rather than a distinct peak and a weak 1s ${\rightarrow}$ 3d transition. The absorption edge position measured at half maximum was shifted from 7121.8 eV for Fe(lI)PC(-2) to 7124.8 eV for $[Fe(III)PC(-2)]^+$ as well as the 1s ${\rightarrow}$ 3d pre-edge peak being slightly enhanced. However, essentially no absorption edge shift was observed by the 1-electron reduction of Fe(Il)PC(-2), indicating that the species formed is $[Fe(II)PC(-3)]^-$. Structural parameters were obtained by analyzing extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) oscillations with theoretical phases and amplitudes calculated from FEFF 6.01 using multiple-scattering theory. When applied to the powder FePC, the average iron-to-phthalocyanine nitrogen distance, d(Fe-$N_p$) and the coordination number were found to be 1.933 $\AA$ and 3.2, respectively, and these values are the same, within experimental error, as those reported ( $1.927\AA$ and 4). Virtually no structural changes were found upon adsorption except for the increased Debye-Wailer factor of $0.005\AA^2$ from $0.003\AA^2.$ Oxidation of Fe(II)PC(-2) to $[Fe(III)PC(-2)]^+$ yielded an increased d(Fe-Np) (1 $.98\AA)$ and Debye-Wailer factor $(0.005\AA^2).$ The formation of $[Fe(II)PC(-3)]^-$, however, produced a shorter d(Fe-$N_p$) of $1.91\AA$ the same as that of crystalline FePC within experimental error, and about the same DebyeWaller $factor(0.006\AA^2)$.

This paper presents the development of RFID educational system based on using 900MHz air interface between the reader and the active tag. The software of reader and the active tag is developed on embedded environment, and the software of PC controlling the reader is based on window OS operated as the server. The AT89C51ED2 VLSI chip is used for the processor of the reader and the active tag. As the development environment, Keil compiler is used for the reader and the active tag of which the programing language is C. The visual C language of the visual studio on the PC activated as the server is used for development language. To verify the function of the system, PC gets the tag's identification number through the reader and send the data to with the active tag memory a certain contents as "wite" operation. Finally the data written from the active tag's memory is sent to the PC via the reader as "read" operation and compare the received data with one already sent to the tag.

Ultra thin films of Tetra-3-hexadecylsulphamoylcopperphthalocyanine(HDSM-CuPc) were formed on various substrates by Langmuir-Blodgett method, where HDSM-CuPc was synthesized by attaching long-chain alkylamine(hexa-decylamine) to CuPc. The reaction product was identified with FT-IR, UV-visible absorption spectroscopies, elemental analysis and thin layer chromatography. The formation of Ultrathin Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) films of HDSM-CuPc was confirmed by FT-IR and UV-visible spectroscopies. A quartz piezoelectric crystal coated with LB films of HDSM-CuPc was examined as a gas sensor for $N0_2$ gas. HDSM-CuPc LB films were transferred to a quartz crystal microbalance(QCM) in the form of Z-type multilayers. Response characteristics of film-coated QCM to $NO_2$ gas concentrations over a range of $100{\sim}600ppm$ have been tested with a thickness of $5{\sim}20$ layers of HDSM-CuPc. Changes in frequency by adsorption of $NO_2$ were increased With the number of LB layers and $NO_2$ concentration, but the response time was slow.

PC based DVR replaces existing analog CCTV system therefore expands the field and DVR is used for monitoring and security so it requires exact time(clock). But DVR system can't maintains exact clock causing several reasons. For providing exact time information we should use additional system. For economical and usable environment, using GPS system is most suitable suggested solution than use WAN(Wide Area Network). Therefore in this paper for analysis the result of PC based DVR's system clock using GPS system, 1) clock source receiving module that receives the clock form GPS satellite and 2) GPSW H/W units that provide clock source to PC Based DVR 3)Daemon software named PCSW which adjust PC's clock so system could reduced the clock difference with UTC clock and measured the result.

The efficacies of several entomopathogenic nematodes of Steinernema and Heterorhabditis spp. were examined against tobacco cutworm, Spodoptera litura Fabricius. H. bacteriophora HY showed 100% mortality after 20 h against 2nd instar of tobacco cutworm. In the case of 3-4th instar, S. carpocapsae PC, H. bacteriophora HY and S. monticola CR showed 100% mortality after 47 h. In the case of 5-6th instar, S. carpocapsae PC proved more effective than the others. Generally, the number of nematodes harvested as their size decreased. Also, the highest number of nematodes was obtained in the 5-6th instar of S. litura by H. bacteriophora HY, showing about $1.3{\times}10^6$ nematodes per larva. In vitro cultured S. carpocapsae PC showed 100% mortality after 73 h against 5-6th instar tobacco cutworm, indicating that nematodes produced in vitro can be potentially used for the biological control of S. litura instead of nematodes in vivo.
Re(≡NC6H5)(PPh3)2CI3, I, reacted with, 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane (DPPE) to give fac-Re(≡NC6H5)(DPPE)CI3, II. The product has been characterized by 1H-NMR, elemental analysis, and X-ray crystallography. II Crystalizes in the monoclinic space group Pc, with cell parameters a=11.083(3)Å, b=10.930(1)Å, c=14.081(2)Å, β=108.37(2)°, Z=2. Least-squares refinement of the structure led to a R(wR2)factor of 0.0254(0.0607) for 2888 unique reflections of I>2σ(I) and for 352 variables.
In order to establish a useful cell culture system for T gondii we compared the degree of proliferation of T gondii tachyzoites among 8 different cell lines: 2 kinds of normal animal cells (MDCK-canine kidney cells; Vero-monkey kidney cells) and 6 kinds of human tumor cells (A 549, PC 14-lung cancer cells; SNU 1, SNU 16. Mlm 45-stomach cancer cells; HL-60-promyelocytic leukemia cells), through morphological observation and 3H-uracil uptake assay. The degree of susceptibility to infection with T gondii tachyzoites was highest in A 549 and PC 14 cells, medium in Vero, HL-60, MDCK and SNU 1, and lowest in SNU 16 and MBm 45 cells. The kinetics of T gondii multiplication during the post-Infection 60 hours were higllly dependent upon the dose of tachyzoites administered and the duration among the 8 tested fur the growth and multiplication of T gondii in vitro.
The behavior on the solvent extraction of heavy rare earths (HRE) by using PC88A was confirmed to demonstrate the possibility of recovery on the HRE from industrial wastewater, which consist of low concentration rare earth. We verified the extraction behavior of the HRE through a change of equilibrium pH, extractant concentration and A/O ratio, and also confirmed the stripping behavior depending on the type of mineral acids. At equilibrium pH 1.0, extraction of rare earth (RE) was completed from 95% to 100%. In all extraction conditions, it tend to be extracted in order of high atomic number. When A/O ratio was 10/1, Yb and Tm were concentrated at the maximum and increased 6-fold and 3-fold compared to initial concentration, respectively. To confirm the stripping behavior of the RE, three mineral acids were applied to the organic phase and consequently rate of stripping was increased in order of $HNO_3$, $H_2SO_4$ and HCl.
We examined the effect of indole-3-carbinol (I3C, $C_9H_9NO$), an autolysis product of a glucosinolate and a glucobrassicin in vegetables, on MMP-2, -9 activities and TIMP-l and -2 inductions via microtubule-associated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway in prostate cancer cell line, PC3 cells. Our results indicated that I3C inhibited cell growth of PC3 cells in dose (0,50, 100 ,${\mu}M$) and time (0,24,48 and 72 h) dependent manners. Using gelatin zymography for MMP activity, we demonstrated that I3C significantly decrease MMP-2 and -9 activities in PC3 cells. We also observed that I3C decreased the proteins and mRNA levels of MMP-2 and -9 in PC3 cells as well. Inversely, expressions of TIMP-l and -2 protein and mRNA in PC3 cells were increased by I3C in a dose dependent manner. In another experiment, we showed that I3C inhibited PC3 cells invasiveness by using marigel invasion assay and we also found that I3C suppressed MMP transcriptional activity by MAPK signaling pathways. Taken together, our results suggest that I3C may contribute to the potential beneficial food component to prevent the cancer metastasis in prostate cancer cells. (KoreanJNutr2008; 41(3): 224~23I)
