This study was aimed to explain the essence of Hydroxylammonium hydrochloride(H.A.) effect on degummed silk fiber increasing the colour sites due to oxime generating reaction. H.A. in aqueous solution caues to increase the amount of [H+] and reduce pH values as the concentration of H.A. increases. The rate of [H+] absorption of silk fiker in acidic solution differs on the basic of solution pH and shows a specific uptake in each pH, the lower the pH of solution, the higher the amount [H+] absorption. The pH of solution after treating of silk fiber in H.A. and HCl, showed more remaining [H+] in H.A. solution due to [H+] releasing under the procedure of oxime production. Also it was revealed that in higher concentration of H.A. the reaction for oxime fixation in silk fiber carried out stonger and as a result the bigger gap with acid uptake curve appeared. FT-IR analysis of silk fiber treated with H.A. revealed the creating of intermolecular H-bond at the 2,981-2.930 cm-1, which was not appeared for nontraeted silk fibers and shows H-bond between N-OH group in oue chain and C=) group in another chain of silk protein. Colourimetry of dyed silk fiber after H.A. tratment showed that the silk fiber treated with the high concentration of H.A. compare to low concentration, absorbed more dyeing molecules and so Showed less percontage of Whiteness.

This study was conducted to investigate the leaf growth and flowering characteristics of 85 Hosta cultivars. The 85 cultivars were grown in a pot in Useful Plant Resources Center in Yangpyeong, Korea. H. 'Abiqua Blue Crinkles', H. 'Abiqua Drinking Gourd', H. 'Dancing in the Rain', H. 'Elegance', H. 'Inniswood', and H. 'Venus' were classified as a large size group (> 50 cm), while 27 cultivars including H. 'Abby', H. 'Birchwood Parky's Gold', H. 'Blue Cadet', and H. 'Blue Edge' were classified as a small size group (< 20 cm). The others were classified as a medium size groups. 79% of Hosta cultivars had leaf variegation. Leaf variegation type was divided into 5 types (standard, marginata, mediovarigata, albomaculata, striata). Among them 31 cultivars including H. 'Abby', H. 'Abiqua Moonbeam', and H. 'Atlantis' has a variegation type of marginata in the leaf. 36 cultivars including H. 'Abby', H. 'Abiqua Drinking Gourd', and H.'Abiqua Moonbeam' bloomed in late May and 9 cultivars including H. 'Black Hills', H. 'Boeun', and H. 'Fragrant Bouquet' started to flower on late August. Most flowers were below 3.0 cm in length, while H. 'Avocado' was longest on 10.0 cm. Most flowers have a lavender color group (63.5%), and 14 cultivars of Hosta showed white color group (16.5%). 12 cultivars including H. 'Blue Mouse Ears', H. 'Captain Kirk', and H. 'Fragrant Bouquet' had the fragrance in their flowers. H. 'Cherry Berry' and H. 'Revolution' had a colorful stalk, red and yellow, respectively.
Effect of temperature and initial pH were studied on the pH change of MSG solution during heating. The heating temperature and initial pH of 2% MSG solution were in the range of $100{\sim}120^{\circ}C$ and $pH\;2{\sim}9$, respectively. The results showed that the pH of MSG solution was more rapidly decreased as the temperature increased and the initial pH decreased due to pyroglutamic acid formation from MSG thermal degradation. A linear relationship was obtained between pH decreased and logarithmic value of heating time and the decreasing rate constant of pH were calculated from the slope. The pH decreased$({\Delta}pH)$ after 3 hrs of heating was 1.2 at the initial pH 4 and $120^{\circ}C$ and 0.33 at pH 5 and $120^{\circ}C$ while little pH change measured at the range of $pH\;6{\sim}9$. Activation energy calculated for pH decrease during heating was 11.77 and 22.26 kcal/mole at pH 4 and pH 5, respectively.
This study was conducted to investigate the functionality of soybean protein isolates extracted in acidic range (pH 2.0 and 3.0), neutral range (pH 7.0) and alkaline range (pH 10.0 and 12.0). The protein content of soybean protein isolates extracted at pH 3.0 was maximum (93.31%), but that of pH 7.0 was minimum (73.93%). The extraction yield of soybean protein isolates extracted at pH 3.0 was minimum (0.36%), but that of pH 12.0 was maximum (47.54%). The functionality (solubility, water absorption, oil absorption, foam capacity, foam stability, emulsion capacity and gelation) of soybean protein isolates was significantly influenced by pH of extraction medium. The soybean protein isolates extracted at pH 2.0 and 3.0 were more soluble at acidic ranges and those of pH 3.0 and 7.0 were more soluble at neutral ranges, but those of pH 2.0, 3.0, 7.0, 10.0 and 12.0 were more soluble at alkaline ranges than other ranges. The soybean protein isolates extracted at pH 2.0 and pH 12.0 gave greater water absorption, oil absorption and foam capacity than those extracted at pH 3.0, pH 7.0 and pH 10.0. And the emulsion capacity of soybean protein isolates was increased by the increase of extraction pH.
Background : pH measurement is an important test in assessing the etiology of pleurisy and in identifying complicated parapneumonic effusion. Although the blood gas analyzer is the gold standard method' for pleural pH measurement, pH meter & pH strip methods are also used for this purpose interchangably. However, the correlation among the pH data measured by the three different methods needs to be evaluated. In this study, we measured the pH of pleural fluid with the three different methods respectively and evaluated the correlation among the measured data. Methods : From August 1999 to March 2000, we measured the pleural fluid pH in 34 clinical samples with three methods-blood gas analyzer, pH meter, and pH strip. In the blood gas analyzer and pH meter methods, the temperature of pleural fluid was maintained around $0^{\circ}C$ in air-tight condition before analysis and measurement was performed within 30 minutes after collection. As for the pH strip method, the pleural fluid pH was checked in the ward immediately after tapping and in the clinical laboratory of our hospital. This part is unclear. Results : The causes of pleural effusion were tuberculosis pleurisy in 16 cases, malignant pleural effusion 5 cases, parapneumonic effusion 9 cases, empyema 3 cases, and congestive heart failure 1 case. The pH of pleural fluid (mean$\pm$SD) was 7.34$\pm$0.12 with blood gas analyser, 7.52$\pm$0.25 with pH meter, 7.37$\pm$0.16 with pH strip of immediate measurement and 6.93$\pm$0.201 with pH strip of delayed measurement. The pH measured by delayed pH strip measurement was lower than those of other methods (p<0.05). The correlation of the results between the blood gas analyzer and pH meter(p=0.002, r=0.518) and the blood gas analyzer and pH strip of immediate measurement(p<0.001, r=0.607). Conclusion : In the determination of pH of pleural fluid, pH strip method could be a simple and reliable method under immediate measurement conditions after pleural fluid tapping.
This study is to present a female high school summer blouse with high movement functionality and satisfying appearance. For the experimental research 6 subjects with closest average body shapes and their body surface was measured at beginning and after selecting a representative movement the tested uniform was worn and the appearance and movement functionality was evaluated. The results of this research are as follows. In the research with the aims to improve the sleeve designed the height in 3 types as A.H/4+3, A.H/4+2, A.H/4+1 and their evaluation showed that in the order of best appearance was A.H/4+2, A.H/4+1, A.H/4+3. In the order of best comfort was A.H/4+2, A.H/4+3, A.H/4+1 and the best order for movement functionality was A.H/4+1, A.H/4+2, A.H/4+3. Additional height types designed produced from elastic materials were A.H/4+3, A.H/4+2, A.H/4+1 and the resulting order of appearance was A.H/4+3, A.H/4+2, A.H/4+1, order of comfort was A.H/4+3, A.H/4+2, A.H/4+1 and the order of movement functionality was A.H/4+1, A.H/4+2, A.H/4+3. Integrating these results shows that in using the same concurrent materials, the experiment pattern of setting the sleeve height as A.H/4+2 was the best while in using elastic materials, the experiment pattern of setting the sleeve height as A.H/4+3 was the best.

Pattern grading is a technique used to increase or decrease the size of a garment pattern according to the measurements in a given size chart. The original pattern is graded and laid out for cutting before mass production. This study tried to classify body types for pattern grading of jacket by applying a concept of "drop"defined as the difference between chest girth and waist girth and the difference between hip girth and waist girth for pants. Data were collected through the stratified sampling method. 138 subjects were selected out of 1,290 subjects of our sample population. Findings were as follows : 1) For pattern grading of jacket, the cell with the chest girth of 96cm and the waist girth of 87cm had the highest frequency rate and body type was 87H type and the coverage of this type was 9.52%. Then, the size specification 87-96 was the center of distribution. H type had seven ones such as 72H, 75H, 78H, 81H, 84H. 87H and 90H. H type had 33 observations and frequency ratio of 26.19%. Same types could be graded up and down from the reference size for the age group. And this reference size became to the starting point for developing the grading system. 2) For pattern grading of pants, fatty types, H10 type had six ones such as 80H10. 82H10, 84H10, 86H10, 88H10 and 90H10. H10 type had 28 observations and frequency ratio of 20.29%. H6 type had 6 ones such as 84H6, 86H6, 88H6, 90H6. 92H6 and 94H6. H6 type had 27 observations and frequency ratio of 19.57%. If lower body types were classified as same ones, these types could be graded up and down proportionately.
The stability difference of metmyoglobin in $H_2O$ and $D_2O$ at pH 5.7 and pH 7.0 toward pressure denaturation is studied. Metmyoglobin is denatured in $D_2O$ at smaller pressure than in $H_2O$. The stability difference in $H_2O$ and $D_2O$ is more pronounced at pH 5.7 than at pH 7. The main reasons for the stability difference in $H_2O$ and $D_2O$are the difference in positive charge due to $H^+$and $D^+$ binding to the protein in $H_2O$ and $D_2O$, and the structural change that accompany deuteration.
Let G be a group and X be a nonempty set and H be a subgroup of G. For a given ${\phi}_G\;:\;G{\times}X{\rightarrow}X$, a group action of G on X, we define ${\phi}_H\;:\;H{\times}X{\rightarrow}X$, a subgroup action of H on X, by ${\phi}_H(h,x)={\phi}_G(h,x)$ for all $(h,x){\in}H{\times}X$. In this paper, by considering a subgroup action of H on X, we have some results as follows: (1) If H,K are two normal subgroups of G such that $H{\subseteq}K{\subseteq}G$, then for any $x{\in}X$ ($orb_{{\phi}_G}(x)\;:\;orb_{{\phi}_H}(x)$) = ($orb_{{\phi}_G}(x)\;:\;orb_{{\phi}_K}(x)$) = ($orb_{{\phi}_K}(x)\;:\;orb_{{\phi}_H}(x)$); additionally, in case of $K{\cap}stab_{{\phi}_G}(x)$ = {1}, if ($orb_{{\phi}_G}(x)\;:\;orb_{{\phi}H}(x)$) and ($orb_{{\phi}_K}(x)\;:\;orb_{{\phi}_H}(x)$) are both finite, then ($orb_{{\phi}_G}(x)\;:\;orb_{{\phi}_H}(x)$) is finite; (2) If H is a cyclic subgroup of G and $stab_{{\phi}_H}(x){\neq}$ {1} for some $x{\in}X$, then $orb_{{\phi}_H}(x)$ is finite.
The influences of pH on hydrogen production were also investigated over the pH range from 4.1 to 8.0 at HRT 10 hours. The hydrogen content for the produced gas was changed from 41 to 71% with corresponding pHs throughout this experiment. The produced hydrogen/carbon dioxide ratio was not vary significantly up to 6.0, then steepenly increased with increases in the pH. The maximal hydrogen yield was found to be 3.16 $\ell$/g sucrose at pH 5.0. Acetate production yield increased with increased pH, but butyrate production yield decreased with increased pH. Biomass yield increased with increased pH.
