A location estimation algorithm based on the sea-surface beacon is proposed in this paper. The beacon is utilized to provide ultrasonic signals to the underwater vehicles around the beacon to estimate precise position of underwater vehicles (ROV, AUV, Diver robot), which is named as USBL (Ultra Short Baseline) system. It utilizes GPS and INS data for estimating its position and adopts DWT (Discrete Wavelet Transform) de-noising filter and UKF (Unscented KALMAN Filter) elaborating the position estimation. The beacon system aims at estimating the precise position of underwater vehicle by using USBL to receive the tracking signals. The most important one for the precise position estimation of underwater vehicle is estimating the position of the beacon system precisely. Since the beacon is on the sea-waves, the received GPS signals are noisy and unstable most of times. Therefore, the INS data (gyroscope sensor, accelerometer, magnetic compass) are obtained at the beacon on the sea-surface to compensate for the inaccuracy of the GPS data. The noises in the acceleration data from INS data are reduced by using DWT de-noising filter in this research. Finally the UKF localization system is proposed in this paper and the system performance is verified by real experiments.
This paper proposes an optimal ARS control of a two-wheel mobile inverted pendulum robot. Conventional researches are highly concentrated on the robust control of a mobile inverted pendulum on the flat ground, $i.e.$, mostly focus on the compensation of gyroscope signals. This newly proposed algorithm deals with a climbing control of a slanted surface based on the dynamic modeling using the conventional structure. During the climbing control of the robot, unexpected disturbance forces are essentially caused by the irregular contact force which comes from the irregular contact angle between the wheel and the terrain. The disturbances have effects on the optimal posture of the mobile robot to compensate the slanted angle. Therefore the dynamics equations through physical interpretation are derived for the selection of optimum climbing posture through ARS. Also using the ultrasonic sensor the slope information is obtained to compensate for the force of gravity. The control inputs are dynamically adjusted to climb up the slanted surface effectively. The proposed algorithm is demonstrated through the real experiments.
With regards to heading estimation using gyroscope and magnetometer signals, magnetic disturbance added in the magnetometer signals is a main degradation factor in the estimation accuracy. Although there are a number of existing mechanisms that may properly compensate for the magnetic disturbances, they are designed to react only to the magnetic disturbances, but not to the time derivative of disturbances. Note that the sensors may experience abrupt changes in the magnetic disturbances, particularly for ambulatory applications. This paper proposes a magnetic disturbance model-embedded heading estimation filter for time-varying magnetic environments. The proposed magnetic disturbance model is based on a first-order Markov chain with a conditional switching technique depending on the time derivative of disturbances. Once a high amount of derivative is detected, the corrupted magnetometer signals are discarded to protect the filter from them. In our experimental results, the averaged heading error of tests was $1.46^{\circ}$, while that of the original approach without switching was $5.75^{\circ}$.
Predicting the user's reaction to the game at the stage of developing the game is important because it is related to the popularity of the game. In this paper, we propose a system that can collect and analyze game user's biometric information in a non-invasive way. To this end, we developed a mouse with skin conductance, pressure, gyroscope, and accelerometer sensor using Arduino. In order to verify the usefulness of this system, the subject was experimented with playing the first person shooter game with this mouse. We analyzed the gameplay videos recorded during Blizzard's 'OverWatch' and the bio-information collected from various sensors in the mouse.

This paper presents reconstruction analysis of vehicle trajectory using records of a developed black box, and results of validation tests. For reconstruction of vehicle trajectory, the black box records the longitudinal and lateral accelerations and yaw-rate of vehicle during a pre-defined time period before and after the accident. One 2-axis accelerometer is used for measuring accelerations, and one vibrating structure type gyroscope is used for measuring yaw-rate of vehicle. The vehicle's planar trajectory can be reconstructed by integrating twice accelerations along longitudinal and lateral directions with yaw-rate values. However, there may be many kinds of errors in sensor measurements. The causes of errors are as follows: mis-alignment, low frequency offset drift, high frequency noise, and projecting 3-dimensional motion into 2-dimensional motion. Therefore, some procedures are taken for error compensation. In order to evaluate the reliability and the accuracy of trajectory reconstruction results, the black box was mounted on a passenger car. The vehicle was driven and tested along various specified lanes. Through the tests, the accuracy and usefulness of the reconstruction analysis have been validated.

In this paper, a small and effective attitude estimation system for a humanoid robot was developed. Four small inertial sensors were packed and used for inertial measurements(3D accelerometer and three 1D gyroscopes.) An effective 3D pose estimation algorithm for low cost DSP using an extended Kalman filter was developed and evaluated. The 3D pose estimation algorithm has a very simple structure composed by 3 modules of a linear acceleration estimator, an external acceleration detector and an pseudo-accelerometer output estimator. The algorithm also has an effective switching structure based on probability and simple feedback loop for the extended Kalman filter. A special test equipment using linear motor for the testing of the 3D pose sensor was developed and the experimental results showed its very fast convergence to real values and effective responses. Popular DSP of TMS320F2812 was used to calculate robot's 3D attitude and translated acceleration, and the whole system were packed in a small size for humanoids robots. The output of the 3D sensors(pitch, roll, 3D linear acceleration, and 3D angular rate) can be transmitted to a humanoid robot at 200Hz frequency.

The availability of the GPS signal has been expanded greatly in the field of society overall through the development and construction of the GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System). Furthermore, in the military, aviation and field of space, the GPS signal is applied widely through the combination of INS consisting of gyroscope and accelerometer, IMU, AHRS with the addition of magnetic sensor. Particularly, the performance of these equipments or sensors is very important with GPS and PAR(Precision Approach Radar) in the flight control of the aircraft. This paper deals with MATLAB simulation and ROLSO(Reduced Order Luenberger State Observer) design to reduce the load of system and realize the stable lateral direction approach control in an appropriate time for reduction of the horizontal error which is importantly considered while an aircraft lands instead of the FOLSO(Full Order Luenberger State Observer) using all measurement values. Consequently, ROLSO is expected to be used for the aircraft's attitude control in the aircraft landing causing the burden to the pilots.
The attitude information of spacecraft can be obtained by the sensors attached to it using a star tracker, three-axis magnetometer, three-axis gyroscope, and a global positioning signal receiver. By using these sensors, the spacecraft can be maneuvered by actuators that generate torques. In particular, electromagnetic-torque bars can be used for attitude control and as a momentum-canceling instrument. The spacecraft momentum can be created by the current through the electrical circuits and coils. Thus, the current around the electromagnetic-torque bars is a critical factor for precisely controlling the spacecraft. In connection with these concerns, a solar-cell array can be considered to prevent generation of a magnetic dipole moment because the solar-cell array can introduce a large amount of current through the electrical wires. The maximum value of a magnetic dipole moment that cannot affect precise control is $0.25A{\cdot}m^2$, which takes into account the current that flows through the reaction-wheel assembly and the magnetic-torque current. In this study, we designed a 300-W solar cell array and presented an optimal wire-routing method to minimize the magnetic dipole moment for space applications. We verified our proposed method by simulation.
In this paper, we designed a software library that produces integrated Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) / Inertial Navigation System (INS) navigation information using the raw measurements provided by the GNSS chipset, gyroscope, accelerometer and magnetometer embedded in android smartphone. Loosely coupled integration method was used to derive information of GNSS /INS integrated navigation. An application built in the designed library was developed and installed on the android smartphone. And we conducted field experiments. GNSS navigation messages were collected in the Radio Technical Commission for Maritime Service (RTCM 3.0) format by the Network Transport of RTCM via Internet Protocol (NTRIP). As a result of experiments, it was confirmed that design requirements were satisfied by deriving navigation such as three-dimensional position and speed, course over ground (COG), speed over ground (SOG), heading and protection level (PL) using the designed library. In addition, the results of this experiment are expected to be applicable to maritime navigation applications using smart device.
