  • Gwa-du(裹肚), name of a garment, appears often from documentary records of Joseon Dynasty. It is assumed as one of the upper garments for men, and according to the record, it was worn as a set with Dan-ryung(團領), Dap-ho(搭胡), Chul-rik(帖裏), Han-sam(汗衫), pants and socks. After the Japanese Invasion of Korea in the 17th century, it changes to a shape of wrapping clothes with straps at four corners, and used to cover the stomach of a corpse like sash. From 16th-17th century, before the Japanese Invasion of Korea, the excavated costume shows a clothing which takes a role of Jegori, longer than Han-sam(汗衫) and shorter than Po(袍). In this study, this clothing is called Gwa-du(裹肚). This study examined the usage and shape of Kwa-du from some documentary records- "朝鮮王朝實錄-The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty", "禮書- Book of Manners", "宮中件記- Googjoonghalkee, recording court goods and commodities lists" and more with actual clothing. Kwa-du is presumed to have changed to men's Jegori So-chang-ui(小氅衣) after 17th century.

  • The Nemopilema nomurai is a large jellyfish attaining a weight of 200 kg and bell diameter of 2 m when fully grown. To prevent damage to this species, this study determined the acoustic characteristics of N. nomurai using frequencies 38 and 120 kHz. The CPUE of N. nomurai and the averaged SV of 38 and 120 kHz had a lower (+) correlation coefficient and relationship at 120 kHz (R=0.51) than at 38 kHz (R=0.15) was significant. In addition, the averaged SV at 120 kHz was higher than at 38 kHz. The ${\Delta}MVBS_{120-38}$ in section catches ${\geq}97.8%$ wet mass of N. nomurai was -2.2 to 5.6 dB. The ${\Delta}TS_{120-38}$ in situ TS was extracted in sections catches of only N. nomurai by FMT. It was found that the averaged in situ ${\Delta}TS_{120-38}$ were at 0.6 and 0.1 dB. Furthermore, it results showed a close relationship between the bell diameter and TS of N. nomurai. The dominance of smaller N. nomurai (11.0~20.0 cm bell diameter in the air) corresponded to a similar proportion of low TS values (-69.0~-65.0 dB). A small number of larger N. nomurai (25.0~38.0 cm bell diameter in the air) were collected, in which TS values were the highest (-62.0~-58.0 dB).

  • Clothing was excavated when the Bae's clan of Seong-san, Yeong-dong, Chung-buk in Sep. 2, 2004. The tombs that the clothing could be restored were the tombs of Bae Cheon-jo(10th generation) and the tomb of Mrs. Nam of Go-seong, the wife of Bae Sang-gyeong(1lth generation). For identifying the features and methods of sewing used for the clothing of man and woman around Po(coat in Korea in the past) in the 16th to 17th century, this study investigated 12 items from Bae Cheon-jo's tomb(Sibok, Dopo(robe), Jungchimak(outer coat with large sleeves) and Gwa-du and 5 items(Jangok(lady's cloak) and Jungchimak) from Mrs. Nam's tomb of Go-seong. For sewing, broad-stitching, hemming and even-back-stitching were used the most in that order. Furthermore, various kinds of sophisticated stitching including old flat felled seam, decorative saddle stitching and buttonhole stitch, clothing made roughly as a shroud and fabric attached on the clothing were also observed. We may not have many opportunities to understand the change of clothing in Korea from mid 16th century to mid 17th century through the clothing of father-in-law and daughter-in-law in a family. As a result, we will be able to understand the features of sewing in a family and from the 16th century to the 17th century.

  • 1. Objectives This study is purposed to find a dietary treatment of Taeyangin in the ${\ulcorner}$Sik Ryo Chan yo(食療纂要)${\lrcorner}$(1460). 2. Methods It was researched as bibliographic study with ${\ulcorner}$Sik Ryo Chan YO${\lrcorner}$ of the oldest Korean book concerned about a dietary treatment and ${\ulcorner}$Hyangyakjipseongbang(鄕藥集成方)${\lrcorner}$ ${\ulcorner}$Euibangyoochui(醫方類聚 )${\ulcorner}$ etc. 3. Results and Conclusions (1) ${\ulcorner}$Hae Dong Moon Hun Chong Rok(海東文獻總錄)${\lrcorner}$ misquoted ‘Five Vegetable(五菜)’ written in ${\ulcorner}$Sik Ryo Chan YO${\lrcorner}$ as 'One leaf(一葉)'. (2) The efficacy of persimmon, Mo Gwa, Oh Ga Pi(the root bark of various araliaceous shrubs), Crucian, Ju Du Kang, Watershied plant(Brassenia purpurea) in this book are the same or similar to those of ${\ulcorner}$Dongyi Suse Bowon${\lrcorner}$ and ${\ulcorner}$Dongmu Yugo${\lrcorner}$. But some of them are represented as having different properities in Sasang Constitutional Medicine(SCM) and ${\ulcorner}$Sik Ryo Chan YO${\lrcorner}$. For example, dried persimmon is used for the treatment of deafness, Crucian for asthma and Song Jul(松節) for bruises in ${\ulcorner}$Sik Ryo Chan Yo${\lrcorner}$ but SCM. (3) This book doesn`t have a definite expression about Sasangin, but it contains documents of clinical cases. So it seems that this book would somewhat affect to SCM after ages.
