The Accuracy Design of LM Guide System in Machine Tools (공작기계 직선 베어링 안내면의 정도 설계에 관한 연구)

  • This paper is concerned with Accuracy Design of LM Guide System in Machine Tools. Elastic deformation of bearing is calculated by Hertz contact theory and motion error of LM block is analyzed. A new algorithm using block stiffness is proposed fur the analysis of motion accuracy of the table. The best advantage of this algorithm is fast analysis speed because it isn't necessary iteration processes for satisfying equilibrium equation of the table. Motion errors of the table analyzed under artificial form error of rail theoretically and experimentally. Only one of two rails is bent by putting a thickness gauge into horizontal direction. This form error of rail is measured by gap sensor against the other rail. Then, motion errors of the table are predicted by proposed new algorithm theoretically and measured by laser interferometer. Measurements are carried out by changing the preload and thickness. The results show that the table motion errors are reduced from 1/2 to 1/60 times than form error of rail according to its height and width. And the effect of preloading is almost negligible.

  • Monorail has been classified as straddled type and suspended type. However, Inchon Wolmi Eunha rail, a center guide type first ever introduced in the world, uses a new concept Y-Beam as guide rail. Since Y-Beam takes horizontal loads of monorail through guide wheels, it is an essential structure for the safe operation along with concrete surface and steel beam which take vertical loads through main tires. This study presents the characteristic and reliability of Y-Beam and Y-Beam fixture, clamp, which are not only taking horizontal loads but also guarantying both guiding and stability of monorail and holding power supply line.

  • One of the most important aspects in multi-stage shape drawing is the proper design of the intermediate dies especially to provide adequate metal distribution. In the current study, a method for designing the intermediate dies has been developed to manufacture hollow linear motion guide rails by multi-stage shape drawing. The design method is based on the modified virtual die method. The effectiveness of the proposed design method was verified by FE-simulations and experiments using Mn55Cr carbon steel. From the results of the FE-simulations and the experiments, the proposed design method led to a drawn product with a sound shape. The dimensional tolerances of the product were within the allowable specified tolerances.

  • The Light Rail Transit (LRT) System which has medium transport capacity between subway and bus(5,000-25,000 persons per hour) is the most advanced transportation system. It has many benefits, cheap construction, operational costs through driverless and flexible route planning. Also, the rubber tired AGT (K-AGT) of various LRT has a rubber wheels and side guide. The side guide type has an many advantages. but occur a vibration and friction noise through contact between guide rail and wheel. Most of point that decreased comport is vibration thorough the guide contact. In this paper, It is purpose to improve the maximum running speed of rubber tired AGT localization bogie which is currently developed from 70km/h to 80km/h. To satisfy comport index of railway vehicle that is required in performance test. we examined coefficient of bogie suspension which is designed.

Development of an Inspection Robot Operating on a Single Square Rail Track (단일 사각 레일 주행이 가능한 감시 로봇 설계)

  • This paper proposes an inspection robot that can operate on a single square rail. Various inspection robots have been developed to identify emergency situations in industrial environments, such as those involving fires or individuals with cardiac arrest. Because the robots must operate in wide areas and long tunnels, they are designed to move along a rail installed on the ceiling. Double rail track are typically used to ensure the stability of robot movement. However, the cost for installing a double rail track is nearly two times that for a single rail track. Moreover, it is challenging to install double rail tracks while ensuring the same curvature and interval between the two rails. Therefore, in this study, an inspection robot that operate on a single square rail track is developed. To ensure stable movement in the longitudinal and lateral directions, two passive guide parts are used, and the main active wheel is allowed to move on the upper side of the square rail. The prototype was manufactured, and experiments were performed for different robot velocities.

A Study on the Development of Guide Line Measurement System in the Driving Condition (주행상태에서의 가이드라인 계측 시스템 개발에 관한 연구)

  • The handling ability of containers at the terminal strongly depends on the performance of the cargo handling system such as RTGC(Rubber Tired Gantry Crane) and RMGC(Rail Mounted Gantry Crane). This paper introduces a guide line measurement system on the operating condition, in which two camera are installed to detect the guide line. Because the line tracking is the basic technique for control system design of RTGC, it is necessary to develop a useful and reliable measurement system. If the displacement and angle of the RTGC relative to a guide line as the trajectory to follow is obtained, the position of RTGC is automatically calculated. Therefore, in this paper, a camera-based measurement system is introduced. The proposed measurement system is robust against light fluctuation and cracks of the guide line. This system consists of two camera and a PC which are installed at the lower side of the RTGC. Two edges of the guide line are detected from an input image taken by the cameras in the moving state, and these positions are determined in a Hough parameter space by using the Hough transformation method. From the experimental results, the accuracy and usefulness of the proposed system is evaluated by comparing other instruments.

Study on Cracking Causes and Patterns in Median Barrier and Guardrail Concrete in RC Bridge (콘크리트 교량 방호벽의 균열원인 및 패턴 분석에 대한 연구)

  • Concrete guide rail and median barrier are an attached RC member, however they are vulnerable to cracking due to slip form construction and large surface of member. In this study, causes and pattern of cracking are analyzed through assessment and NDT (Non-Destructive Technique) evaluation for concrete guide rail and median barrier on highway structure. For this work, analysis on drying shrinkage and hydration heat are performed considering installation period, and plastic shrinkage is also analyzed considering their environmental conditions. From the evaluation, plastic settlement around steel location, drying/ plastic shrinkage, and aggregate segregation are inferred to be the main causes of cracking in the structures. The crack causes and patterns are schematized and techniques of crack-control are suggested. Furthermore concrete guide rail/ median barrier in the bridge on the sea are vulnerable to cracking at early age so that special attentions should be paid at the stages of material selection and construction.

  • The under rail slide is the latest device to make accurate rectilinear reciprocating motion. In these day, 3-point type is used mostly for the products requiring high strength and performance such as refrigerator door guide or furniture drawer guide. However, It is all imported from foreign countries due to lack of the roll forming technique to make 3-point type under rail slide in domestic. Therefore, design and manufacturing technology for the 3-point type under rail slide are need to development through systematic study. In this paper, to make center member of 3-point ball-type under rail slide for the refrigerator doors, the roll forming modeling and simulation are performed using Shape-RF software. Tensile test is performed about SCP-1 1/2H for determine the mechanical properties of materials. Interference between the roll and the final shape are predicted from the results of the simulation ; this result show that the desirable performance and usefulness of the designed roll forming process.

  • Multi-pass shape drawing is used to manufacture long products of arbitrary cross-sectional shapes. This process allows smooth surface finishes and closely controlled dimensions of the cross-sectional shape. Tube shape drawing for hollow type products provides material savings and weight reduction. The intermediate die shapes are very important in multi-pass tube shape drawing. In the current paper, the design method for the intermediate dies in a tube shape drawing process is developed using a die offset for corner filling (DOCF) method. Underfill defects are related to the radial velocity distribution of each divided section in the deformation zone. The developed intermediate die shape design was applied to the two-pass tube shape drawing with fixed mandrel for manufacturing a hollow linear motion (LM) guide rail. The proposed design method led to uniform and steady metal flow at each divided section. FE-simulations and experiments were conducted to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method in multi-pass tube shape drawing process.

  • As the production of electronic goods increases, poor products increase. Smart phone lens has much probability of breakage due to vibration happened at machine during the procedure of production. At this study model of smart phone, robot installed at guide rail is applied by various load according to its mass and investigated with vibration analysis. The analysis result in this study is thought to supply the material necessary at safe design and development on manufacturing machine system of smart phone lens by assembled automation.
