Sodium(Na)과 Potassium(K) 섭취가 청소년의 혈압변화에 미치는 영향 (The effect of sodium and potassium intake on blood pressure change in Korean adolescents)

  • In order to investigate the effect of the urinary excretion of sodium and potassium on the change on blood pressure over 3 years, 668 adolescents aged 13 years living in Kangwha area were investigated in a longitudinal follow-up study. Two measurements were taken on each blood pressure (diastolic, systolic) and the average of the two readings was used in the analysis. Sodium and potassium intake were estimated by the determination of those electrolytes in 24hr urine. The mixed model regression analysis was used to identify the effect of urinary sodium and potassium on the change of blood pressure after controlling for BMI of each age. On simple bivariate analysis no relationship was found between urinary sodium excretion and systolic or diastolic blood pressure among both male and female, however, a significant positive association between urinary potassium excretion and systolic blood pressure among male. The results of mixed regression analysis showed that the body mass index (BMI) were more influential that urinary electrolytes among this study subjects. It suggested that risk factors observed from the adults, may not be identical with that of the growing aged population. After control of the BMI and age, significant association between sodium and diastolic BP among male, and association between potassium and systolic BP among female, were found. In summary, the results indicate that growth has been more influential than dietary factor on blood pressure for growing aged population.

기상요인과 버어리종 잎담배의 화학성분과의 관계 (Relationship between Weather Factors and Chemical Components of Burley Tobacco)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between weather factors during the growing season and chemical components of burley tobacco. Chemical components used in this study was from 'Farm Leaf Tobacco Test' conducted at KT&G Central Research Institute from 1987 through 2002. Data of weather factors during growing season(April to July) were collected in 6 districts measured at Korea Meteorological Adminstration(KMA). Total nitrogen content was increased from 1987 through 2002. Year to year variation of rainfall was the largest, followed by that of sunshine hour. Month to month variation of rainfall also was the largest, followed by that of mean daily air temperature. A negative correlation was found between rainfall and sunshine hour. Relative humidity(R.H.) was correlated positively with rainfall, whereas negatively with sunshine hour. The negative correlations were found between nicotine content and rainfall(in June, May$\~$June, June$\~$July, May$\~$July and average), and R.H.(in June, May$\~$June, June$\~$July, May$\~$July and average), respectively. The negative correlations were found between crude ash content and rainfall(in June and May$\~$June), and R.H.(in June, May$\~$June, June$\~$July and May$\~$July), respectively. Ether extraction content was correlated positively with mean daily air temperature(in July, June $\~$July and May$\~$July) and with sunshine hour(in July, June$\~$July and May$\~$July), but negatively with rainfall(average) and with R.H.(in April, July, June$\~$July, April$\~$June, May­July and average), respectively. Chloride content was correlated positively with sunshine hour(in May, April$\~$May, May$\~$June, April$\~$June, May$\~$July and average), but negatively with rainfall(in June, May$\~$June, June$\~$July, April$\~$June, May$\~$July and average).

Floating zone법에 의한 결정성장시 소결봉의 미세구조에 의한 영향 (Effects of microstructures of the sintered rod on the single crystal grown by the floating zone method)

  • 일반적으로 floating zone법에 의한 결정성장시에는 소결봉이 원료로서 사용되며 이러한 원료봉의 소결조건에 의해 결정성장시 안정성이 영향을 받게 된다. 그 원인은 FZ법에 의한 결정성장시 소결조건에 따른 원료봉의 미세구조의 변화가 소결봉과 융액사이의 계면형태를 변화시키기 때문이다. 본 연구에서 FZ법에 의해 $TiO_2$(rutile)과 ruby 단결정을 성장하였으며 이를 통해 소결봉의 미세구조가 FZ법에 의한 결정성장시에 용융대의 안정서에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다.$TiO_2$(rutile)과 ruby의 결정성장에 사용되는 원료봉의 소결시 소결온도가 높아지고 소결시간이 길어질수록 원료봉 중앙부와 바깥ㅂ분의 입자크기의 차이가 커져서 결국에는 그로 인하여 원료봉의 용융양상이 바뀌어졌다. FZ법에 의한 결정성장시 원료봉의 최적소결 조건은 입자의 크기가 소결봉 전영역에 걸쳐 균일하게 분포되는 것이었다. 반면 일반 적으로 중요하다고 여기는 소결봉의 porosity는 FZ법에 의한 결정성장시 영향력 있는 인자가 아니라는 점을 소결하지 않은 원료봉을 사용해 결정성장 실험을 행하여 봄으로써 확인할 수 있었다.

결막 충혈도 측정을 위한 공막 영상 분할 (Sclera Segmentation for the Measurement of Conjunctival Injection)

  • 결막 충혈은 결막염, 각막염, 포도막염 등의 안과질환의 초기 증세로서 정량적으로 평가할 수 있다면 진단과 경과 관찰에 도움이 된다. 충혈의 정량화에서 공막의 크기는 중요한 지표이지만 기존의 공막 분할 방법이 정확하지 않기 때문에 수동으로 분할하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 충혈의 정량화를 위하여 level set 방법을 이용한 공막 분할 알고리즘을 제안한다. Level set의 초기 모델은 Lab 색상 모드와 k-means 알고리즘, 기하학적인 정보를 이용하여 지정된다. 헤이시안(hessian) 분석으로 공막과 피부 사이의 골을 향상시킨 영상에 level set을 적용하였다. 제안 방법의 성능 측정을 위하여 52개의 전안부 영상에 대하여 실험하였다. 실험 결과, 제안 방법이 화소값만 이용하는 region growing이나 level set의 초기 모델로 임의의 원을 이용하는 방법보다 성능이 우수하였다. 이 논문에서 제안한 공막 분할 방법은 객관적인 충혈도 측정에서 중요한 요소 기술의 역할을 할 것이다.

실험 배합사료, 상품사료 및 생사료 공급이 육성기 조피볼락(Sebastes schlegeli)의 성장, 육질 및 조직 성상에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Different Pellets on the Growth, Flesh Quality and Histopathological Changes of growing Korean Rockfish Sebastes schlegeli)

  • This study compared the effects of diets consisting of experimental extruded pellets (EP), commercial soft extruded pellets (SEP), and raw-fish-based moist pellets (MP) on the growth, flesh quality, and histology of the Korean rockfish Sebastes schlegeli. Three replicated groups of 60 fish each (initial mean weight 152 g) were fed one of two experimental EPs (EP1 and EP2), two commercial SEPs (SEP1 and SEP2), or MP for 11 weeks. The survival, weight gain, and final mean weight of the fish did not differ significantly among the groups. The highest feed efficiency was in fish fed MP (P<0.05), and the protein efficiency ratio of fish fed MP was significantly higher than that of fish fed EP1, EP2, or SEP1, but not significantly different from that of fish fed EP2. The daily feed intake of the fish fed the EPs and SEPs was significantly higher than that of the fish fed MP (P<0.05). The condition factor, Hepatosomatic Index, and Viscerasomatic Index of the fish did not differ significantly among the groups. No notable differences in the textural properties of the dorsal muscle, plasma biochemical parameters, or histological features of the fish were observed in fish fed any diet. This suggests that extruded pellets can be used to feed growing Korean rockfish without compromising growth, flesh quality, or histopathological change in comparison to raw fish-based moist pellets.

Geographic Variation in Survival Rate and Height Growth of Pinus densiflora S. et Z. in Korea

  • This study was conducted to examine the geographic variation among provenances of Pinus densiflora in survival rate and height growth at four test plantations (Jungsun, Chungju, Naju, and Jeju). The plantations were parts of the eleven provenance trials of Pinus densiflora established by Korea Forest Research Institute in 1996. The survival rate and height growth were significantly different among test plantations at $p{\leq}0.01$. Latitude and longitude of test plantation were negatively correlated with survival rate and height growth. On the other hand, annual mean temperature, mean temperature (Nov.~Feb.), extremely low temperature (Dec.~Feb.), and annual mean growing days of test plantation were positively correlated with these two. The relationships between growth variables and geographic variables were analysed with canonical correlation analysis. A considerable amount of variation in survival rate and height growth was explained by latitude, annual mean growing days, extremely low temperature (Dec.~Feb.) and extremely high temperature (Nov.~Feb.) of provenances. It is estimated that up to 47.1% and 67.4% of the genetic variability in survival rate and height growth was attributable to the environmental variability of the provenances, respectively. The response surface curve of survival rate and height growth was plotted against latitude and longitude to examine growth performance of provenances for each test site. Generally, the local provenances showed better survival rate and height growth.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 생태체험마을 속성이 방문객의 만족에 미치는 영향을 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 전국 8개의 생태체험마을에 방문한 20세 이상의 방문객 254명과 초등학생 방문객 252명을 대상으로 분석하였다. 요인분석결과 생태체험마을의 속성은 프로그램 서비스, 시설, 마을환경으로 나타났다. 생태체험마을 방문 만족에 영향을 미치는 속성을 분석하기 위해 다중회귀분석을 실시한 결과, 생태체험마을을 방문한 성인과 초등학생의 만족을 향상시키기 위해 마을사람들의 친절성, 체험 지도자의 설명, 재미있는 프로그램, 유익한 프로그램, 맛있는 음식, 도시에서 경험할 수 없는 좋은 프로그램과 이용하기에 편리한 시설, 깨끗한 시설, 체험과 관련하여 잘 준비되고 갖추어진 시설, 다치지 않도록 안전한 시설 등이 중요함을 알 수 있다. 그리고 초등학생의 경우, 마을환경도 만족에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 아름다운 풍경, 신선하고 깨끗한 공기, 편리한 교통 등도 중요하다는 것을 알 수 있다. 생태체험마을 운영자들은 방문객의 연령을 고려한 생태체험마을의 프로그램 서비스, 시설, 마을환경에 대한 전략을 차별화하여 수립 운영할 필요가 있다.

An Insight of Meat Industry in Pakistan with Special Reference to Halal Meat: A Comprehensive Review

  • Livestock is considered central component in agricultural sector of Pakistan, provides employment to more than 8 million families. Meat and meat products holds pivotal significance in meeting dietary requirements serving as major protein source and provide essential vitamins and minerals. Globally, consumer demand is increasing for healthy, hygienic and safe meat and meat products due to growing population, income level and food choices. As, food choices are mainly influenced by region, religion and economic level. However, religion is one of the major factor to influence the food choices. In this context, halal foods a growing trend, trade estimated to cross USD $ 3 trillion and among this, meat sector contribute about US$ 600 billion. Halal meat and allied products is requirement from Muslims but it is also accepted by non-Muslims due to safe and hygienic nature, nutritious value and superior quality. Pakistan meat industry is vibrant and has seen rigorous developments during last decade as government also showed interest to boost livestock production and processing facilities to meet increasing local and global demand. The industry has potential to grow owing to its natural animal rearing capability, muslim majority country (96% of total population), improvisation of market and consumer preference towards halal meat. Current review debates Pakistan meat industry scenario, production trend, global trade as well as future potential with respect to modernization, processing, distribution and trade. The data presented here is useful for meat producers, processors and people involved in export of Pakistani meat and meat based products.

COMPARATIVE PERFORMANCE OF DAMASCUS GOATS AND CHIOS EWES IN OMAN

  • Twenty growing female Damascus (Shami) goats and twenty growing Chios ewes of two mating ages (10 and 12 months) were used to study the effect of mating age (MA) on reproductive performance (RP). In addition to (RP), The growth, milk production and nutrient requirements were also evaluated. A complete random design in a $2{\times}2$ factorial was used, with (MA) and species as the main factors. (MA) had no effects on (RP), milk production and mortality. No significant difference (p > 0.05) were observed between (MA) or between species, for age at kidding/lambing (K/L). Sheep reached puberty earlier than goats. Average age (months) at conception and at (K/L) was 15.8; 20.8 and l7.0; 22.0 for sheep and goats respectively. Body weight (BW), rather than age was the most important factor determining puberty. Both goats and ewes conceived when they reached about 67% of their mature (BW) for goats and 85% for ewes. Sheep grew faster than goats, but the latter had higher twinning (67.8% versus 25%). Chios sheep were suitable for meat and Shami goats for dairying or dual purpose systems. Nutrient requirements for growth of goats and ewes were similar with an average DM-intake of about 4% (BW); 12-13% CP and 65-69% TDN (DM-basis) of the total ration. It is recommended to breed Chios ewes at a (BW) of at least 50 kg and Shami does at 38 kg, irrespective of their age.

흉부 CT 영상에서 개선된 폐 및 폐혈관 분할과 괴사 세포 비율의 수치적 알고리즘 (Improved Lung and Pulmonary Vessels Segmentation and Numerical Algorithms of Necrosis Cell Ratio in Lung CT Image)

  • 흉부 CT 영상에서 폐 질환의 진단을 위해서 폐 분할, 폐혈관 분할과 폐 질환 부위에 대한 괴사 세포 비율의 수치적 계산을 제안 하였다. 첫 번째 단계는 흉부 CT 영상에서 3차원 레이블링 기법과 3차원 영역 성장법을 적용하여 폐와 기관지를 분리한다. 두 번째 단계는 폐혈관 분할은 1차 다항식 회귀(Polynomial Regression)를 사용한 변화율을 적용하여 분할한 다음, 잡음 제거를 실시하여 최종의 폐혈관을 분할한다. 세 번째 단계는 2단계 이미지 에서 질환 예상 인자를 발견하고, 괴사 세포의 비율을 계산하는 것이다. 질환 예상인자는 폐에 대해서 3차원 레이블링 기법을 적용하였고, 각 레이블 중심 값을 관측하여 변화가 없는 레이블을 찾는다. 이렇게 찾은 질환 예상 인자는 조영제 투입 전/후 영상을 정합한 뒤, 면적을 비교하면 폐의 괴사 세포 비율을 계산할 수 있다.
