This experiment was conducted to develop a new silage inoculant for barley at forage analysis laboratory, Grassland and Forages Division, National Institute of Animal Science, RDA from 2000 to 2002. Barley is very important crop in Korea. The great part of them is utilized as forage. Generally, it contains a lot of grains that are feed of animal, especially whole crop silage in ruminant. Efficient lactic acid bacteria were isolated from good barley silage by plating MRS agar containing 0.02% sodium azide, and assessed by growing and acid producing ability in MRS broth. Four lactic acid bacteria were selected, and were found to be Gram positive, rods and catalase negative and were identified to be Lactobacillus plantarum on the basis of the biochemical characteristics and utilization of substrates. Barley was ensiled at dough stage following treatment with four lactic acid bacteria, commercial inoculant, and no additive (control). After 2 months, B2-2 bacteria inoculated silage was lower pH and higher lactic acid content than others treatments. The Flieg's score and grade of B2-2 bacteria treated silage were higher than commercial inoculant. According to this experiment, Lactobacillus plantarum B2-2 (NLRI 201) was recommendable for good silage inoculant of whole crop barley silage.

Clubroot caused by Plasmodiophora brassicae is a widespread disease that causes serious problems in many brassica growing areas. To establish more simple and reliable clubroot screening method of Chinese cabbage to P. brassicae using soil-drenching inoculation, the development of clubroot on Chinese cabbage according to several conditions such as soil type, inoculum concentration of P. brassicae GN-1 (race 9), plant growth stage and incubation period was studied. In a commercial horticulture nursery media soil (CNS), disease severity of the seedling according to inoculum concentration increased in a dose-dependent manner, but did not in mixture of CNS and upland soil (1:1, v/v). To facilitate and acquire precise result of resistance screening of Chinese cabbage to clubroot, 10-day-old seedlings should be inoculated by drenching the spore suspension of P. brassicae to give inoculum density of $4.0{\times}10^8$ spores/pot. To develop the disease, the inoculated seedlings were incubated in a growth chamber at $20^{\circ}C$ for 3 days, and then cultivated in a greenhouse ($25{\pm}5^{\circ}C$) for five weeks. Under the optimum conditions, 25 clubroot-resistant (CR) and 3 clubroot-susceptible (CS) cultivars were tested for resistance to P. brassicae. All CR cultivars showed very clear resistance response, on the other hand all CS cultivars severly infected with the pathogen. The results suggest that this method is efficient screening method of Chinese cabbage for resistance to clubroot disease.
Nitrate nitrogen was absorbed dominantly among the inorganic nitrogen nutrients by tobacco plant. Transport and reduction of $NO_3-N$ in plant tissue were the important metabolism for supplying synthetic N compounds to developing tissues during growth period. Under field and environment-controlled condition tobacco plants were grown and seperated to leaf tissues at stalk positions for investigation of nitrogen transport and assimilation ability during period of rapid vegative growth. The results of studies were summarized as follows: 1. $NO_3-N$ absorbed from roots was transported as inorganic nitrogen through the vascular tissue of leaf veins as resulting from the high $NO_3-N$ ratio of the nitrogen content in leaf veins, but these ratios in mesophyll tissue of the same leaf laminae decreased remarkably in disregard of higher accumulation of nitrogen being compared to midvien. 2. Mesophyll tissue of mature leaves appeared higher value of nitrate reductase activity (NRA) comparing with other tissues, stem, leaf vien, and meristmatic tissue at emergence point with young leaves. 3. Matured leaves at lower position being reducing nitrate nitrogen vigorously observed thick laminae and kept high amount of water in them. 4. Mature leaves of young plant reduced $NO_3-N$ vigorously for supply synthetic N compounds to meristmatic tissues at growing point by the reason of narrow and few leaves at young stage, but in advancing growth period NRA of mature leaves along upper position reached to lower value. This appearence attributed to distribution of organic-N compound demanding for growth to increasing numbers of wide leaves.
The present experiments proposed to pass judgement upon the suitability as the second intermediate host of Clonorchis sinensis, of three kinds of fresh-water fish by having them infected with the cercaria of Clonorchis sinensis and then observing the penetrating ability of the cercaria, and maturity, the process of degeneration and extinction, and infectivity of the metacercaria of Clonorchis sinensis. The following is a brief summary of the leading facts gained through the experiments; 1. P. parva was easily subject to invasion of the cercaria, A. signifer was much less subject to the invasion, and finally A. asmussi was hard to invade. And the infectivity of the cercariae was in proportion to their penetrating ability mentioned in the above. 2. The examination of the cercariae after having three kinds of fresh-water fish infected with them disclosed that 24 hours after the infection, all of the cercariae formed their cysts in muscle and the metacercariae kept growing, and that 7 days later the metacercariae were found folding their bodies twice, and that in 15 days the characteristic structure of the metacercariae was complete and they made a vigorous rotary movement intermittently. 3. Then the metacercariae came to a state of maturity and beyond this stage some metacercariae in P. parva started the process of degeneration and extinction in 133 days; some in A. asmussi, in 140 days; and A. signifer, in 70 days. As more days elapsed, their degeneration and extinction increased in number, and in 269 days all of them in A. signifer became dead while those in A. asmussi were all dead in 460 days. However almost all of them in P. parva survived even after 770 days. The results shown above revealed that P. parva was the most suitable as the second intermediate host among three kinds of fresh-water fish and that A. signifer and A. asmussi were not quite recommendable as the second intermediate host. The ability of the cercaria to invade fresh-water fish, and life span of the metacercaria within fresh-water fish vary outstandingly according to species of fresh-water fish. An explanation as to the mechanism must wait as the subject to be further pursued.
The aim of the present experiment was to investigate the effects of anionization on the various stage of mice growth, the feeding level of diets, the switch - over effects, effects of plane of nutrition on growth of mice, the effects of method of ionization on growth of mice and associated breeding performance. Mice in polyethylene cages were placed on vinyl plate charged anion by an Electrical Ionizing Machine. At an early growing stages body weight gains of mice anionized were not different from the unionized group. The dietary intake did not affect significantly the body weight of mice 15- l7g. The growth of mice of 11.5-16.2g was not affected by ionization statistically, but the ionized group increased slightly. The switching over from the untreated to the ionization slightly depressed the ionized mice by 2.4g, the untreated switched over to ionization group by 2.28g as compared with the 3.29g for the untreated during the 4- day - feeding period. Plane of nutrition and ionization did not significantly affect the growth of mice of 7.1-15.8g when mice were fed high - protein and high - carbohydrate diets. The Common Ionization Method was appeared statistically superior to the Overnight - Ionization Method. The growth rate of the offspring of mice ionized prior to conception was found to be normal but the number of progeny was considerablly high.

Since the late 1990s, the Korean Venture Capital Industry has been remarkably grown in the aspect of quality and quantity. Korean government expects that the Venture company and Venture Capital Industry would contribute to the recovery of depressed Korean economy and restructuring of the high cost and low efficiency economic structure. Korean government reinforces supporting policies for the Venture Capital and Venture Business. Venture Capital is defined as the form of high risk and high profit investment capital growing the small & medium enterprises to competitive ones through capital and management support and collecting the capital. According to the Gompers and Lerners the venture capital cycle consists of raising investment capital, screening the investment opportunity and invest the money. And later, sold the retained stock to the other investor or to the company. This stage called EXIT Consequently, the function of the venture capital, which supply the fund and the business consultation to venture business, have been emphasized and how to effectively run this capital have been recognized as the way to develop the venture business. In this regard, the problem in Korean Venture Capital Market is as follows. First, most of the sources of fund depends on the government support and this conflict with the nature of risk capital because the government capital emphasis the stability than profitability. And secondly, the efficiency of the venture capital system in Korea do not reach that of the advanced countries due to many kinds of restriction and the rack of support. Consequently, the Activation Schemes for Korean Venture Capital Firms are as follows. First, the sources of venture capital need to diversify from angels to institutional investors such as banks, pensions, fund of fund. And Lastly, the internal management and operational system of venture capital companies should be strengthened by quality to that of global Venture Capital Firms.
In order to judge appropriately the suitability as the second intermediate host of Clonorchis sinensis, the present experiments were proposed to survey the metacercaria of C. sinensis in the fish host, Cuztriculus eigenmanni, in the 6eld, and to observe, by experimental infection of the fish with Clonorchis cercaria, the penetrating ability of the cercaria, maturity, the process of degeneration and extinction, and infectivity of the metacercaria. The following is a brie summary of the leading facts gained through the experiments. 1. All the ten fish (mean body weight $13.4{\pm}3.439$) which were caught in Ok-ku irrigation reservoir were in acted with the metacercariae and the average number of the metacercariae found in the fish body/gram was 4.55. 2. The Bish was easily subject to invasion of the cercaria, and the examination of the cercariae after having the fish infected disclosed that 5:l hours after the infection, all of the cercariae formed their cysts in muscle and the metacercariae kept growing, that 7 days later the metacercariae were found folding their bodies twice, and that in 15 days the characteristic structure of the metacercariae was complete and made a vigorous rotary movement intermittently. 3. In the case of control fish, Pseudorasbora parka, both penetrating ability of the cercariae and the infective degree of the metacercariae to control host were stronger as compared with the 5sh host because that the control fish had higher suceptibility to C. sinensis. 4. Afterwards, the metacercariae in the fish host came to a state of maturity and beyond this stage some metacercariae started the Process of degeneration and extinction in as early as 30 days, and as more days elapsed, mortality of the metacercariae was not uniformly increased but difference of mortality appeared to be according to the individual of Ssh host. That is, in 390, 540 and 586 days, all of the metacercariae in the fish hosts became dead, meanwhile almost all of those found in the fish host of 596 days after the infection survived (mortality; 8, 51%) , Percentage of orally administered metacercariae developing to maturity in rabbit is 10.465 in the last case. 5. As the days were progressed the shapes of the metacercariae in the fish host tended to change from ellipsoid to almost round shapes, the length became shorter while the width was wider. The results shown above revealed that C. eigenmanni was, though it could not be proper host than p. larva. suitable as the second intermediate host in addition to our previous observation results.

At military bases, environmental restoration activities resulting from oil contamination are growing concerns of preventing adverse effects on human health and environments. Its technologies are still under developing stage through some countries such as United States and Germany. This study is focused on developing model for a decision-maker to assist the restoration priority under the situation of limited resources such as budget and time. The Model, named the Base Restoration Priority Decision model(BRP model), is composed of the three factors : oil contaminants receptors, and the potential migration pathways. Each risk rating of factor is combined in the 27 matrix blocks and set immediate, moderate, and delayed action category designated restoration priority. This is categorized to group sites into three degree using the simplest of assessment system. As a result, the model will be able to apply to the effective allocation of resources for the restoration by any decision-maker because the model is easy to understand. Also, the continuous study will have established risk assessment system for the restoration of contaminated military with this study as the starting point.

Offshore wind power structures are subject to coastal hydrodynamic loading such as wind and wave loads. A considerable number of turbines have been installed in Europe, but so far none in Korea. Interest in offshore wind energy is growing in Korea, and it is expected that projects will reach the design stage in the near future. This paper discusses the level of structural reliability implied by the design rules of ABS(2010, 2013) and IEC(2009). Metocean conditions in 4 Korean seas(Gunsan, HeMOSU 1, Mokpo, Jeju) were used in the calibrations to calculate the aerodynamic and hydrodynamic loads as well as the structural responses of the typical designs of offshore wind turbines. Due to the higher variability of the wind and wave climate in hurricane-prone areas, applying IEC strength design criteria in combination with Korea west sea conditions could result in a design with much lower reliability index than what is anticipated from a design in European waters. To achieve the same level of safety as those in European waters, application of ABS 100 year design standards are recommended. Level-1 reliability-based design suitable for the Korean sea state conditions should be introduced because the IEC standards does not consider the typhoon effects in depth and the ABS standards is a WSD design method. In addition, the design equation should be established based on the statistical characteristics of the wind and wave loads of the Korean sea areas.
To explore the feasibility of recycled paper mulching in spring-grown potato the changes of soil environments and the growth and yield of potato under non-mulched control and three mulching treatments of recycled paper (RPM), transparent polyethylene film (TPFM), and black polyethylene film (BPFM) were examined over two spring seasons in 1998 and 1999 at Suwon, Korea. The mulching materials were a recycled mulch paper with 110 g/$m^2$ and a thickness of 0.1mm, which was manufactured from old corrugated containers for this experiment and the commercial polyethylene films with a thickness of 0.01mm. RPM lowered the average soil temperature at 5-cm depth during the potato growing period by 03$^{\circ}C$ compared with the control, whereas TPFM and BPFM raised it by 2.$0^{\circ}C$, and 1.8$^{\circ}C$, respectively. On a sunny day during sprout emergence, RPM reduced the maximum soil temperature by about 5$^{\circ}C$, while TPFM and BPFM enhanced it by about 11$^{\circ}C$ and 6.$0^{\circ}C$, respectively. The temperature difference between the control and the mulching treatments decreased with the development of canopy. All the mulching treatments had an advantage in preserving the soil moisture over the control. RPM and BPFM resulted in the effective control of weed by obstructing light transmission onto soil surface, but TPFM had no control effect of weed. Sprout emergence started two to three days earlier in TPFM and BPFM, but one day later in RPM than in the control due to the altered soil temperature by the mulching treatments. However, the final percentage of emergence was notably lower in TPFM than that in the control because of too high soil temperature during daytime, but was not different among the control, RPM, and BPFM. During the early stage of potato growth, the shoot and root growth under RPM was lower compared with the control, but afterwards, RPM outpaced the control. In 1998 experiment, the tuber yield under RPM and BPFM were significantly higher than those of the control and TPFM. In 1999 experiment, there was no significant difference in tuber yield between RPM and the control.
