Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effects of a walking program developed by applying the flow learning method in order to improve children's attitude toward nature and their empathy ability among other five-year-olds. Methods: A total of 49 five-year-olds attending classes at two kindergartens located in B city participated in this study. There were 24 children in the comparative group and 25 children in the experimental group. Before and after the program, all participants individually took a child's nature-friendly attitude test and rated their empathy ability with a teacher. Using the SPSS 25.0 version program, data were analyzed by conducting means, standard deviation, t-test, and ANCOVA(Analysis of Covariance). Results: Children who participated in the walking program using flow learning showed significantly higher nature-friendly attitudes than those of the comparative group. And empathy abilities in the experimental group were higher than in the comparative group in all areas. Conclusion/Implications: The results of this study suggest that a walking program applying flow learning is effective in improving young children's nature-friendly attitude and their empathy abilities.
We have studied the dielectric characteristics of low-k interlayer dielectric materials fabricated by PECVD for various precursor's flow rates. BTMSM precursor was introduced with the flow rates from 42 sccm to 60 sccm by 2 sccm step in the constant flow rate of 60 sccm $O_2$. The absorption intensities of Si-O-$CH_x$ bonding group and Si-$CH_x$ bonding group changed synchronously for the variation of precursor flow rate, but the intensity of Si-O-Si(C) responded asynchronously with the $CH_x$ combined bonds. The heat treatment reduced the FTIR absorption intensity of Si-O-$CH_x$ bonding group and Si-$CH_x$ bonding group but increased the intensity of Si-O-Si(C). The nanopore and free space formed by the increasement of caged link mode and cross link mode of Si-O-Si(C) group implied the origin of low-k SiOCH films.
Objectives : The aim of this study is to examine the effects of SSP(silver-spike point) therapy, applied to acupuncture points, on the middle cerebral arteries blood flows of sample group(tention-type headache patients, n=12) and control group(non tension-type headache patients, n=12), and on the reduction of their headaches, when applied to acupuncture points. Methods : We stimulated 6 acupuncture points for headache with the SSP(three times a week for three weeks), and measured VAS(visual analogue scale) and the blood flow of the middle cerebral arteries with TCD(transcranial doppler ultrasonography). Results : The blood flow of the middle cerebral artery and VAS of the sample group and the control group were compared four times(initial, 1weeks, 2weeks, 3weeks) and significant differences in the measurements were found at 3 weeks(p<.05). The blood flow of the middle cerebral artery of the sample group was significantly increased, and VAS was significantly decreased in both groups. Conclusions : The silver-spike-point low-frequency electrical-stimulation treatment, applied to acupuncture points, can significantly increase the blood flow of the middle cerebral arteries in headache patients and can thus alleviate their headaches.
The dielectric characteristics of low-k interlayer dielectric materials was fabricated by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD). BTMSM precursor was evaporated and introduced with the flow rates from 16 sccm to 25 sccm by 1sccm step in the constant flow rate of 60 sccm $O_2$ in process chamber. Manufactured samples are analyzed components by measuring FT/IR absorption lines. Decomposition each Microscopic structures through two-dimensional correlation analysis about mechanisms for the formation of SiOCH in $SiOCH_3$, Si-O-Si and Si-$CH_3$ bonding group and analyzed correlation between the micro-structure of each group. It is a tendency that seems to be growing of Si-O-Ci(C) bonding group and narrowing of Si-O-$CH_3$ bonding group relative to the increasing flow-rate BTMSM. The order of changing sensitivity about changes of flow-rate in Si-O-Si(C) bonding group is cross link mode$(1050cm^{-1})$$\rightarrow$ open link mode$(1100cm^{-1})\rightarrow$ cage link mode $(1140cm^{-1})$.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of general exercise after blood flow restriction on trunk muscles thickness in children with spastic cerebral palsy. Methods: Twenty children with cerebral palsy were assigned randomly to an experimental (n = 10) or a control (n = 10) group. The experimental group performed general exercise after blood flow restriction, while the control group performed general exercise alone. The study used an ultrasonic instrument to measure trunk muscles thickness. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used to determine differences before and after treatment, and the Mann-Whitney U test was used to determine differences between treatment groups. Results: From a comparison within the groups, the experimental and control groups showed significant difference in trunk muscle thickness after the experiment (p < 0.05). In a comparison between the two groups, the experimental group showed more significant difference in trunk muscle thickness than the control group (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Based on these results, general exercise after blood flow restriction effectively improves trunk muscle thickness in children with cerebral palsy.

Objective:To evaluate the performance of combined quantitative analysis of thyroid blood flow and static imaging data in the differential diagnosis of thyroid nodules. Method: Thyroid blood flow and static imaging were performed in 165 patients with thyroid nodules. Patients were divided into a benign thyroid nodule group (BTN, n=135) and a malignant thyroid nodule group (MTN, n=30) based on the results of post-surgical pathologic examination. Carotid artery thyroid transit times (CTTT), perfusion ratio of thyroid nodule blood/thyroid blood (TNB/TB), and perfusion ratio of thyroid nodule blood/carotid artery blood (TNB/CAB) were measured using thyroid blood flow imaging. The ratios between thyroid nodule and ipsilateral submandibular gland (TN/SG) and thyroid nodule and normal thyroid tissue (TN/T) were measured from thyroid static imaging. The differences between the BTN and MTN groups were compared. Results: 1) CTTT was markedly lower in the MTN group than the BTN group, the difference being statistically significant. 2) TNB/TB and TNB/CAB were both significantly higher in MTN than BTN groups. 3) TN/T was significantly lower in MTN group than BTN group. 4) TN/SG was lower in MTN group than BTN group, but the difference was not statistically significant. 5) Using the combination of CTTT and TN/T, the sensitivity, specificity and accuracy were 93.1%, 95.3% and 94.9% respectively for the diagnosis of MTN. Using the combination of CTTT, TNB/TB and TN/T, the sensitivity, specificity and accuracy changed to 89.7%, 100%, and 98.1% respectively. 6) Correlation analysis demonstrated a significant correlation between TN/T and TNB/TB (r=-0.384, P=0.036) and TNB/CAB (r=-0.466, P=0.009) in the MTN group. Conclusion: The combination of quantitative markers from thyroid blood flow and thyroid static imaging had high specificity and accuracy in differential diagnosis of benign and malignant thyroid nodules, thus providing an important imaging diagnostic approach.
Purpose: This study was to investigate the effects of upper meridian massage on cerebral blood flow, emotions, and sleep of the institutionalized elderly. Methods: This study was a nonequivalent control group pre- and post-test design. The participants were 50 elderly (26 in the experimental group; 24 in the control group) living in the institutions. Data were collected between July 9 and September 1, 2011. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, and $x^2$-test, Repeated Measures ANOVA, and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ coefficient. Each participant in the experimental group received the upper meridian massage for 10 minutes, 4 times per week for 2 weeks. Each participant's cerebral blood flow and self-reported questionnaires were tested before treatment, after 1 week and 2 weeks during treatment sessions. Results: There were significant differences in sleep and emotions after 1 week and 2 weeks during treatment sessions. But cerebral blood flow measured by common carotid artery pulsatility index (CCA PI) and common carotid artery resistance index (CCA RI) demonstrated significant differences in 2 week point in time. Conclusion: These results indicated that upper meridian massage could be an effective intervention for improving cerebral blood flow, emotions, and sleep of the institutionalized elderly.
Polygala tenuifolia (PT) is one of the most well-known traditional herbal medicines in Korea which is commonly used for the treatment of cardiovascular symptoms. The anti-ischemic effects of PT in isolated rat heart was investigated by analyzing changes in blood pressure, aortic flow, coronary flow, and cardiac output. And, its underlying mechanism was examined by quantitating intracellular calcium content in rat neonatal cardiomyocytes. Rats were divided into two groups: an ischemia-induced group without any treatment, and an ischemia-induced group treated with PT. Ischemia of isolated heart was induced by stopping the supply of oxygen and buffer for 10 min. The isolated heart was exposed to PT for the first 5 min of 10 min ischemia. PT treatment significantly prevented the decreases of perfusion pressure, aortic flow, coronary flow, and cardiac output under ischemic conditions. In addition, hemodynamics (except heart rate) of the PT-treated group was significantly recovered 60 min after reperfusion compared to the control group (systolic aortic pressure: 83.3% vs. 64.9%, aortic flow volume: 69.5% vs. 48.7%, coronary flow volume: 77.7% vs. 58.4%, and cardiac output: 71.6% vs. 51.2%, p < 0.01). As for the underlying mechanism, PT significantly prevented intracellular calcium increase which was induced by isoproterenol (p < 0.01), suggesting that the anti-ischemic effect of PT is mediated by inhibition of intracellular calcium increase.
This study aims to evaluate future stream flow by the operation of agricultural reservoir group at the upper stream of the Miho River. Four agricultural reservoirs with storage capacities greater than one million cubic meters within the watershed were selected, and the RCP 8.5 climate change scenario was applied to simulate reservoir water storage and stream flow assuming that there are no changes in greenhouse gas reduction. Reservoir operation scenarios were classified into four types depending on the supply of instream flow, and the water supply reliability of each reservoir in terms of water supply under different reservoir operation scenarios was analyzed. In addition, flow duration at the watershed outlet was evaluated. The results showed that the overall run-off ratio of the upper stream watershed of the Miho River will decrease in the future. The future water supply reliability of the reservoirs decreased even when they did not supply instream flow during their operation. It would also be difficult to supply instream flow during non-irrigation periods or throughout the year (January-December); however, operating the reservoir based on the operating rule curve should improve the water supply reliability. In particular, when instream flow was not supplied, high flow increased, and when it was supplied, abundant flow, ordinary flow, and low flow increased. Drought flow increased when instream flow was supplied throughout the year. Therefore, the operation of the agricultural reservoirs in accordance with the operating rule curve is expected to increase stream flow by controlling the water supply to cope with climate change.
AMF(amplitude modulated frequency) is defined as currents in the frequency range 1 to 100Hz. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of blood flow and skin temperature according to different stimulating frequency($1{\sim}30Hz,\;30{\sim}50Hz,\;50{\sim}100Hz$) of interferential currents. The results were as follow; 1. There were statistical significance on the blood flow with IFC 1, IFC 2, and IFC 3 group, and inter-groups(p<0.05). 2. There were statistical significance on the skin temperature with IFC 1 and IFC 3 group, and inter-groups(p<0.05). 3. IFC 1 was more statistical significance than IFC 3 group on blood flow(pP<0.05) 4. There was no statistical significance between IFC 1 and IFC 3 group on skin temperature(p>0.05).
