To effectively delineate the foundation of stone relics by GPR and seismic refraction methods, a geological engineering model was constructed with alternating layer of soil and gravel to a depth of 3 m. This study was aimed at mapping the boundaries of model ground structure and interfaces of alternating layer using the various frequency antenna in GPR survey and seismic velocities. Compared to the resolution from the high frequency antenna, the image resolution from the survey using 100 Hz antenna is the lower, but with the deeper image coverage. On the contrast, the deeper structure was not mapped in the higher frequency data due to higher absorption effect, but the shallow layered zone was distinctively resolved. Therefore subsurface images were effectively provided by integrating the data with 100 MHz and 450 MHz antennas for the deep and shallow structures, respectively. Regarding the seismic refraction data, the boundaries of the model and interface of the alternating layers were not successfully mapped due to the limit of the survey length. However, the equivalent contours of low velocity extended deep as considerable velocity contrasts with surrounding ground.
The seventy percentage of Korean Peninsular is covered by the mountainous area, and the depth of west sea and south sea is relatively shallow. Therefore, a large scale land reclamation from the sea has been implemented for the construction of industrial complex, residental area, and port and airport facilities. The common problem of reclaimed land is consisted of soft ground, and hence it has low load bearing capacity as well as excessive settlement upon loading on the ground surface. The hollow concrete block has been used to reinforce the loose and soft foundation soil where the medium-high apartment or one-story industrial building is being planned to be built. Recently the earthquakes with the magnitude of 4.0~5.0 have been occurred in the west coastal and southeast coastal areas. Lee (2019) reported the advantages of hollow concrete block reinforced shallow foundation through the static laboratory bearing capacity tests. In this study, the dynamic behavior of hollow concrete block reinforced sandy ground with filling the crushed stone in the hollow space has been investigated by the means of shaking table test with the size of shaking table 1000 mm × 1000 mm. Three types of seismic wave, that is, Ofunato, Hachinohe, Artificial, and two different accelerations (0.154 g, 0.22 g) were applied in the shaking table tests. The horizontal displacement of structure which is situated right above the hollow concrete block reinforced ground was measured by using the LVDT. The relative density of soil ground are varied with 45%, 65%, and 85%, respectively, to investigate the effectiveness of reinforcement by hollow block and measured the magnitude of lateral movement, and compared with the limit value of 0.015h (Building Earthquake Code, 2019). Based on the results of shaking table test for hollow concrete block reinforced sandy ground, honeycell type hollow block gives a large interlocking force due to the filling of crushed stone in the hollow space as well as a great interface friction force by the confining pressure and punching resistance along the inside and outside of hollow concrete block. All these factors are contributed to reduce the great amount of horizontal displacement during the shaking table test. Finally, hollow concrete block reinforced sandy ground for shallow foundation is provided an outstanding reinforced method for medium-high building irrespective of seismic wave and moderate accelerations.

Recently, granular soils having a large particle size are frequently used as a filling material in the construction of foundation, harbor, dam, and so on. The shear behavior of this granular soil plays a key role in the stability of structures. For example, soil particle crushing occurring at the interface between structure and soil and/or within soil mass can cause the disturbance of ground characteristics and consequently induce an issues in respect of stability of structures. In order to investigate the shear behavior according to an existence and nonexistence of particle crushing, numerical analyses were conducted by using the DEM(Discrete Element Method)-based software program PFC(Particle Flow Code). Using the crushing model and non-crushing model which were created in this study, numerical analyses of ring shear test were conducted and their results were analyzed and compared. In general, landslide and slope stability are accompanied by a large displacement and consequently not only a peak strength but also a residual strength are very important in the analysis of landslide and slope stability. However the direct shear test which has been commonly used in the determination of shear strength parameters has a limitation on displacement therefore the residual strength parameters can not be obtained. The characteristics of residual shear behavior were investigated through the numerical analyses in this study.
The possibility of earthquakes in vulnerable regions indicates that efficient technique is required for seismic protection of buildings. During the recent decades, the concept is moving towards the insertion of base isolation on seismic prone buildings. So, investigation of structural behavior is a burning topic for buildings to be isolated in base level by bearing device. This study deals with the incorporation of base isolation system and focuses the changes of structural responses for different types of Lead Rubber Bearing (LRB) isolators. A number of sixteen model buildings have been simulated selecting twelve types of bearing systems as well as conventional fixed-base (FB) scheme. The superstructures of the high-rise buildings are represented by finite element assemblage adopting multi-degree of freedoms. Static and dynamic analyses are carried out for FB and base isolated (BI) buildings. The dynamic analysis in finite element package has been performed by the nonlinear time history analysis (THA) based on the site-specific seismic excitation and compared employing eminent earthquakes. The influence of the model type and the alteration in superstructure behavior of the isolated buildings have been duly assessed. The results of the 3D multistory structures show that the lateral forces, displacement, inertia and story accelerations of the superstructure of the seismic prone buildings are significantly reduced due to bearing insertion. The nonlinear dynamic analysis shows 12 to 40% lessening in base shear when LRB is incorporated leading to substantial allowance of horizontal displacement. It is revealed that the LRB isolators might be potential options to diminish the respective floor accelerations, inertia, displacements and base shear whatever the condition coincides. The isolators with lower force intercept but higher isolation period is found to be better for decreasing base shear, floor acceleration and inertia force leading to reduction of structural and non-structural damage. However, LRB with lower isolator period seems to be more effective in dropping displacement at bearing interface aimed at reducing horizontal shift of building structure.

Wheel for passenger car support the car weight with tires, and they transmit rolling and braking power into the ground. Whittling away at wheel weight is more effective to boost fuel economy than lighting vehicle body structure. A shape of hole in disk is optimized for minimizing the weight of steel wheel. Pro/ENGINEER program is used for formulating the design model, and ANSYS package is selected for analyzing the design model. It has difficulties to interface these commercial software directly. For Combining both programs, response surface methodology is applied to construct approximation functions for maximum stresses and maximum displacements are obtained by full factorial design of five levels. This steel wheel is modeled in 14-inch diameter of rim, and wide parameter of hole in disk is only selected as design variable for reducing the weight of steel whee. PLBA(Pshenichny-Lim-Belegundu-Arora) algorithm, which used the second-order information in the direction finding problem and uses the active set strategy, is used for solving optimization problems.

In recent, various types of steel pipe-roof methods, which is reinforced by mortar after propulsion of steel pipe into the ground, have been used for the construction of trenchless underpass. Integrated steel pipe-roof has flexural stiffness and can resist against overburden load and reduce the stress acting on the concrete underpass structures. Due to arching effect, vertical and horizontal stress distribution around the steel pipe-roof is changing. In this study, therefore, the characteristic of stress distribution around the underpass induced by the construction of integrated steel pipe-roof is investigated by using numerical method. To examine the soil-structure interaction, interface element is introduced. Results show that vertical stress acting on the concrete structure placing inside the steel pipe-roof is significantly reduced due to arching effect and flexural stiffness of integrated steel pipe-roof. Design load can be reduced and effective design of underpass will be available if the earth pressure reduction due to arching effect is considered in the design stage.
The lastest concepts in bonding are "total etch", in which both enamel and dentin are etched with an acid to remove the smear layers, and "wet dentin" in which the dentin is not blown dry but left moist before application of the bonding primer. Ideally, the application of a bonding agent to tooth structure should be insensitive to minor contamination from oral fluids. Clinically contaminations such as saliva, gingival fluid, blood and handpiece lubricant are often encountered by dentists during preparation of a restoration. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of contamination by hem-ostatic agents on shear bond strength of compomer restorations. One hundred and ten extracted human maxillary and mandibular molar teeth were collected. The teeth were cleaned from soft tissue remnant and debris and stored in physiologic solution until they were used. Small flat area on dentin of the buccal surface were wet ground serially with 400, 800 and 1200 abrasive paper on automatic polishing machine. The teeth were randomly divided into 11 groups. Each group was conditioned as follows: Group 1 : Dentin surface was not etched and not contaminated by hemostatic agents. Group2 : Dentin surface was not etched but was contaminated by Astringedent (Ultradent product Inc., Utah, U.S.A.). Group3 : Dentin surface was not etched but was contaminated by Bosmin (Jeil Phann, Korea.). Group4 : Dentin surface was not etched but was contaminated by Epri-dent (Epr Industries, NJ, U.S.A.). Group5: Dentin surface was etched and not contaminated by hemostatic agents. Group 6 : Dentin surface was etched and contaminated by Astringedent. Group7 : Dentin surface was etched and contaminated by Bosmin. Group8 : Dentin surface was etched and contaminated by Epri-dent. Group9 : Dentin surface was contaminated by Astringedent. The contaminated surface was rinsed by water and dried by compressed air. Group10 : Dentin surface was contaminated by Bosmin. The contaminated surface was rinsed by water aud dried by compresfed air. Group 11 : Dentin surface was contaminated by Epri-dent. The contaminated surface was rinsed by water and dried by compresfed air. After surface conditioning, F2000 was applicated on the conditoned dentin surface. The teeth were thermocycled in distilled water at $5^{\circ}C\;and\;55^{\circ}C$ for 1000 cycles. The samples were placed on the binder with the bonded compomer-dentin interface parallel to the lmife-edge shearing rod of the Universal testing machine(Zwick 020, Germany) running at a cross head speed of 1.0mmimin. There were no significant differences in shear bond strength between groups 1 and group 3 and 4, but group 2 showed significant decrease in shear bond strength compared with group 1. There were no significant differences in shear bond strength between group 5 and group 7 and 8, but group 6 showed significant decrease in shear bond strength compared with group 5. There were no significant differences in shear bond strength between group 5 and group 9, 10 and 11.

By dividing soil particle bonding model into crushing model and noncrushing model, total four particle bonding models were simulated and their results were compared. Noncrushing model included one ball model and clump model, and crushing model included cluster model and Lobo-crushing model. The combinations of soil particle followed the research results of Lobo-Guerrero and Vallejo (2005) which were composed of eight circles. The results showed that the friction angle was in order of clump model > cluster model > one ball model. The particle bonding model compared to one ball model and noncrushing model compared to crushing model showed higher shear strength. It was also concluded that the model suggested by Lobo-Guerrero and Vallejo (2005) is not appropriate to simulate the soil particle crushing.

Recently, the domestic demand for weapon systems based on aircraft platforms is gradually increasing. In particular, the demand for effective precision guided missile(PGM) which cruises for several hundred kilometers after launch to strike the ground target is rising drastically, but it is in the early stages of development, and research based on it are limited. This paper is a study on the power converter unit(PCU) within PGM which is mounted on an aircraft platform based on MIL-STD-1760, which is an interface between an aircraft and PGM. We investigated the electrical properties and structure of the umbilical connector, and the aircraft/store electrical interconnection system. Also, the focus on the design specifications of the PCU that supplies power were described. This result 3 phase AC input, which is the state for the guided simulation power supply in the state of being mounted on an aircraft that rectification method with power factor correction(PFC) compared to bridge rectifier circuit. In the future, it may be used as a basis for power supply design on aircraft mounted weapon systems.
