환경영향을 최소화한 비전 시스템을 이용한 미세공구의 상태 감시 기술 (Tool Monitoring System using Vision System with Minimizing External Condition)

  • Machining tool conditions directly affect to quality of product and productivity of manufacturing. Many researches performed for tool condition monitoring in machining process to improve quality and productivity. Conventional methods use characteristics of signal for cutting force, motor current consumption, vibration of machine tools and machining sound. Recently, diameter of machining tool is become smaller for minimizing of mechanical parts. Tool condition monitoring using conventional methods are relatively difficult because micro machining using small diameter tool has low machining load and high cutting speed. These days, the direct monitoring for tool conditions using vision system is performed actively. But, vision system is affected by external conditions such as back ground of image and illumination. In this study, minimizing technology of external conditions using distribution analysis of image data are developed in micro machining using small diameter drill and tap. The image data is gathered from vision system. Several sets of experiment results are performed to verify the characteristics of the proposed machining technology.

  • A multi-channel gas leakage monitoring system was designed and fabricated by using CPLD(complex Programmable Logic .Device) for monitoring and controlling the leakage of natural gas from supplying-pipes under the ground. Fabricated SnO$_2$thick film gas sensor elements were attached on safeguard steel plate of natural gas supplying pipes, and the local monitoring system in this study received the signal from the gas sensors. The monitoring system was implemented by using CPLD chip to reduce the development time and implement simple one chip system. The time division multi-channel system received the input signal from individual gas sensor at one of divided times by multiplexor and signal processed sequentially. The system reduced the size of peripheral circuit resulted in implementation of creditable simple system.

  • This paper reviews the operation standards and manuals of earthquake monitoring system for Gyungbu high speed railroad. The domestic earthquake monitoring system detects the acceleration data at the locations of lower part of pier and deck of viaducts and bridges, not like foreign system to do the surface ground accelerations. For the purpose of evaluating the behaviors of the domestic earthquake monitoring system, measured acceleration data on the Odaesan earthquake at Iwon viaduct were analysed. The values of maximum acceleration level of the viaduct were increased from 0.0089g(EW component) of the lower part of pier to 0.014g(EW component) on the deck of the viaduct. And also the predominant periods and frequencies were analysed by the frequency domain analysis.

비선형 관측기를 이용한 차량의 타이어 횡력 감지시스템 개발 (Development of Tire Lateral Force Monitoring Systems Using Nonlinear Observers)

  • Longitudinal and lateral forces acting on tires are known to be closely related to the tract-ability braking characteristics handling stability and maneuverability of ground vehicles. In thie paper in order to develop tire force monitoring systems a monitoring model is proposed utilizing not only the vehicle dynamics but also the roll motion. Based on the monitoring model three monitoring systems are developed to estimate the tire force acting on each tire. Two monitoring systems are designed utilizing the conventional estimation techniques such as SMO(Sliding Mode Observer) and EKF(Extended Kalman Filter). An additional monitoring system is designed based on a new SKFMEC(Scaled Kalman Filter with Model Error Compensator) technique which is developed to improve the performance of EKF method. Tire force estimation performance of the three monitoring systems is compared in the Matlab simulations where true tire force data is generated from a 14 DOF vehicle model with the combined-slip Magic Formula tire model. The built in our Lab. simulation results show that the SKFMEC method gives the best performance when the driving and road conditions are perturbed.

Real-time structural damage detection using wireless sensing and monitoring system

  • A wireless sensing system is designed for application to structural monitoring and damage detection applications. Embedded in the wireless monitoring module is a two-tier prediction model, the auto-regressive (AR) and the autoregressive model with exogenous inputs (ARX), used to obtain damage sensitive features of a structure. To validate the performance of the proposed wireless monitoring and damage detection system, two near full scale single-story RC-frames, with and without brick wall system, are instrumented with the wireless monitoring system for real time damage detection during shaking table tests. White noise and seismic ground motion records are applied to the base of the structure using a shaking table. Pattern classification methods are then adopted to classify the structure as damaged or undamaged using time series coefficients as entities of a damage-sensitive feature vector. The demonstration of the damage detection methodology is shown to be capable of identifying damage using a wireless structural monitoring system. The accuracy and sensitivity of the MEMS-based wireless sensors employed are also verified through comparison to data recorded using a traditional wired monitoring system.

Applications of Drones for Environmental Monitoring of Pollutant-Emitting Facilities

  • This study aimed to determine the applicability of drones and air quality sensors in environmental monitoring of air pollutant emissions by developing and testing two new methods. The first method used orthoimagery for precise monitoring of pollutant-emitting facilities. The second method used atmospheric sensors for monitoring air pollutants in emissions. Results showed that ground sample distance could be established within 5 cm during the creation of orthoimagery for monitoring emissions, which allowed for detailed examination of facilities with naked eyes. For air quality monitoring, drones were flown on a fixed course and measured the air quality in point units, thus enabling mapping of air quality through spatial analysis. Sensors that could measure various substances were used during this process. Data on particulate matter were compared with data from the National Air Pollution Measurement Network to determine its future potential to leverage. However, technical development and applications for environmental monitoring of pollution-emitting facilities are still in their early stages. They could be limited by meteorological conditions and sensitivity of the sensor technology. This research is expected to provide guidelines for environmental monitoring of pollutant-emitting facilities using drones.

RPUM 강관의 효율적인 설계기법에 관한 연구 (A Study on Efficient Design Technique of RPUM Steel Pipes)

  • Until now, NATM(New Austrian Tunneling Method) has been increasingly developed based on concept of making use of ground as support. Also, NATM in its essence is a method of risk based on monitoring behaviour of tunnel. This Monitoring is irreplaceable for the quality construction of tunnel, and safety of tunnel itself. Pre-reinforcement ahead of a tunnel face using long steel pipes in NATM, known as the RPUM(Reinforced Protective Umbrella Method), is the auxiliary method to sustain the stability of a tunnel face and reduce the ground settlements. Since design of RPUM has been dependent on the empirical design, it is necessary to develop the improved design methods. In this study, to understand behaviour of steel pipes, it is monitored displacement of tunnel crown, axial force of rock bolt, displacement and axial stress of steel pipes. Also, in order to clarify the mechanical behaviour and RPUM effects, 3-Dimensional numerical analysis is performed that various cases of different parameter combinations including original length and repeated length of steel pipes, installation width and angle, repeated length of steel. In the results of comparison monitoring with analysis, it is suggested more economical and efficient design technique than empirical design methods.

수직구 굴착시 스마트 터널기반 지하수위 현장계측과 수치해석 비교 연구 (Comparison of measured values and numerical analysis values for estimating smart tunnel based groundwater levels around vertical shaft excavation)

  • 최근 도심지에 개발이 이루어지면서 지반침하가 증가하고 있으며, 그에 대한 원인 중 하나는 지하수위의 변화이다. 본 연구에서는 굴착깊이가 깊은 수직구 굴착공사의 한 예로 「◯◯◯◯ 복선전철 민간투자사업」의 작업구를 대상으로 지하수위 저하량에 대한 현장계측 결과와 수치해석 결과를 비교 분석하였다. 이를 통하여 지하수위 저하에 대한 검토를 실시할 경우, 현장조건들이 충분히 반영될 수 있도록 지반조건을 분석하여 적용하여야 하며, 지하수위는 측정시기를 확인하여 적절한 수위를 적용하여야 시공 시 지하수위의 저하량과 유사한 예측 값을 도출해 낼 수 있음을 확인하였다.

GCP Placement Methods for Improving the Accuracy of Shoreline Extraction in Coastal Video Monitoring

  • In coastal video monitoring, the direct linear transform (DLT) method with ground control points (GCPs) is commonly used for geo-rectification. However, current practices often overlook the impact of GCP quantity, arrangement, and the geographical characteristics of beaches. To address this, we designed scenarios at Chuam Beach to evaluate how factors such as the distance from the camera to GCPs, the number of GCPs, and the height of each point affect the DLT method. Accuracy was assessed by calculating the root mean square error of the distance errors between the actual GCP coordinates and the image coordinates for each setting. This analysis aims to propose an optimal GCP placement method. Our results show that placing GCPs within 200 m of the camera ensures high accuracy with few points, whereas positioning them at strategic heights enhances shoreline extraction. However, since only fixed cameras were used in this study, factors like varying heights, orientations, and resolutions could not be considered. Based on data from a single location, we propose an optimal method for GCP placement that takes into account distance, number, and height using the DLT method.

굴착현장 모니터링 시스템을 위한 적응적인 듀티사이클링 제어 기법 (Control Method of Adaptive Duty-cycling for Monitoring System in Excavations)

  • 굴착 현장 인접 구조물의 안정성을 확보하기 위해 현장 주변 지반의 변형을 모니터링하는 것은 중요하다. 지반특성과 굴착 깊이에 따라 굴착 중 벽체의 변형이 다르게 발생하며, 이를 정확하게 예측하는 것은 불가능하다. 따라서 굴착지지 벽체 후방에 인클리노미터를 탑재한 센서를 설치하여 이를 모니터링한다. 본 논문에서는 굴착과정에서 벽체의 변형을 모니터링하기 위해 무선 센서 노드를 사용한 모니터링 시스템을 설계하였다. 또한 배터리 기반의 센서 노드의 수명을 연장하기 위해 굴착 진행 과정과 인클리노미터의 계측 값에 따라 위험도 등급을 설정하고 해당 등급에 따라 활성/휴면 구간을 적응적으로 변경하는 기법을 제안하였다. 지연시간 분석을 통해 제안기법은 굴착현장과 같이 위험도가 다른 데이터가 동적으로 발생하는 환경에서 고정 듀티사이클링 기법에 비해 지연시간을 크게 줄일 수 있음을 확인한다.
