  • Galileo is the European Global Navigation Satellite System, under civilian control, and consists on a constellation of medium Earth orbit satellites and its associated ground infrastructure. Galileo will provide to their users highly accurate global positioning services and their associated integrity information. The elements in charge of the computation of Galileo navigation and integrity information are the OSPF (Orbit Synchronization Processing Facility) and IPF (Integrity Processing Facility), within the Galileo Ground Mission Segment (GMS). Navigation algorithms play a key role in the provision of the Galileo Mission, since they are responsible for computing the essential information the users need to calculate their position: the satellite ephemeris and clock offsets. Such information is generated in the Galileo Ground Mission Segment and broadcast by the satellites within the navigation signal, together with the expected a-priori accuracy (SISA: Signal-In-Space Accuracy), which is the parameter that in fault-free conditions makes the overbounding the predicted ephemeris and clock model errors for the Worst User Location. In parallel, the integrity algorithms of the GMS are responsible of providing a real-time monitoring of the satellite status with timely alarm messages in case of failures. The accuracy of the integrity monitoring system is characterized by the SISMA (Signal In Space Monitoring Accuracy), which is also broadcast to the users through the integrity message.

  • Response spectra of earthquake ground motions are important in the earthquake-resistant design and reliability analysis of structures. The formulation of the response spectrum in the frequency domain efficiently computes and evaluates the stochastic response spectrum. The frequency information of the excitation can be described using different functional forms. The shapes of the calculated response spectra of the excitation show strong magnitude and site dependency, but weak distance dependency. In this paper, to compare the effect of the earthquake ground motion variables, the contribution of these sources of variability to the response spectrum's uncertainty is calculated by using a stochastic analysis. The analytical results show that earthquake source factors and soil condition variables are the main sources of uncertainty in the response spectra, while path variables, such as distance, anelastic attenuation and upper crust attenuation, have relatively little effect. The presented formulation of dynamic structural response in frequency domain based only on the frequency information of the excitation can provide an important basis for the structural analysis in some location that lacks strong motion records.

  • The defected ground structure (DGS ) for microstrip structure can be used to protect analog/RF signal from SSN interference of digital circuits on PCB with common ground. However, the basic DGS gives rise to undesired emissions that may interfere with nearby circuitry due to the ground discontinuity. In this paper, we have proposed the modified structure, Corrugated DGS and the method to reduce the radiation by adding the lumped resistor on the proposed Corrugated DGS.

  • This paper proposes a new system to maximize efficiency of Air Base Protection Operations through the development of location identification software. The Wibro-based location identification system for Air Base Protection Force offers Blue Ground Force digitalized character message which is not exposed to enemy. Also, it is possible to automatically provide the location of Blue Ground Force to Air Base Ground Operations Center. The test result proves that this system is very helpful when Air Base Protection Force executes Air Base Protection Operations.

  • The KOMPSAT(Korea Multi-Purpose SATellite) has two optical imaging instruments called EOC(Electro-Optical Camera) and OSMI (Ocean Scanning Multispectral Imager). The image data of these instruments are transmitted to ground station and restored correctly after post-processing with the telemetry data transfeered from KOMPSAT spacecraft. The major timing information of the KOMPSAT is OBT (On-Board Time) which is formatted by the on-board computer of the spacecraft, based on 1Hz sync. pulse coming from the GPS receiver involved. The OBT is transmitted to ground station with the house-keeping telemetry data of the spacecraft while it is distributed to the instruments via 1553B data bus for synchronization during imaging and formatting. The timing information contained in the spacecraft telemetry data would have direct relation to the image data of the instruments, which should be well explained to get a more accurate image. This paper addresses the timing analysis of the KOMPSAT spacecraft and instruments, including the gyro data timing analysis for the correct restoration of the EOC and OSMI image data at ground station.

  • In this paper, the electric characteristic of the SGPS with slot in the ground plane is similar to the parallel resonant circuit. When the slot length in SGPS is equal to the half wavelength of specific frequency, the characteristic of SGPS represent the large attenuation at the specific frequency. We found out the relation between attenuation and resistor on the slot in SGPS and we designed the variable attenuator for MMIC using the variable resistor. This attenuator can be applied to AGC circuit in transceiver if the PIN diode is used replace for resistor.

  • Specification of reinforcement method was suggested according to the ground condition and tunnelling environment such as adjacent building and surface settlement. Tunnel database consists of 8 different groups of data according to the tunnel construction situations and major problems of ground. A tunnel countermeasure expert system based on client/server system was developed with on-line. The expert system provides proper solution to the each construction sites backing up the information of the tunnelling and ground information through Internet. The effective factors of tunnel construction were shown by the analyzing relationship and partial relationship between face stability and RMR factors. This study will be very helpful to make the most of in-situ data and suggest proper applicability of tunnel reinforcement system escaping from the dependence of some experienced experts for the absent of guide.

  • One of the basic technology for implementing the autonomy of UGV(Unmanned Ground Vehicle) is a path planning algorithm using obstacle and raw terrain information which are gathered from perception sensors such as stereo camera and laser scanner. In this paper, we propose a generation method of DVGM(Directional Velocity Grid Map) which have traverse speed of UGV for the five heading directions except the rear one. The fuzzy system is designed to generate a resonable traveling speed for DVGM from current patch to the next one by using terrain slope, roughness and obstacle information extracted from raw world model data. A simulation is conducted with world model data sampled from real terrain so as to verify the performance of proposed fuzzy inference system.

  • There has been tighten up the need of seismic retrofit about 31 public facilites since published "Korean Earthquake Damage Prevention Law". Therefore, seismic studies have been developed and enforced the studies. Measuring dynamic stiffness of subsurface materials influence on seismic performance evaluation to build up seismic retrofit. The soil dynamic properties for seismic performance evaluation are N-value from using SPT(standard penetration test), dynamic shear elastic modulus and dynamic deformation modulus using laboratory tests. The most unscientific element in ground dynamic properties involved uncertainties is obviously N-value using SPT. This study shows that effect of N-value included natural and artificial uncertainties to seismic performance evaluation of ground structures is not only approached probabilistic analysis using FOSM method and tornado diagram, but also review how to spread effect of seismic performance evaluation of ground structures.

  • The performance comparison method against ground clutter, when the trasnfer function of MTI filter or integrator is given, is considered for the MTI signal processors using a constant PRF. The MTI signal processors are modelled as the transversal filters, and the ground clutter power density spectrum as Gaussian type and the performance of the MTI signal processors are compared by calculating the MTI improvent factors. The MTI imrpovement factors versus normalized spectral width is depicted as examples for the MTI filters, the integrator using Hanning weighting function and the cascading of the two.
