Dynamic behavior of submerged floating tunnels at the shore connection considering the use of flexible joints

  • When a submerged floating tunnel is connected to the ground, there is a risk of stress concentration at the shore connection owing to the displacement imbalance caused by low confinement pressures in water and high confinement pressures in the ground. Here, the effects of the boundary condition and stiffness of the joints installed at the shore connection on the behaviors of a submerged floating tunnel and its shore connection were analyzed using a numerical method. The analysis results obtained with fixed and ground boundaries were similar due to the high stiffness of the ground boundary. However, the stability of the shore connection was found to be improved with the ground boundary as a small displacement was allowed at the boundary. The effect of the joint stiffness was evaluated by investigating the dynamic behavior of the submerged floating tunnel, the magnitude of the load acting on the bored tunnel, and the stress distribution at the shore connection. A lower joint stiffness was found to correspond to more effective relief of the stress concentration at the shore connection. However, it was confirmed that joints with low stiffness also increase the submerged floating tunnel displacement and decrease the frequency of the dynamic behavior, causing a risk of increased resonance when wave loads with low frequency are applied. Therefore, it is necessary to derive the optimal joint stiffness that can achieve both stress concentration relief and resonance prevention during the design of shore connections to secure their dynamic stability.

  • In this paper, experiments were conducted on signal amplification of polymer capsules for application to Ground Penetrating Radar so as to enable real-time monitoring of polymer capsules inside concrete using the Morphology Dependent Resonance phenomenon. A TEM CELL and a vector network analyzer were used to analyze the difference in resonance frequency depending on the material of the sphere and the presence or absence of fracture. In order to manufacture a capsule of a size that can be measured using millimeter waves used in GPR, we manufactured a capsule with a 3D printer and analyzed the effects of the presence or absence of coating and the size of the capsule on the resonance frequency. Resonant frequency or signal amplification is more affected by diameter than coating. The capsule showing the highest amplification is the resin-coated 50 mm diameter capsule with a 316-fold increase and the lowest capsule is the uncoated 10 mm diameter capsule with a signal amplification of 11.9 times. These results demonstrate the potential of GPR to measure the position and state of self-healing capsules, which are small-sized polymers, in real time using millimeter waves.

  • 이 논문은 무중력환경에서 작은 질량을 측정하기 위한 시스템의 설계와 테스트 결과 분석을 보여준다. 무중력환경에서는 지상에서와 같이 중력에 이용하여 무게를 측정하는 것은 어렵다. 그래서 여기서 제안된 방법은 측정하고자 하는 샘플의 무게에 대한 함수인 공진주파수를 측정하는 것이다. 우리가 무게에 대한 공진주파수를 안다면 샘플의 공진주파수를 측정하여 그 질량을 알 수 있다. 그래서 피에조 세라믹이라는 물질을 이용하여 시스템을 만든 후 실제로 측정하였다. 이 시스템은 여러 문제가 있었지만, 우리는 미지의 물체의 질량을 측정할 수 있었다.

An Optimal Damping Control Algorithm of Direct Two-level Inverter for Miniaturization and Weight Reduction of Auxiliary Power Supply on Railway Vehicle

  • This paper proposes an optimal damping control algorithm of the DTI (Direct Two-level Inverter) to miniaturize and reduce the weight of auxiliary power supply for railway vehicles. The conventional auxiliary power supply for railway vehicles uses a DC-DC converter to maintain the inverter input power from the line voltage smoothly. The proposed topology does not use a DC-DC converter for reducing of manufacturing and maintenance costs. It also proposes a DTI topology removed damping resistors that generate ground signal noise in a certain period. At this time, a resonance phenomenon of DC-link voltage occurs due to variation of the inductive load, and a method of controlling the resonance phenomenon of DC-link voltage is required. In order to suppress the resonance phenomenon of the DC-link voltage, at a point before resonance occurs, this paper introduces an algorithm to suppress the resonance phenomenon of DC-link voltage by compensating the resonance component of the q axis voltage of the synchronous reference frame. The proposed algorithm verifies the effect through simulation and experiment.

국내 관측자료를 이용한 응답스펙트럼의 수직/수평비 특성 분석 (Characteristics of Vertical/Horizontal Ratio of Response Spectrum from Domestic Ground Motions)

  • 최근 국내에서 발생한 20개의 중규모 지진으로부터 관측된 지반진동 파형을 이용하여 수직 대 수평 응답스펙트럼의 비율을 분석하였다. 연구에 이용된 지반진동은 수평성분 260개, 수직성분은 130개이며 고유진동수별 지반응답을 구하고 최대 지반 가속도 값을 이용하여 정규화 분석을 수행하였다. 국내에서 관측된 지반진동을 이용한 수직 대 수평성분 응답스펙트럼 비율의 특성은 민감도가 가장 높은 것으로 알려져 있는 진앙거리 및 고유진동수에 의한 영향이 뚜렷하게 존재하고 있음을 확인하였다. 0-50km 진앙거리 그룹의 수직 대 수평 응답스펙트럼 비율은 고유진동수 약 7-8Hz 이상 부터 2/3를 초과하고 있음을 보여주었다. 50-100km, 100-150km 및 150-200km의 진앙거리 그룹은 보다 높은 약 15Hz 이상부터 3 그룹 모두 2/3를 초과하고 있으며 또한 약 8-10Hz보다 낮은 고유진동수에서 역시 2/3 이하로 떨어지지 않고 오히려 다시 초과하고 있음을 보여주고 있다. 따라서 내진설계 대상인 구조물로부터 약 200km 이내 지진유발단층이 존재하는 경우 진앙거리마다 고유진동수값에 약간 차이가 존재하나 높은 및 낮은 고유진동수 영역에서 기존의 2/3값을 초과하기 때문에 수직성분의 보수성을 보다 심각하게 고려할 필요가 있다고 해석된다.

A Novel Compact Tunable Bandpass Filter Loaded Varactor Diode on the DGS

  • In this paper, a novel defected ground structure (DGS) pattern with enhanced effective capacitance (varactor diode) and a hole in PCB center is presented. The increase in effective capacitance enables the new DGS pattern to achieve a lower resonance than the DGS pattern for the same etched square dimension. The hole in the center also can make resonator frequency lower with better characteristic. According to the tunable characteristic of varactor diode, the resonant frequencies can be tunable. Simulation results show that a lower resonance is achieved with active device, compared to a common DGS pattern.

도넛형 결함접지면 구조를 이용한 주파수 가변 공진기 특성 연구 (A Study on Characteristics of Frequency Tunable Resonator using the Donut Type Defected Ground Structure)

  • 본 논문에서는 새로운 형태의 도넛형 결함 접지면 구조를 이용한 공진기의 동작특성과 등가회로을 나타내고, 이것의 접지면에 칩 캐패시터를 추가하여 공진주파수를 가변할 수 있도록 설계하였다. 일반적으로 결함접지면 구조는 병렬 공진 특성을 갖는다. 여기에 집중소자 캐패시터를 추가하면 공진주파수가 낮아지게 된다. 캐패시터 대신에 바랙터다이오드를 이용하면 전압으로써 공진 주파수를 제어할 수 있다. 본 공진기는 전압제어발진기와 가변주파수 대역통과 여파기등에 응용될 수 있다.

  • When the high-speed train running on the track, there is a speed limit which track distortion is unusually increased according to condition of track and roadbed. This speed limit is called critical velocity, and physical parameter value increased very greatly. These phenomenon happened as high-speed train were developed, studied regularly through TGV 100 running test in France. As research result until now, the main reason is soft roadbed's capacity. Wave propagation and track support capacity is varied by the site characteristics. This paper achieved theoretical examination about resonance band(speed and frequency) that occurred in roadbed on the base rock in point of geotechnical engineering. The examination of resonance divides with ground response analysis, critical band analysis by the shear wave velocity of roadbed, train critical speed through the ground stratum.

Study of ground vibration induced by high-speed trains moving on multi-span bridges

  • This paper investigates the ground vibration induced by high-speed trains moving on multi-span continuous bridges. The dynamic impact factor of multi-span continuous bridges under trainloads was first determined in the parametric study, which shows that the dynamic impact factor will be large when the first bridge vertical natural frequency is equal to the trainload dominant frequencies, nV/D, where n is a positive integer, V is the train speed, and D is the train carriage interval. In addition, more continuous spans will produce smaller dynamic impact factors at this resonance condition. Based on the results of three-dimensional finite element analyses using the soil-structure interaction for realistic high-speed railway bridges, we suggest that the bridge span be set at 1.4 to 1.5 times the carriage interval for simply supported bridges. If not, the use of four or more-than-four-span continuous bridges is suggested to reduce the train-induced vibration. This study also indicates that the vibration in the train is major generated from the rail irregularities and that from the bridge deformation is not dominant.

성덕대왕신종의 명동과 간극의 공명조건 (Resonance Condition of the Resonance Cavity and Air Gap in the Sacred Bell of the Great King Seongdeok)

  • 한국종은 지면으로부터 일정한 간극을 두고 매달리며, 종 아래에 명동이라고 불리는 독특한 음향학적 요소를 갖고 있다. 간극과 명동의 적절한 설계는 공명효과에 의하여 종소리를 극적으로 증폭시킨다. 종체의 내부공동과 간극, 그리고 명동으로 구성된 음향공동계는 공명주파수와 모드를 갖는데, 공명주파수가 종체의 고유진동수에 일치하게 되면, 그 주파수성분이 크게 증폭된다. 이 연구는 성덕대왕신종을 대상으로 간극효과를 고려한 명동의 공명조건을 처음으로 제시한다. 공명조건을 구하기 위하여 신종의 실제 치수를 사용하여 SYSNOISE를 이용한 경계요소해석을 수행하였다. 또한, 계절에 따른 기온의 차이가 공명조건에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 규명하고, 가변형 명동의 개념을 제시함으로써, 현장에서 온도차를 보정하여 정확한 공명조건을 구현시킬 수 있는 방안을 제공한다.
