적층연삭숫돌을 사용한 원통연삭 공정에서 가공특성에 관한 연구 (A study on the grinding characteristics of the workpiece using the laminated grinding wheel in the cylindrical grinding process)

  • To get smoother ground surface, it is required to replace the grinding wheel with a finer-grit wheel. When the operator replaces the grinding wheel, the balancing and dressing of the wheel surface are necessary. So this replacement has a lot of problems like inconvenience to operators, delays in the operation time, and ineffectiveness in the production process. Therefore, a laminated grinding wheel, which consists of three layers, is provided. The side layers are coarse grits and the middle layer is made up of fine grits. To show the effectiveness of the laminated grinding wheel, experiments on the surface roughness and the material removal rate were performed respectively. As a result, it was found that the grinding process using a laminated grinding wheel can generate smoother ground surface in shorter time.

  • Grinding process has unique characteristics compared with other machining processes. The cutting edges of the grinding wheel don't have uniformity and act differently on the workpiece at each grinding. The response surface analysis is one of various methods for optimizing and evaluating the process parameters to achieve the desired output. In this study, the effect of the grinding parameters on outcomes of the surface grinding was analyzed experimently. To predict the grinding outcomes and to select the grinding conditions before grinding, the second-order response surface models for the grinding force and the surface roughness were developed.

알루미나 연삭입자의 연삭특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Grinding Characteristics of Various Alumina Abrasives)

  • In this paper, the relationship between the mechanical properties of alumina abrasives and grinding performance was investigated. Micro vickers hardness and fracture strength of all abrasives used in this study were measured. The grinding experiments were earned out with alumina grinding wheels made by various kinds of alumina abrasives including 32A, WA, ART, ALOMAX, and RA. The performance of such grinding wheel for grinding SKD11 was evaluated by specific grinding energy, grinding-ratio, and surface roughness. The grinding wheels composed by the harder abrasives and the lower fracture strength abrasives showed better grinding performance.

  • Mirror surface finish of Si-wafers has been achieved by rotary in-feed machining with cup-type wheels in ELID grinding. But the diameter of the workpiece is limited with the diameter of the grinding wheel in the in-feed machining method. In this study, some finding experiments by the rotary surface grinding machine with straight type wheels were conducted, by which the possible grinding area of the workpiece is independent of the diameter of the wheels. For the purpose of investigating the grinding characteristics of large scale diametrical silicon wafer, grinding conditions such as rotation speed of grinding wheels and revolution of workpieces are varied, and grinding machine used in this experiment is rotary type surface grinding m/c equipment with an ELID unit. The surface ground using the SD8000 wheels showed that mirror like surface roughness can be attained near 2~6 nm in Ra.

평균입자모델을 이용한 비연삭에너지 해석 (Analysis of specific grinding energy using average grain model)

  • As a new approach to analyze grinding energy, this paper introduces a specific grinding energy model based on the average grain. Using this model, grinding characteristics such as radial and tangential forces, specific grinding energy of SM45C were investigated with changing grinding variables such as workpiece velocity(v) and apparent depth of cut(Z) in down-surface grinding. From the experimental results, the specific grinding energy decreases as the maximum undeformed chip thickness increases. And there is no significant difference between the specific grinding energies of the existing and the proposed model.

  • Ultra-abrasives such as diamond and CBN have used to maintain accuracy and form deviation for superalloy etc. This study contains the dry cylindrical grinding of metals with Vitrified-bond CBN wheel and Resinoid-bond CBN wheel. For various conditions of grinding speed, workpiece speed, grinding depth and feed speed of table, the grinding resistance, the surface roughness, and the material removal are measured and discussed.

  • The resin bonded diamond wheel is used to grind the difficult-to-cut materials. Traditionally, the resin bonded diamond wheel is manufactured without any pores due to the characteristics of resin bond. In this study, two porous resin bonded diamond wheel were made and the grinding characteristics were compared with traditional nonporous ones. The experimental results indicate that the porous resin bond diamond wheel require less grinding forces and powers.

  • As the optical communication industry is developed, the demand of optical communication part is increasing. $ZrO_2$ ceramic ferrule is very important part which can determines the transmission efficiency and information quality to connect the optical fibers. In general $ZrO_2$ ceramic ferrule is manufactured by grinding process because the demands precision is very high. For the precision grinding machining, it is very important that the error of feeding system is improved. Therefore, we estimated the dynamic characteristics in feeding system of ultra precision co-axial grinding machining system. Then, we performed the machining characteristics experiment.

커피원두의 분쇄입자크기에 따른 에스프레소의 관능적 특성 (The Sensory Characteristics of Espresso according to Grinding Grades of Coffee Beans)

  • Grinding is an indispensible step in preparation of espresso coffee. The purpose of this study was to evaluate physicochemical and sensory characteristics of espresso according to the grinding grades of coffee beans. Specifically, physicochemical characteristics according to the grinding grades of coffee beans were tested based on foam index, persistence of foam, total solids, concentration, extraction yield, pH, viscosity, total soluble solid content and density. With regard to sensory characteristics, QDA were carried out by 10 trained panels. Persistence of foam, total solids, concentration, extraction, pH and viscosity in physicochemical test showed significant differences among the three categories of the samples. In other words, the finer the size of particles was, the higher value was, at the p=0.001 value. Meanwhile, the value of foam index and total soluble solid content to the grinding grades was the highest in 'fine', at the p=0.001 value. Tiger-skin effect in crema, an important attribute for excellent espresso coffee, was perceived by all of the panels in 'fine'. Also, intensity of flavor was perceived as to the strongest in 'fine'. Moreover, 'fine' had the sweetness to balance the acids and bitters. In conclusion, according to the grinding grades, it was identified that there were differences in the physicochemical and sensory characteristics. Furthermore, when the size of particles was 'fine', it brought to the most positive result.
