초음파 센서을 이용한 자율 이동 로봇의 써튼티 그리드 형성 (Sonar-Based Certainty Grids for Autonomous Mobile Robots)

  • This paper discribes a sonar-based certainty grid, the probabilistic representation of the uncertain and incomplete sensor knowledge, for autonomous mobile robot navigation. We use sonar sensor range data to build a map of the robot's surroundings. This range data provides information about the location of the objects which may exist in front of the sensor. From this information, we can compute the probability of being occupied and that of being empty for each cell. In this paper, a new method using Bayesian formula is introduced, which enables us to overcome some difficulties of the Ad-Hoc formula that has been the only way of updating the grids. This new formula can be applied to other kinds of sensors as well as sonar sensor. The validity of this formula in the real world is verified through simulation and experiment. This paper also shows that a wide angle sensor such as sonar sensor can be used effectively to identify the empty area, and the simultaneous use of multiple sensors and fusion in a certainty grid can improve the quality of the map.

  • A numerical study on the use of the momentum interpolation mettled for flows with a large body force is presented. The inherent problems of the momentum interpolation method are discussed first. Numerical experiments are performed for a typical flow involving a large body force. The tact that the momentum interpolation method may result in physically unrealistic solutions is demonstrated. Numerical experiments changing the numerical grid have shown that a simple way of removing the physically unrealistic solution is a proper grid refinement where there is a large pressure gradient. An effective way of specifying the pressure and pressure correction at the boundary by a local mass conservation near the boundary is proposed, and it is shown that this method can effectively remove the inherent problem of the specification of pressure and pressure correction at the boundary when one uses the momentum interpolation method.

DRF-based Object Detection Using the Object Adaptive Patch in the Satellite Imagery

  • In this paper, we propose a DRF-based object detection method using the object adaptive patch in the satellite imagery. It is a Discriminative Random Fields (DRF) based work, so the detection is done by labeling to the possible patches in the image. For the feature information of each patch, we use the multi-scale and object adaptive patch and its texton histogram, instead of using the single scale and fixed grid patch. So, we can include contextual layout of texture information around the object. To make object adaptive patch, we use "superpixel lattice" scheme. As a result, each group of labeled patches represents the object or object's presence region. In the experiment, we compare the detection result with a fixed grid scheme and shows our result is more close to the object shape.

  • In the estimation of grid type area source emissions, the factors by which emissions are distributed spatially must be considered comprehensively. The estimation process can be approached systematically by connecting the emission activity of air pollutants with land use pattern and the various impacts can be taken into account in the process by using such area information as land use, population, distribution of households, types of housing units, fuel consumption and so on. The estimation procedure was computerized in order to calculate area source emissions by grid information system. This computerization helped to augment effectiveness and efficiency not only by managing enormous data but also by performing diverse functions.

  • Distributed Generation (DG) is predicted to play a important role in electric power system in the near future. insertion of DG system into existing distribution network has great impact on real-time system operation and planning. It is widely accepted that micro turbine generation (MTG) systems are currently attracting lot of attention to meet customers need in the distributed power generation market In order to investigate the performance of MT generation systems, their efficient modeling is required. This paper presents the modeling and simulation of a MT generation system suitable for grid-connected operation. The system comprises of a permanent magnet synchronous generator driven by a MT. A brief description of the overall system is given, and mathematical models for the MT and permanent magnet synchronous generator are presented. Also, the use of power electronics in conditioning the power output of the generating system is demonstrated. Simulation studies with MATLAB/Simulink have been carried out in grid-connected operation mode of a DG system. The control strategies for grid connected operation mode of DG system is also presented.

다차원 경로격자지도를 이용한 주차 경로계획 알고리즘 (Path Planning for Parking using Multi-dimensional Path Grid Map)

  • Recent studies on automatic parking have actively adopted the technology developed for mobile robots. Among them, the path planning scheme plans a route for a vehicle to reach a target parking position while satisfying the kinematic constraints of the vehicle. However, previous methods require a large amount of computation and/or cannot be easily applied to different environmental conditions. Therefore, there is a need for a path planning scheme that is fast, efficient, and versatile. In this study, we use a multi-dimensional path grid map to solve the above problem. This multi-dimensional path grid map contains a route which has taken a vehicle's kinematic constraints into account; it can be used with the $A^*$ algorithm to plan an efficient path. The proposed method was verified using Prescan which is a simulation program based on MATLAB. It is shown that the proposed scheme can successfully be applied to both parallel and vertical parking in an efficient manner.

  • This paper addresses grid interconnection tests of a 3kW transformer-less photovoltaic (PV) inverter to verify the effectiveness of the PV inverter and promote its wide use. The 3kW transformer-less PV inverter, which was equipped with intelligent protection and control system, was manufactured. A hardware test bed was constructed for performance tests of the PV inverter. Control performance and grid protection tests were carried out using the test bed. Test results verify the performance of the power control and grid protection functions of the developed transformer-less PV inverter.

Unstructured discretisation of a non-local transition model for turbomachinery flows

  • The description of transitional flows by means of RANS equations is sometimes based on non-local approaches which require the computation of some boundary layer properties. In this work a non-local Laminar Kinetic Energy model is used to predict transitional and separated flows. Usually the non-local term of this model is evaluated along the grid lines of a structured mesh. An alternative approach, which does not rely on grid lines, is introduced in the present work. This new approach allows the use of fully unstructured meshes. Furthermore, it reduces the grid-dependence of the predicted results. The approach is employed to study the transitional flows in the T106c turbine cascade and around a NACA0021 airfoil by means of a discontinuous Galerkin method. The local nature of the discontinuous Galerkin reconstruction is exploited to implement an adaptive algorithm which automatically refines the mesh in the most significant regions.

Large eddy simulation using a curvilinear coordinate system for the flow around a square cylinder

  • The application of Large Eddy Simulation (LES) in a curvilinear coordinate system to the flow around a square cylinder is presented. In order to obtain sufficient resolution near the side of the cylinder, we use an O-type grid. Even with a curvilinear coordinate system, it is difficult to avoid the numerical oscillation arising in high-Reynolds-number flows past a bluff body, without using an extremely fine grid used. An upwind scheme has the effect of removing the numerical oscillations, but, it is accompanied by numerical dissipation that is a kind of an additional sub-grid scale effect. Firstly, we investigate the effect of numerical dissipation on the computational results in a case where turbulent dissipation is removed in order to clarify the differences between the effect of numerical dissipation. Next, the applicability and the limitations of the present method, which combine the dynamic SGS model with acceptable numerical dissipation, are discussed.

  • 그리드란 지역적으로 분산되어 있거나 혹은 다양한 조직(organization)에 소속된 여러 자원들을 네트워크로 연동하여 사용자들에게 하나의 자원처럼 이용할 수 있는 인프라스트럭쳐이다. 전통적으로 그리드 상에서 작업관리 서비스는 작업을 제출하고 모니터링 하는 중요한 역할을 하고 있으며, 자원 정보 서비스와 데이터 전송 및 관리 서비스와 더불어 중요한 요소 중의 하나이다. 본 논문에서는 TIGRIS 상에서 작업 관리 서비스의 설계 및 구현 방법을 제시한다.
