Privacy Enhanced Security Mechanism for Grid Applications

  • Grid system is based on the Grid Security Infrastructure (GSI). GSI uses user's proxy to guarantee availability among multi-trust domains. Since grid system has been developed focusing on availability, GSI provides authentication and authorization performed by systems, but there are lacks of privacy consideration. For this reason, some researchers decide to use their own cluster system and do not want to use public grid systems. In this paper, we introduce a new privacy enhanced security mechanism for grid systems. With this mechanism, user can participate in resource allocation and authorization to user's contents more actively. This mechanism does not need to change previous middleware and minimize the computational overheads.

A Study on the Prospective IT R&D Fields in the Smart Grid Area (스마트그리드산업에서의 유망 IT R&D 분야 도출)

  • Except for some fields, Smart Grid-related technology in Korea is considered to be below the level of developed countries. Under this situation, this study is conducted to look into IT technology related to Smart Grid and draw prospective IT R&D fields in the Smart Grid Industry. To seek out prospective IT R&D fields, the two-stage process evaluating economics, political property, and technical validity. According to the result, four fields of (1) sensor, (2) information protection, (3) AMI middleware, (4) electricity management are selected as prospective fields. The sensor and AMI middleware fields focus on development of key technology, so the strategy that launches leading products in global market faster than other countries(Focusing & First Mover Strategy). The information protection felid is divided into the safety technology for the felid electricity network and the personal & corporate information protection technology, and therefore the R&D Sharing strategy is efficient. For the electricity management filed, a strategic alliance for developing component technology of Grid is desirable.

  • 응용프로그램의 QoS를 보장하는 인터넷으로 연결된 분산 자원의 Management 기술 개발의 필요성은 매우 자명하다고 볼 수 있다. 특히, Grid 기술의 개발은 공유된 망과 컴퓨터들을 통하여 한층 높은 질적 서비스를 가능하게 되는 것은 분명하다. 더욱, Grid 상의 응용프로그램들은 다양한 QoS requirement 들을 지니고 있어 이를 management 하는데 필요한 새로운 층의 middleware toolkit이 설계 개발되어 질 것이다.

  • Data Grid is a kind of Grid computing provides the cooperative environment through the distributed data sharing, and can manage the massive data easily and efficiently. We designed and implemented Globus Toolkit4 (GT4) based database access and integration service (GDAIS). This service was implemented as Grid service for run on the GT4 which is Grid middleware. And it provides functions which are automatic registration of database in virtual organization, distributed query service, and the unified user interface. Also this system can use components which are provided from GT4. Therefore it can improve the efficiency to distribute and manage databases, can easily access and integrate of the distributed heterogeneous data in Grid environments.

  • Migrim(Migration enhanced Grid Middleware) is a communication middleware between embedded devices and multiple servers. In traditional client-server communication, users' requests are sent to and processed by a designated server even though the server may suffer from a heavy load. In addition, the designated server may not have proper information to process the user's request correctly. Proposed connection migration mechanism and transaction migration mechanism are designed to improve the performance and accuracy of request processing. The connection migration is a procedure for delegating a connection to another server, which results in a well-distributed balancing of load among the servers. The transaction migration is a procedure for delegating a transaction to another server, and improves the accuracy of response.

  • Grid computing is an expanded technology of distributed computing technology to use low-cost and high-performance computing power in various fields. Although the purpose of Grid computing focuses on large-scale resource sharing, innovative applications, and in some case, high-performance orientation, it has been used as conventional distributed computing environment like clustered computer until now because Grid middleware does not have common sharable information system. In order to use Grid computing environment efficiently which consists of various Grid middlewares, it is necessary to have application-independent information system which can share information description and services, and expand them easily. Thus, in this paper, we propose a semantic information system framework based on web services and ontology for Grid computing environment, called WebSIS. It makes application and middleware developer easy to build sharable and extensible information system which is easy to share information description and can provide ontology based platform-independent information services. We present efficient ontology based information system architecture through WebSIS. Discovering appropriate resource for task execution on Grid needs more high-level information processing because Grid computing environment is more complex than other traditional distributed computing environments and has various considerations which are needed for Grid task execution. Thus, we design and implement resource information system and services by using WebSIS which enables high-level information processing by ontology reasoning and semantic-matching, for automation of task execution on Grid.

  • Grid란 네트워크로 연결된 가상의 슈퍼컴퓨터를 말하는 것으로 Grid Middleware Toolkit인 Globus가 대표적인 구현물이다 Globus는 사용자에게 Grid의 상태 정보를 제공하는 방법으로 RSL에 의한 Query와 MDS의 LDAP프로토콜을 통한 query로 나뉘어진다. 그러나 이런 방법들은 다이나믹한 환경에서의 잦은 정보의 변화로 인해 query나 실시간적인 자료의 처리가 요구되는 시스템에서 긴 query response로 인해 효과적이지 않다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 MDS 서비스에서의 자료의 저장 방법 및 자원 할당방법에 대해 살펴보도록 하겠다.

  • In this paper, e-Meters middleware and applications using standardized middleware in the EPCglobal is suggested. An standardized middleware of the EPCglobal is designed to manage as a form of SCM and other logistics. In order to support a variety of services using RFID-based, the system must be able to support each protocol. The main features of e-Meters middleware is consist of information status and delivery, distributed database processing, event data analysis, and handling. To operate real time e-Meters system information, The realized middleware is configured to process the results of data collection.

  • Grid는 고성능의 프로세스와 네트워크의 발전으로 인한 분산 컴퓨팅 환경에서의 이기종성을 극복하고, 대규모의 자원 및 데이터를 관리하고, 고속의 연산 수행이 가능한 시스템 개발을 가능하게 하였다. 또한, 현재 국가 및 대학 연구소를 중심으로 가상 환경에서의 협업 및 정보 공유가 가능한 가상 조직을 구축을 목표로 하고 있다. Grid는 고정된 분산 시스템을 기반으로 연구되고 있으며, 현재 컴퓨팅 환경의 변화의 축인 이동성을 고려하지 않고 있다. 경량화 된 프로세스는 이동기기의 대중화를 가져왔으며, 무선 네트워크의 저가화로 인해 무선 인터넷을 통한 컨텐츠 및 어플리케이션의 사용이 범람하게 되었다. 컴퓨팅 자원들의 산재와 이동성의 부여 둥의 컴퓨팅 환경의 변화는 사용자 중심의 컴퓨터 패러다임을 낳았으며, Grid 환경의 계속적인 발전을 위해서는 이러한 변화 수용이 필수적이다. 또한 변화된 컴퓨팅 환경에서의 사용자의 요구사항들에 대한 Grid 컴퓨팅 환경의 적용에 관한 많은 문제점들이 제시되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 관점을 고려하여 이동 컴퓨팅 환경의 인프라들을 기반으로 기존의 Grid 컴퓨팅과의 연동을 고려하여 적응성 및 재구성이 가능한 Mobile-Grid 아키텍처를 제시하고, 가상 조직 내에서 확장성, 유연성, 호환성, 개방성 둥의 특징을 가지는 Mobile-Grid의 미들웨어를 제안한다.

  • Application Contents of based on a workflow process unit in grid system is a practical work to solve the problem. To construct cooperation environment is very important because the contents are deployed and executed. And the most of cooperation is executed by workflow. Globus toolkit is the middleware for cooperation process in grid environment. However the middleware only provides basic services for constructing grid, not workflow that can provides cooperation, job scheduling, application contents management. Also Globus toolkit is suitable for huge gird community but small size pc based grid community. Therefore, this paper proposes the efficient application contents deployment system for small sizes cooperation. This system supports efficient cooperation environment with Application contents deployment and resource management provided in grid community. Also it presents information and association relation among application contents with association dictionary among application contents based on workflow process unit, and utilizes this as information for application contents deployment.
