저탄소도시 구현을 위한 전략수립에 관한 연구 (A Study on Strategy for Embodiment of Low Carbon City)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions on urban areas. This study is made up GHG emission estimation and emission prospect methods, setting of GHG reduction target, GHG reduction plan formulation and feasibility assessment. The significance of this study is as follows. First, this study provides the local government for the overall frame of low carbon strategies. Second, this study contribute to establishment of GHG emission reduction strategies in the local autonomy by providing GHG emission estimation and setting reduction target which is essential elements of reduction strategy. Third, we organize a reduction element for low carbon city embodiment and showed the way to assessment the reduction effect of these elements quantitatively.

신재생에너지의 온실가스감축 기여도에 따른 지역별 보급전략 (Regional Supply Strategies for Renewable Energy Sources based on Contribution Level of GHG Emission Reduction)

  • This study examines the contribution level of greenhouse gas(GHG) emission reduction and installation costs of renewable energy facilities. The GHG emission forecasts and industrial structures in the 16 regions of Korea are then analyzed to identify the proper supply of renewable energy sources for each region. The results show that water power is the most effective and efficient renewable energy source to reduce GHG emissions, followed by sunlight, wind power, geothermal heat, and solar heat, respectively. The 16 regions are then categorized into 4 groups based on their GHG emission forecast and industrial structure: high emission and manufacturing group, low emission and manufacturing group, low emission and service group, and high emission and service group. The proper supply of renewable energy sources for each group is then determined based on the contribution level and cost efficiency of GHG emission reduction.

  • Recently, the need for technology development of commercial vehicle fuel consumption has emerged. Fuel economy improvement of transport equipment and transportation efficiency, and increasing attention to the logistics cost reduction measures. Increasing attention to the logistics cost reduction measures by fuel economy improvement of transport equipment and transportation efficiency. In this study, we have installed aerodynamic reduction device (side skirt, boat tail) to 14.5 ton cargo trucks and 45 ft tractor-trailers. And the fuel consumption was compared installed before and after. Fuel economy assessment for the aerodynamic reduction value device was tested by modifying the SAE J1321 Joint TMC/SAE Fuel Consumption Test Procedure - Type II test in according domestic situation. Greenhouse gas reductions were calculated in accordance with the scenario, including fuel consumption test results. When the 14.5 ton cargo trucks has been equipped with side skirts and boat tail, it confirmed the improvement in fuel efficiency of 4.72%. One Heavy-duty truck's the annual greenhouse gas reductions value are $6.86ton\;CO_2\;eq$. And if applying the technology to more than 50% of registered 15 ton trucks, greenhouse gas reductions are calculated as $686,826ton\;CO_2\;eq./yr$.

De-NOx 저감장치가 온실가스 배출량에 미치는 영향 연구 (A Study on the Effect of De-NOx Device on GHG Emissions)

  • As increase the number of vehicles, the issue of greenhouse gas that was emitted by them became important. As a result, greenhouse gas (GHG) regulations are being strengthened and efforts are being actively made to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the automotive industry. In the other hand, regulations for harmful emission of vehicles have been reinforced by step. Especially, the lastly applied step, so called Euro 6, not only decreased NOx limit down to half of Euro 5 but also introduced real driving emission limit for NOx and PN. It is a challenge for manufacturers to meet the recent GHG regulation as well as the latest emission regulation. To overcome these regulations a De-NOx after-treatment system is being applied to diesel vehicles that are known emitting the lowest GHG among conventional internal combustion engines. At the time of the introduction of Euro 6 emission standard in Korea, in the domestic fuel economy certification test, some diesel vehicles emitted more $CH_4$ than Euro 5 vehicles. As a result, it was confirmed that LNT-equipped vehicles emitted a high level $CH_4$ and the level exceeded the US emission standard. In order to determine the reason, various prior literature was investigated. However, it was difficult to find a detailed study on the methane increase with LNT. In this paper, to determine whether the characteristics of vehicles equipped with LNT the affects the above issue and other greenhouse gases, 6 passenger cars were tested on several emission test modes and ambient temperatures with a environment chamber chassis dynamometer. 2 cars of these were equipped with LNT only, other 2 cars had SCR only, and LNT + SCR were applied to remaining 2 cars. The test result shown that the vehicles equipped with LNT emitted more $CH_4$ than the vehicles with SCR only. Also, $CH_4$ tended to increase as the higher acceleration of the test mode. However, as the test temperature decreases, $CH_4$ tended to decreased. $CO_2$ was not affected by kinds of De-NOx device but characteristic of the test modes.

전과정 평가 방법에 의한 한국 대형선망의 온실가스 배출량 정량적 분석 (A quantitative analysis of GHG emissions from the Korean large scale purse seine fishery using LCA method)

  • The global warming related to GHG (greenhouse gases) emissions from industries is a major issue globally. Furthermore, GHG emissions from the fishery industries also represent an important issue, as indicated by "The Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries" at the Cancun, Mexico, meeting in 1992 and by the Kyoto protocol in 2005. Korea pronounced itself to be a voluntary exclusion management country at the 16th IPCC at Cancun, Mexico, in 2010. However, few analyses of GHG emissions from Korean fisheries have been performed. Therefore, a quantitative analysis of GHG emissions from the major Korean fisheries is needed before guidelines for reducing GHG emissions from the fishing industry can be established. The aim of this study was to assess the present GHG emissions from the Korean Purse seine fishery using the LCA (life cycle assessment) method. The system boundary and allocation method were defined for the LCA analysis. The fuel consumption factor of the purse seine fishery was also calculated. The GHG emissions for the edible fish were evaluated by determining the weights of whole fish and gutted fish. Finally, the GHG emissions required to produce 1kg of whole fish and 1kg of edible fish were deduced. The results will help determine the GHG emissions from the fishery. They will also be helpful to stakeholders and the government in understanding the circumstances involved in GHG emissions from the fishing industry.

PORT-MIS 및 선박제원 DB를 이용한 부산항 입출항 선박의 온실가스 배출량 산정 (Estimating Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Marine Vessels in the Port of Busan using PORT-MIS and Vessel Specification Databases)

  • 본 연구에서는 산재되어 있는 부산항 입출항 선박의 개별 활동도(정박 접안 특성) 및 선박제원 정보를 기존 항만운영정보시스템(PORT-MIS) DB에 연계 구축하기 위한 방법론을 제시하고, 연계 구축된 3가지 DB를 이용하여 18개월(2009.01~2010.06) 동안 부산항에 입출항한 선박의 온실가스 배출량을 산정하여 그 결과를 비교 분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 선박의 기본 활동도 변수만을 포함하고 있는 저해상도의 L-PORT-MIS DB에 각 선박의 정박시간 자료를 추가하여 중해상도의 M-PORT-MIS DB를 연계 구축하였으며, 각 선박의 온실가스 배출량에 직접적인 영향을 주는 엔진출력 등과 같은 선박제원 정보를 연계시켜 고해상도의 H-PORT-MIS DB를 구축하였다. 각 활동도 DB를 이용한 선박의 온실가스 배출량 산정결과, 선박 활동도의 해상도가 높아질수록 총 온실가스 배출량은 감소하는 것으로 분석되었다. 구체적으로 저해상도 및 중해상도의 선박 활동도 자료를 이용할 경우에는 과거에 집계화된 정박 및 접안 특성에 의존하여 온실가스 배출량이 과다 산정되는 반면, 고해상도의 선박 활동도 자료를 이용할 경우에는 각 선박의 개별 접안 정박 특성과 엔진출력이 고려되는바 H-PORT-MIS DB를 이용한 선박의 온실가스 배출량은 보다 신뢰성 높은 추정치로 판단된다. 이처럼 부산항을 입출항하는 개별 선박의 특성을 반영하여 온실가스 배출량을 산정했을 경우 그 추정치는 기존 추정치와 매우 달라질 수 있어 실효성 있는 온실가스 저감대책 수립을 위해서는 본 연구에서 제안한 DB의 연계 구축이 시급하다.

강원도 고성군 소규모 신규조림/재조림 CDM 시범사업의 온실가스 감축량 산정 연구 (A Study on Greenhouse Gas Removals Estimation of a Small Scale Afforestation/reforestation CDM Pilot Project in Goseong, Gangwon Province)

  • 신규조림/재조림 CDM은 교토의정서에서 인정하는 온실가스 흡수원 활동이다. 본 연구에서는 강원도 고성군 간성읍 흘리 지역에서 시행되고 있는 소규모 신규조림/재조림 CDM 시범사업을 대상으로 온실가스 감축량을 산정하였다. 적용된 방법론은 AR-AMS0001이며, 조림수종은 잣나무, 낙엽송, 자작나무 등이고 조림 면적은 총 75.0 ha이다. 베이스라인 시나리오 및 탄소 저장고 선택, 대상지 구획화 등을 실시하고 이를 바탕으로 실질 순 온실가스 감축량, 베이스라인 순 온실가스 감축량, 누출량 산정 등의 과정을 거쳐 순 인위적 온실가스 감축량을 산정하였다. 연구 결과 조림 후 20년간 발생하는 온실가스 감축량은 12,415 ton $CO_2-e$이며 ha당 165.5 ton $CO_2-e/ha$로 나타났다. 본 시범사업은 국내에서 시행된 최초의 신규조림/재조림 CDM이며, 온실가스 감축량 산정에서 대상지 실정을 반영한 국가 고유 자료를 사용함으로써 산정 결과의 정확성을 향상시켰다는 점에서 의미가 있다.

Dietary manipulation: a sustainable way to mitigate methane emissions from ruminants

  • Methane emission from the enteric fermentation of ruminant livestock is a main source of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission and a major concern for global warming. Methane emission is also associated with dietary energy lose; hence, reduce feed efficiency. Due to the negative environmental impacts, methane mitigation has come forward in last few decades. To date numerous efforts were made in order to reduce methane emission from ruminants. No table mitigation approaches are rumen manipulation, alteration of rumen fermentation, modification of rumen microbial biodiversity by different means and rarely by animal manipulations. However, a comprehensive exploration for a sustainable methane mitigation approach is still lacking. Dietary modification is directly linked to changes in the rumen fermentation pattern and types of end products. Studies showed that changing fermentation pattern is one of the most effective ways of methane abatement. Desirable dietary changes provide two fold benefits i.e. improve production and reduce GHG emissions. Therefore, the aim of this review is to discuss biology of methane emission from ruminants and its mitigation through dietary manipulation.

대기오염물질과 온실가스 배출권 거래제 연계 방안 (A Strategy to Integrated Emission Trading System for Greenhouse Gas with that of Air Pollutants)

  • To introduce an emissions trading system for GHG that currently have no reduction requirements, the following should be considered as priorities: eliciting the participation of the industrial sector and linking GHG emission trading systems to the emissions trading system (implemented from July 2007) that has become part of national policy with the enactment of the Special Act. Two directions can serve as viable alternatives in that regard. One is a baseline-and-credit method based on incentive auctioning. This has the advantage of inducing participation through economic incentives without a reductions commitment. The downside of this method is that it requires vast investments, as well as the fact that reaching an agreement between participants and the government to decide an objective baseline is difficult. On the other hand, the cap-and-trade method set forth in the Special Act is attractive in that it can be integrated with the air pollutant emissions trading system, but it would be difficult to elicit the participation of the industrial sector in the absence of GHG emission reduction requirements. In the current situation, it would be preferable for the government to induce the participation of the industrial sector by devising a wide variety of incentives because taking part in the emissions trading system before reducing GHG emissions offers large incentives through learning by doing. The timing of GHG reduction commitments and emissions trading system implementation may be uncertain but their Implementation will be unavoidable. Thus the government needs to facilitate preparations for emissions trading of GHG in the future and continuously review its operation in integration with the air pollutant emissions trading system to maximize adaptation and teaming by doing effect in the industrial sector.

LEAP 모델 적용을 통한 대학단위 온실가스 감축안 도출 - 한양대학교 안산캠퍼스 대상으로 (Greenhouse Gas Reduction Scenario from LEAP Model Application to a University Campus-For Hanyang University Ansan Campus)

  • 본 연구에서는 대학 캠퍼스 단위에서의 온실가스 인벤토리 구축을 위해 한양대학교 안산캠퍼스를 대상으로 직접 배출원(도시가스, 실내등유, 이동연소), 간접 배출원(전력), 기타 배출원(항공, 수도) 세 부분으로 온실가스 배출원을 규명하였으며, 2007년부터 2009년까지 온실가스 배출원별 에너지 사용량에 따른 온실가스 배출량을 산정하였다. 그 결과, 전체 온실가스 배출영역 중 가장 많은 부분을 차지하는 것은 간접배출의 전력부문으로 전체 온실가스 배출량의 56.7% 차지하는 것을 확인하였다. 또한, 대학본부에서 수행 가능한 온실가스 감축시나리오 및 학교구성원이 수행 가능한 온실가스 감축 실천시나리오를 대학환경에 적합하게 설계한 후 LEAP 모델을 이용하여 2007년부터 2020년까지의 온실가스 감축잠재량을 평가하였다. 그 결과, 감축시나리오 적용시 2020년 BAU(배출전망치) 대비 2020년에는 직접배출 중 고정연소에서 63.34 ton $CO_{2eq}/yr$, 이동연소에서 221.1 ton $CO_{2eq}/yr$ 감축되었으며, 간접배출 중 조명에서는 4,637.34 ton $CO_{2eq}/yr$ 온실가스가 감축되는 것으로 산출되었다. 또한, 실천시나리오를 통한 온실가스 감축잠재량은 1293.76 ton $CO_{2eq}/yr$으로 산출되었다. 따라서, 한양대학교 안산 캠퍼스에 감축 실천 시나리오를 모두 적용한다면 2020년에는 2020년 BAU 대비 온실가스를 총 24% 감축할 수 있을 것으로 추정된다.
