A Case Study on Energy Consumption and Calibration of Green Remodeling Buildings (그린리모델링 건물에 대한 에너지소비량 및 보정 사례연구)

  • Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport(MOLIT) has increased reduction rate from 18.1% to 32.7% in Building sector compared to BAU of the national greenhouse gas emission according to the 2030 Greenhouse Gas Reduction Road map Amendment. For this purpose, MOLIT has been activating the green remodeling projects for existing buildings. Considering that 15 year old buildings after completion are 74% (5.25 million buildings) among about 7 million existing building stocks in Korea, reduction of building energy consumption by green remodeling is urgently needed, However, it is a major difficulty of activation for green remodeling projects because there are few case studies on Before and After building energy consumption of actual green remodeling projects. Considering that building energy performance and value increase after green remodeling through previous researches, additional studies of the energy consumption assessment on actual green remodeling projects are essential. Therefore, this study aims to propose results on Before and After building energy consumption of actual green remodeling projects.

A Study on the Development of Design Indicator and User Participation Design for Green Remodeling of School Facilitiess (학교시설의 그린리모델링을 위한 디자인지표 개발 및 사용자참여설계 활용에 관한 연구)

  • This study has developed a design indicator required to promote green remodeling in school facilities. And, implemented the green remodeling pilot test on the school facilities that are planning actual remodeling. This pilot test suggested user participation design methodology such as verification of the developed design indicator, design goal setting, evaluation and adjustment of design proposal. The Green Remodeling Design Indicators were classified into 3 large categories of architectural performance, usability, and design through analysis of cases related to 'green buildings' and 'remodeling'. We have developed nine middle categories such as architectural and structural performance, facility performance, environmentally-friendly, circulation, space, amenity, harmony with surroundings, form and symbolization. In addition, 42 detailed indicators were developed for each category, including general, functional, and special indicators. For the verification of this study, two green remodeling design workshops were conducted for Gwangju J elementary school. The first design workshop presented the importance of the design indicator and set the goal of the design plan of green remodeling for project. And, the second Workshop presented the evaluation of the satisfaction with the design and the direction of future adjustment for project. The design indicator developed in this study can be utilized as a design indicator of design quality management and decision system for the school green remodeling in the future. In addition, by accumulating information on the Green Remodeling Project, it is necessary to spread green remodeling and construct a sustainable building environment.

  • The purpose of this study was to study on the estimation of green remodeling energy reduction tool in building construction. Green Remodeling Decision System that can predict the energy reduction effect in green remodeling is developed as a tool for simple remodeling of green remodeling considering users' convenience, so that it can quickly and comprehensively determine power peak load reduction factor technology. A preliminary simulation result of a short preliminary remodeling evaluation is DB. It will be developed as a tool that can be easily accessed by users such as web and apps.

  • The purpose of this study is to review all phases of the pilot project through the implementation of the Green Remodeling process. The Green Remodeling process was developed to facilitate anyone's ease of use. The Green Remodeling process consists of five phases : project, plan, design, construction, operation and maintenance. Each stage simulation was performed and the energy saving was predicted. Architects can easily obtain energy information of a building. In this study, we propose a green remodeling proposal plan through pilot project. Ultimately, the spread of green remodeling will greatly contribute to achieving the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

A Fundamental Study on the Revision Direction of G-SEED for Green Remodeling Building (그린리모델링 건축물을 위한 녹색건축인증기준 개선방향에 대한 기초 연구)

  • Purpose: G-SEED's evaluation of existing buildings in Korea is an important point because the energy consumption and CO2 emissions of existing buildings are continuously increasing due to the aging of buildings over time. In 2016, the government has set up a 'Green Remodeling Certification Standard' in G-SEED in order to revitalize the green remodeling business of existing buildings. As a result, G-SEED is distinguished between buildings with green remodeling and buildings with general remodeling. Therefore, this study analyzed the system of the certification of the green remodeling building which is aimed at improving the performance of the building. Method: First, we analyze characteristics of the existing building certification standards of G-SEED(Korea), LEED(USA), and BREEAM(UK). Second, the evaluation criteria are based on the G-SEED Green Remodeling Certification, 2016, LEED for BD + C: New construction and major renovation v.4, BREEAM UK Non-Domestic Refurbishment and Fit-out 2014. Based on the analysis results, we propose the improvement direction of G-SEED Green Remodeling Certification Standard. Result: Existing buildings should be classified into 'existing building certification' for re-certification and 'green remodeling certification' accompanied by building performance improvement. In addition, building green buildings through performance improvement should include not only energy performance, but also creating a pleasant indoor environment and minimizing environmental impact. Finally, existing buildings have accumulated information on energy and resource use, and a performance improvement plan should be established based on this information.

  • Aging buildings over 15 years reaches about 74% of 177 thousand buildings in Domestic public buildings. Due to the aging building, the energy loss is a serious problem. In order to reduce the energy usage through improving the energy efficiency on the existing buildings, the government & the local autonomous entity conduct the energy efficiency projects through the remodeling, repairing & equipment replacement on the existing buildings. The green remodeling is applied to the existing public buildings in recently revised the act on the creation and support of green building. However, the standard is not obvious that the work scope of green remodeling, financing and project delivery method. This paper propose is to suggest project delivery system for vitalizing the green remodeling. Green remodeling is defined on basis of the occurring work under project life cycle based on the existing building process and the financing method for owners and companies and the project delivery system according to work scope of green remodeling are proposed in this paper

  • The purpose of this study is to derive priority improvement items through business expansion and efficient implementation for green remodeling business operator in order to enhance the activating of green remodeling business in a long-term perspective. For this purpose, survey of 128 business operator respondent is conducted based on 13 items. Also, priority improvements items were derived based on the results of the survey by using IPA(Importance Performance Analysis) techniques. As a result, In order to revitalize the green remodeling, it is necessary to induce market participation motivation through monetary profit. Additionally, The management of green remodeling business operator and the opinions of owners should be reviewed. In the future, the items that reflect the views of business operator and owners will be investigated and further research on improvements for expanding green remodeling 'interest subsidies on existing private buildings will be conducted.

Physical Environment Change and Occupancy Evaluation on Green-Remodeled University Dormitory (그린리모델링 기숙사의 물리적환경 변화와 거주자평가)

  • This study focuses on the university dormitory remodeled toward energy efficiency. The study has its purpose on deriving the aspects to be concerned for later green remodeling and enhancing the effects of green remodeling, by analyzing the changes of physical environment, changes of energy consumption amount, and needs of the residents. For this purpose, the study went through the review of project report from government office for green remodeling, field investigation of remodeling elements, and the occupancy evaluation by Focus Group Interview. FGI means interviewing small group of the residents who lived in the subjected dormitories both before and after the remodeling. As results, the elements of green remodeling in targeted dormitories were inner wall insulation, top-floor ceiling insulation, replacement of windows, installment of automatic entrance door and making transfer space connected the entrance door. As the parts of equipment system, EHP high-efficiency cooler, highly efficient radiator, upgraded LED lightings with covers, and automatic control system (only one building) were installed. Energy consumption was declined, and the satisfaction of residents was increased after the green remodeling. However, the aspects which were not improved or unsatisfying also have been detected. Therefore, the study states the suggestions each for the administrators, designers and planners, and residents to concern for enhancing the effects of green remodeling or construction of new dormitories.

  • This study aims to propose Green Remodelling methods of apartment houses in Korea. Through the literature review and case studies various 'Green' Remodelling elements including environmental friendly technologies were identified and classified. Design strategies and remodeling techniques which could increase energy efficiency, reduce water and resource use, improve air qualify, improve landscape management, and improve maintenance were also investigated. Then, 'Green remodelling' methods of apartment houses are proposed as the des19n methodology of remodeling for sustainable development. The green Remodeling design methods and elements proposed by this study are proved to be simple, easy and flexible ways to enhance the environmental sustainability of the existing building.

  • Due to economic or environmental reasons, green remodeling projects for old buildings are being actively carried out. Meanwhile, in the process of performing the green remodeling, the plan of green remodeling including passive and active elements has been decided based on the subjective experience and knowledge of engineers currently. Therefore, in this study, an ontology-based green remodeling decision-making support model, which can analyze the properties of old buildings and suggest appropriate remodeling plans, was established. In the developed model, once the basic properties of a building are entered, an appropriate remodeling plan composed of passive and active elements can be provided. By utilizing the results developed through the research, it is expected that it will be possible to support decision-making on more objective and appropriate remodeling alternatives development through web-based meta data search in accordance with the accumulation in remodeling cases.
