The artificial lightweight aggregate (ALA) was manufactured using coal bottom ashes produced from a thermoelectric power plant with clay and, the sintering temperature and batch composition dependence upon physical properties of ALA were studied. The bottom ash (BA) had 13wt% coarse particle (>4.75mm) and showed very irregular shape so should be crushed to fine particles to be formed with clay by extrusion process. Also the bottom ash contained a many unburned carbon which generates the gas by oxidation and lighten a aggregate during a sintering process. Plastic index of green bodies decreased with increasing bottom ash content but the extrusion forming process was possible for the green body containing BA up to 40wt% whose plastic index and plastic limit were around 10 and 22 respectively. The ALA containing $30{\sim}40wt%$ BA sintered at $1100{\sim}1200^{\circ}C$ showed a volume specific density of $1.3{\sim}1.5$ and water absorption of $13{\sim}15%$ and could be appled for high-rise building and super-long bridge.

The development of sustainable composites materials, from recycled polymeric materials and waste from the wood industry and stone processing, allows reducing the volume of these by-products, minimizing impacts on health and the environment. Nowadays, Polypropylene (PP) is the most recycled polymer in industry, while the furniture industry has increasingly used timber felled from sustainable forest plantations as a eucalypt. The powder tailing from the ornamental stone extraction and processing industry is commonly disposed of in the environment without previous treatment. Thus, the technological option for the development of composite materials presents itself as a sustainable alternative for processing and manufacturing industries, enabling the development of new materials with special technical features. The results showed that powder granite particles may be incorporated into the polypropylene matrix associated with short eucalyptus fibres forming green hybrid composites with potential application in structural engineering, such as transport and civil construction industries.
Considering of utilizing renewable resources and recycled plastics, green composites consisted of recycled polyethylene (PE) as matrix and eco-friendly natural fibers as reinforcement were processed and characterized in the present study. First, the wood flour/recycled polyethylene pellets with different wood flour contents were prepared by twin-screw extrusion processing. Using the pellets, wood flour/recycled polyethylene green composites were fabricated and the effects of wood flour loading on their flexural, tensile, impact properties, heat deflection temperature and fracture behavior were investigated. It was concluded that the flexural strength, flexural modulus, tensile modulus and heat deflection temperature of wood flour/recycled polyethylene green composites were increased with wood flour, whereas the tensile strength and impact strength were decreased. The fracture behavior observed by means of scanning electron microscopy supported qualitatively the tendency of the impact strength with wood flour loading, compared with the ductile fracture pattern of recycled polyethylene.
The physical properties of artificial aggregates made from clay and inorganic wastes with poor plasticity depends largely on forming method. The artificial aggregates composing of coal fly ash, stone sludge and clay were fabricated using 4 different forming methods and those physical properties were comparatively analyzed. The surface of aggregates made through the extrusion forming process was dense and smooth but was rough for the aggregates obtained by crushing a tile-shaped green body. The aggregates made by pelletizing process had a weak green strength and bumpy surface. The shell generated at surface during a high temperature sintering process induced the most aggregates to be bloated due to a dense shell. But the aggregates made through pelletizing process with dense surface layer showed no significant change in bulk density with sintering temperatures. The water absorption of aggregates decreased with sintering temperature, and that of pelletized specimen was standing $1.8{\sim}2.2$ times higher than that of made by other forming methods. It is concluded that the aggregates having various properties could be fabricated from one batch by using different forming methods.
We evaluated the applicability of baking soda, charco'al, coffee, and green tea as a natural deodorant in Kimchi packaging. Moreover, to evaluate the potential usage of these deodorants in packaging materials and confirm their applicability in high-temperature melt-extrusion processing, the thermal stabilities of the deodorants were investigated, and heat-treated deodorants were evaluated in terms of the deodorizing function compared with non-treated deodorants. Aroma patterns were decreased after deodorizing treatment with all-natural deodorants. Dimethyl disulfide, methyl trisulfide, and diallyl disulfide, the most significant odorous Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) of Kimchi, decreased after treatment with the deodorants. In particular, baking soda and charcoal showed the highest efficiency in removing odorous compounds and VOCs from Kimchi, even after high-temperature processing. The acetic acid removal rates for both baking soda and charcoal were 99.9±0.0%. The heating process increases the deodorizing effects of baking soda. Sensory evaluation results showed that there is a significant increase (p < 0.05) in the overall preference for Kimchi samples packaged with charcoal and baking soda. This study provides useful information for the deodorization effects of natural deodorants for Kimchi smell and their applicability for packaging materials.

This paper was researched the effect of slurry stability on the mechanical and electrical property of the porcelain insulator with various raw materials such as feldspar, quartz, clay and l7wt% alumina. The slurry was fabricated after ball milling the mixed raw materials. Green compacts were made by the extrusion and were sintered at 1300$\^{C}$ for 60min in the tunnel kiln. All of the specimens were densified 96% of the theoretical density. The 3-point flexural strength($\sigma$$\_$B/) of the specimen stabilized slurry pH 7.8 was 1650 k9/㎠ and the vickers hardness(Hv) and the fracture toughness(K$\_$IC/) were 27.5 GPa and 2.2 MPa$.$m$\^$$\sfrac{1}{2}$/, respectively. The mechanical properties of the specimen stabilized slurry PH 9.3 were 1716 kg/㎠($\sigma$$\_$B/), 27.6 GPa(Hv) and 3.0 MPa$.$m$\^$$\sfrac{1}{2}$/(K$\_$IC/), respectively. The dielectric strength was increased from 8.3kV/mm to 13.2kV/mm as the increase of the slurry pH from 7.8 to 9.3. Therefore the physical properties of the specimen stabilized slurry pH 9.3 were improved.
To recycle coal bottom ash(denoted here as CBA) generated from thermal power plants as a functional construction material, artificial soil(denoted as AS) containing CBA with dredged soil(denoted as DS) at a ratio(wt%) of 70 : 30 was manufactured by means of material engineering with sintering in a rotary kiln at $1125^{\circ}C$ using a green body formed via extrusion processing. The properties of the soil mechanics of the AS and the as-received CBA were analyzed and compared. Compaction testing results determined an optimum moisture content of the AS and CBA at 18%. During these tests, the maximum dry unit weights of the materials were similar, at 1.57 and 1.58 $t/m^3$, respectively. The compressive strength levels of the AS and CBA concrete specimens were 5.1 and 5.4 $t/m^3$, respectively, both of which increased after materials engineering processing. In a consolidation test, the compression index of the AS and CBA was found to be $0.114{\pm}0.001$ in both cases. The values were similar regardless of the materials engineering processes, but during the consolidation of AS, its coefficient was higher than that of the CBA materials.
This work addresses the development of microfiltration ceramic membrane from alumina using extrusion method. The membranes were sintered at different temperatures ranging between 1000 and 1300℃. The alumina was characterized with thermogravimetric analysis, particle size distribution, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectrometer and scanning electron microscope analysis. Subsequently, the effect of sintering temperature on the membrane properties such as porosity, flexural strength, and pure water permeability was investigated and optimized for the sintering temperature. It is observed that with increasing sintering temperature, the porosity of the membranes decreases and the flexural strength, and pure water permeability of the membranes increase. The uncoated and coated membranes were compared at constant flux mode of filtration. Under the turbidity solution recirculation alone at 100 NTU, trans-membrane pressure (TMP) of uncoated membrane remained constant when the filtration flux was below 121 Lm-2 h -1 , while the coated membrane was 111 Lm-2 h -1 . Although suction pressure increased more rapidly at higher turbidity, coated membrane filtration showed better removal efficiency of the turbidity.
In a basic attempt to develop the prophylactic and therapeutic measures on intestinal giantcystic disease of the Israel carp, C), prinks carpio nudum, the effects of physical and chemical factors on viability or survival of the spores of Thelchcnellus kiteuei were checked in vitro by means of extrusion test on the polar filament. When the fresh spores suspended with 0.45% and 0.9% scdium chloride solution and distilled water were laid at $5^{\circ}C$ and $28^{\circ}C$ for short terms, the extrusion rates increased until the 3rd day, meanwhile when son;e of them were suspended with Tyrode's solution at $-70^{\circ}C$ the rates increased gradually until the 8th day. Viabilities of the spores suspended with 0.9% saline and added antibiotics to the suspension at $5^{\circ}C$ for long terms lasted for 997 days and 1, 256 days (presumed values) at maximum, respectively. The spores suspended with distilled water at $28^{\circ}C$ for long terms survived 152.4 days, but the spores suspended with Tyrode's solution at $-70^{\circ}C$ for long terms showed almost the same viable pattern as early freezing stages up to 780 days. The spores suspended with Tyrode's solution, frozen at $-70^{\circ}C$ and thawed at $5^{\circ}C$, showed the highest rate of extrusion of the polar filament. In the case of frozen spores, the extrusion rates during heating tend to become higher in accordance with the increase of frozen period, and the critical points of 180 day-frozen spores to be killed were generally 78.5 hr. at $60^{\circ}C$, 23.4 hr. at $70^{\circ}C$, 189.1 min. at $80^{\circ}C$ or 10.5 min. at $90^{\circ}C$. The longer the spores were frozen, the more time was needed for the death of spores after thawing; 20 days-17.4 days, 100 days-33.2 days, and 400 days-37.8 days. The longer the spores were frozen, the more time was needed for the death of spores at a conventional when they were dried air drying condition, 540 days-23.5 days, 160 days-21.0 days, and 20 days-14.4 days. On the other hand, the longer the spores were frozen, the more spores were dead rapidly when they were irradiated with 10W UV-ray; 100 days-26.0 hr, 300 days-21.9 hr, and 540 days-13.9 hr. The time needed for killing 200 days-frozen spores by various disinfectants at 1, 000 ppd was 5.2 min. by calcium oxide, 10.4 min. by potassium permanganate, 27.8 min. by malachite green and 14.3 hr. by formalin. Transient inhibitory effects of the extrusion of the polar filament were observed by various antiprotozoal and antifungal agents in the descending order of ketoconazole. metronidasole and dapsone. The above results presume that full drying, followed by spraying CaO and maintaining sunny condition for a few days on the concrete bottoms of knish farm may be an effective method for the prevention of intestinal giant.cystic disease.

Recently, the international community signed a climate change agreement to prevent global warming. Yet currently, the fossil fuels have been widely used in to supply building energy for cooling and heating. The Green Building certification (G-SEED), an energy efficiency rating for new or existing buildings requires that buildings meet certain conditions. Insulation is used as a building material to reduce the energy supply to buildings and to improve the thermal insulation, and it accounts for more than 90% of the total heat resistance provided by the building surface components that meet the energy-saving design standards of new buildings. In this investigation, a performance evaluation study was conducted through an experimental study by directly extracting the foam polystyrene insulation on-site during the remodeling of a building that was in the range of 22~38 years old. Through tests, it was found that the thermal conductivity of the extrusion method insulation (XPS) was reduced by 48% and the compressive strength of XPS decreased by 36% compared to KS M 3808, which is the initial quality standard. For bead method insulation (EPS) with a thickness of 50mm, the thermal conductivity, the compressive strength, and flexural failure load were similar to the initial quality standard. Therefore, in the calculation of the primary energy requirement per unit area per year, the performance of bead method insulation can be estimated simply by considering the thickness of the insulation, while a correction factor that considers its performance deterioration should be applied when extrusion method insulation is used.
