  • This study aims to analyze the green strategies of laboratory buildings in the U.S. developed by LABS21 and LEED of USGBC. To achieve this goal, the paper analyzed the design process of green laboratories and the sustainable planning strategies. Laboratories, as a building type, have specific requirments stipulated by NIH. Chemical restive measures and biosafety level measures needed to be met in laboratory buildings prior to meeting green measures. Obama Admistration's Executive Order 13514 in mind, the paper has mainly focused on the five areas of green planning strategies in the laboratory buildings; site, energy, water, indoor environment, and materials. The study informed that the current green certification program needs to expand into the particular building types in order to; first, provide more realistic energy-saving benchmarking data, and second, provide building-type-specific green strategies.

  • Along with the growing interest in greenhouse gas reduction, the effect of energy reduction from green buildings is gaining interest as well. However, green buildings may have difficulties in financing due to their high initial construction costs. With this in mind, the objective of this study is to suggest a financing model for green building projects with a governmental guarantee based on CER (Certified Emission Reduction). In other words, in the financing model, the government provides a guarantee for the increased costs of a green building project in return for CER. The suggested financing model was tested and found feasible for implementing green building projects. In addition, the model in this study is applicable to private projects because guarantee has its return. To utilize CER as a return for a financial guarantee, however, certification of CDMs (Clean Development Mechanism) for green buildings must be vitalized.

  • The purpose of this study is to study the movie costume and color image through the movie"Vertigo". Firstly, looking into the clothing style and the color image of the characters expressed in the movie, Scottie who had the physical limitation had phobia of height, and he was expressed with the gray color to show his lethargic feeling from his physical limitation. And, after the death of Madeleine, it expressed his sense of loss and depressed mind through the blue color. The comparison of green and red color that was used to link the two characters in Madeleine and her substitution, Judy, mystified her, and the image of dreamy Madeleine has been inscribed to Scottie. In addition, the green color expressed her unstable mind. The clothing expression of Judy is expressed with her unstable mind through the detailed clothing, unlike Madeleine. And, the black color expressed the false identity of her and the Madeleine image of his own for Scottie. The type of clothing is expressed in separates suit and overcoat that are representative ones in 1950s, and black dress with the square neckline and others expressed the silence on conspiracy of Gavin and the false identity of her. Secondly, the color image expressed in the background in the movie as a special space for Scottie and Madeleine. The blue color image for Scottie was shown to be as space for death and the green image for Madeleine as a fantasy.

  • The objective of this study is to define the plans of eco-friendly housing and the meaning of architectural imagination, and to classify diverse sources of the origins of architect's imagination to propose a desirable green housing plan. Generally, imagination which means the process of forming in the mind based on one's previous experience had been perceived negatively for a long time, however, today this perception has changed as new valuation that imagination is the only the motive of human being's behavior patterns comes out. Meanwhile, green design means planning the healthy life in the future by finding the way that people and environment can live together. In order to realize green design in our lives, some plans which concern environment, style, and alternative technology of housing. Especially, in interior design, not only by technology skills but also by green visual environment, eco-friendly houses exist. Therefore, this study examines several elements which gives green atmosphere into the house, and understands how architectural imagination comes out in eco-friendly housing design through verify some examples.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze examples of green infrastructure presented by the American Society of Landscape Architects as a part of basic research to assess hub green spaces in cities. With the specific goal of green infrasturcture in mind, the study samples were classified according to their purpose: 'humanities', 'hydrology', 'ecology', and 'environment'. Based on this we assessed the elements of planning for the target sites and obtained the following results. With regard to the aspect of humanities, planning urban hub green spaces was related to the satisfaction in leisure activities and the 'quality of life' that people expect to enjoy at parks or other green areas in general. Rather than focusing on direct and visible benefits, which might come from green infrastructure's technological elements, people hoped that parks and green areas have macroscopic values. For hydrological characteristics, the 'ecologically manages stormwater' was applied the most in planning hub green spaces in cities, and it mainly took the form of technological elements or factors. Third, the planning elements pertaining to ecological characteristics were identified as a combination of strategies and technological elements that 'reintroduces native plants' and 'habitat for wildlife'. As for the plans to instill eco-friendly aspects, the study found that the research on air, climate, weather, heat reaction, soil, energy efficiency, and use and application of resources is important. However, it was difficult to measure the potential quantitative benefits of 'reusing or recycling materials', 'reducing urban heat', and 'cooling air temperature'. The result of this study is meaningful in that it can be used for the assessment of urban hub green spaces in the future.

  • The green water on deck has many harmful effects on the vessel in rough seas such as damages to hull structures, damages to cargos, increase of the downtime, decrease of the stability, and so on. Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessels (FPSOs) are operated in a specific location and are normally positioned to meet mostly head or bow waves in order to reduce the roll motions. But this makes FPSOs more vulnerable to green water around the bow region therefore the bow shape should be properly designed to mitigate the green water damage. In this paper, experimental results in regular head waves for three kinds of bow shapes are compared and some design considerations are proposed, with the building a database for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) validation in mind.

  • The purpose of this study is to draw implications and critical success factors by surveying and analysing practice cases of green care in south Korea. To achieve the object of this study, many valuable cases were checked through preceding researches and internet informations. Case study targets were divided into side-work farmer type, professional farmer type, and Institution directed type, and then case study surveys were performed by each type. Every case has the natural environment in common, and tries to satisfy users's demands and to give the opportunity to communicate. Especially, the strong motivation, mind, and entrepreneurship of operators are very important factors for green care. If the development of government supporting policies and related education programs are accompanied with lots of potential such as Korean oriental medicine, rural tourism village, and sixth industry project, it will be possible to introduce and manage green care successfully.
