  • The implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) design for tall building structures is an essential solution for addressing critical challenges in the current structural design industry. Generative AI technology is a crucial technical aid because it can acquire knowledge of design principles from multiple sources, such as architectural and structural design data, empirical knowledge, and mechanical principles. This paper presents a set of AI design techniques for building structures based on two types of generative AI: generative adversarial networks and graph neural networks. Specifically, these techniques effectively master the design of vertical and horizontal component layouts as well as the cross-sectional size of components in reinforced concrete shear walls and frame structures of tall buildings. Consequently, these approaches enable the development of high-quality and high-efficiency AI designs for building structures.

  • In this research, an obstacle avoidance method is proposed. The common usage of a robot is indoor and the obstacles to the indoor robot is studied. The accurate detection of direction after overcoming the obstacles is necessary for performance of autonomous navigation and mission project. The sensors such as Laser, Ultrasound, PSD can be used to measure the obstacles. In this research, a PSD sensor is used to detect obstacles. It detects the height and width of obstacles located on the floor. Before measuring the obstacles, a calibration of the sensor was done and it produced a better accuracy. We have plotted an error graph using data obtained from the repeated experiments. The graph is fitted to a polynomial curve. The polynomial equation is used for the robot navigation. And in this research, a model of the error of the direction of the robot after overcoming obstacles was obtained also. The prototype of the obstacle and the error of the direction after overcoming the obstacles are modelled using a neural networks. The input of the neural network composed with the height of the obstacles, the speed of robot, the direction of wheels and the error of the direction. To implement the suggested algorithm, we set up a robot which is operated by a notebook computer. Experiment showed the suggested algorithm performed well.

  • Automatically detecting mentions of pharmaceutical drugs and chemical substances is key for the subsequent extraction of relations of chemicals with other biomedical entities such as genes, proteins, diseases, adverse reactions or symptoms. The identification of drug mentions is also a prior step for complex event types such as drug dosage recognition, duration of medical treatments or drug repurposing. Formally, this task is known as named entity recognition (NER), meaning automatically identifying mentions of predefined entities of interest in running text. In the domain of medical texts, for chemical entity recognition (CER), techniques based on hand-crafted rules and graph-based models can provide adequate performance. In the recent years, the field of natural language processing has mainly pivoted to deep learning and state-of-the-art results for most tasks involving natural language are usually obtained with artificial neural networks. Competitive resources for drug name recognition in English medical texts are already available and heavily used, while for other languages such as Spanish these tools, although clearly needed were missing. In this work, we adapt an existing neural NER system, NeuroNER, to the particular domain of Spanish clinical case texts, and extend the neural network to be able to take into account additional features apart from the plain text. NeuroNER can be considered a competitive baseline system for Spanish drug and CER promoted by the Spanish national plan for the advancement of language technologies (Plan TL).

  • With the advent of 5G and B5G (Beyond 5G) networks, network virtualization technology that can overcome the limitations of existing networks is attracting attention. The purpose of network virtualization is to provide solutions for efficient network resource utilization and various services. Existing heuristic-based VNE (Virtual Network Embedding) techniques have been studied, but the flexibility is limited. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a GNN-based network slicing classification scheme to meet various service requirements and a RL-based VNE scheme for optimal resource allocation. The proposed method performs optimal VNE using an Actor-Critic network. Finally, to evaluate the performance of the proposed technique, we compare it with Node Rank, MCST-VNE, and GCN-VNE techniques. Through performance analysis, it was shown that the GNN and RL-based VNE techniques are better than the existing techniques in terms of acceptance rate and resource efficiency.

  • Electroencephalography (EEG) produces time-series data of neural oscillations in the brain, and is one of the most commonly used methods for investigating both normal brain functions and brain disorders. Quantitative EEG analysis enables identification of frequencies and brain activity that are activated or impaired. With studies on the structural and functional networks of the brain, the concept of the brain as a complex network has been fundamental to understand normal brain functions and the pathophysiology of various neurological disorders. Functional connectivity is a measure of neural synchrony in the brain network that refers to the statistical interdependency between neural oscillations over time. In this review, we first discuss the basic methods of EEG analysis, including preprocessing, spectral analysis, and functional-connectivity and graph-theory measures. We then review previous EEG studies of brain network characterization in several neurological disorders, including epilepsy, Alzheimer's disease, dementia with Lewy bodies, and idiopathic rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder. Identifying the EEG-based network characteristics might improve the understanding of disease processes and aid the development of novel therapeutic approaches for various neurological disorders.

  • Federated learning (FL) is a ground breaking machine learning paradigm that allow smultiple participants to collaboratively train models in a cloud environment, all while maintaining the privacy of their raw data. This approach is in valuable in applications involving sensitive or geographically distributed data. However, one of the challenges in FL is dealing with heterogeneous and non-independent and identically distributed (non-IID) data across participants, which can result in suboptimal model performance compared to traditionalmachine learning methods. To tackle this, we introduce FedGCD, a novel FL algorithm that employs Graph Neural Network (GNN)-based community detection to enhance model convergence in federated settings. In our experiments, FedGCD consistently outperformed existing FL algorithms in various scenarios: for instance, in a non-IID environment, it achieved an accuracy of 0.9113, a precision of 0.8798,and an F1-Score of 0.8972. In a semi-IID setting, it demonstrated the highest accuracy at 0.9315 and an impressive F1-Score of 0.9312. We also introduce a new metric, nonIIDness, to quantitatively measure the degree of data heterogeneity. Our results indicate that FedGCD not only addresses the challenges of data heterogeneity and non-IIDness but also sets new benchmarks for FL algorithms. The community detection approach adopted in FedGCD has broader implications, suggesting that it could be adapted for other distributed machine learning scenarios, thereby improving model performance and convergence across a range of applications.

  • This study explores the possibility of automated scoring for scientific graph answers by designing an automated scoring model using convolutional neural networks and applying it to students' kinematics graph answers. The researchers prepared 2,200 answers, which were divided into 2,000 training data and 200 validation data. Additionally, 202 student answers were divided into 100 training data and 102 test data. First, in the process of designing an automated scoring model and validating its performance, the automated scoring model was optimized for graph image classification using the answer dataset prepared by the researchers. Next, the automated scoring model was trained using various types of training datasets, and it was used to score the student test dataset. The performance of the automated scoring model has been improved as the amount of training data increased in amount and diversity. Finally, compared to human scoring, the accuracy was 97.06%, the kappa coefficient was 0.957, and the weighted kappa coefficient was 0.968. On the other hand, in the case of answer types that were not included in the training data, the s coring was almos t identical among human s corers however, the automated scoring model performed inaccurately.

  • Recently, a convolutional neural network (CNN) based system is being developed to overcome the limitations of human resources in the apple quality classification of farmhouse. However, since convolutional neural networks receive only images of the same size, preprocessing such as sampling may be required, and in the case of oversampling, information loss of the original image such as image quality degradation and blurring occurs. In this paper, in order to minimize the above problem, to generate a image patch based graph of an original image and propose a random walk-based positional encoding method to apply the graph transformer model. The above method continuously learns the position embedding information of patches which don't have a positional information based on the random walk algorithm, and finds the optimal graph structure by aggregating useful node information through the self-attention technique of graph transformer model. Therefore, it is robust and shows good performance even in a new graph structure of random node order and an arbitrary graph structure according to the location of an object in an image. As a result, when experimented with 5 apple quality datasets, the learning accuracy was higher than other GNN models by a minimum of 1.3% to a maximum of 4.7%, and the number of parameters was 3.59M, which was about 15% less than the 23.52M of the ResNet18 model. Therefore, it shows fast reasoning speed according to the reduction of the amount of computation and proves the effect.
