  • A finite element analysis is performed to predict the recrystallized volume fraction and the mean grain size in hot compression of Al-5wt%Mg alloy. In the analysis, a modeling equation of flow stress is assumed as a function of strain, strain rate, and temperature. And the influence of above varibles on flow stress is quantified by using Zener-Hollomon Parameter. In the modeling equation, effects of strain hardening and dynamic recrystallization on microstructure of Al-5wt%Mg alloy are investigated. The predicted results of recrystallized volume fraction and mean grain size are in good agreement with those of microstructures obtained from hot compression tests.

  • The effect of annealing condition on the texture and microstructure development in Ni tapes fabricated by cold-rolling including powder metallurgy was investigated. The Pole-figure results showed that the Ni tapes annealed at lower temperature than 50$0^{\circ}C$ were the mixture of brass deformation texture and cube texture. The specimens annealed at high temperatures had only well-developed cube texture and the FWHMs of in-plane and out-of-plane were in the range of 8-10$^{\circ}$. The degree of texture was not significantly depended on annealing temperatures. The grain morphologies of Ni tapes prepared at low temperatures showed serrated grain boundaries due to incomplete recrystallization, but the specimens prepared at high temperatures showed stabilized grain shape without serrated grain boundaries.

  • The influence of grain boundary on the electrical properties of WO3-doped SrTiO3 ceramics has been investi-gated. From the result resistivity and capacitance of grains and boundaries were obtained by employing impedance spectrocopy. And the temperature dependance of capacitance of WO3-doped SrTiO3. was influenced directly by the variation of grain boundary capacitance. It was also found by impedance spectroscopy that the dispersion frequency characteristics showed discernibly that the resistivity of the specimen varied with WO3 content.

  • The microstructure with fine and uniform AGS(austenite grain size) along thickness direction over no recrystallization temperature is strongly required for production of the high strength steels. The previous AGS prediction only based on the average strain improves to find the rolling conditions for accomplishment of the fine grain, but cannot find those for uniform grain. In this paper, an integrated mathematical model for prediction of the strain distribution along thickness direction is developed by carrying out finite element simulation for a series of rolling conditions. Also, the AGS distribution after rough rolling is predicted by applying the proposed model with AGS prediction model.

  • Effects of sintering conditions such as sintering temperature and heating rate on oxygen content, density, microstructure and toughness of sintered Mo were investigated. The oxygen content of the sintered Mo significantly depended on the sintering conditions. The oxygen content of the primary sintered(below 1673 K) Mo influenced the densifications. The number of pores at grain boundaries of the secondary sintered(at 2073 K)Mo depended on the oxygen content of the primary sintered Mo. Grain growth of the secondary sintered Mo was inhibited by the existence of pores at the grain boundaries. The secondary sintered Mo having larger number of pore and smaller grain size demonstrated higher strength.

  • In this paper deals with behavior of the magnetic abrasive using sludge on polishing characteristics in a new internal finishing of seamless stainless steel tube applying magnetic abrasive polishing. The magnetic abrasive using sludge-abrasive grain WA and GC used to resin bond fabricated low temperature. And sludge of magnetic abrasive powder fabricated that sludge was crused into 200 mesh. The previous research have made an experiment in the static state the movement of magnetic abrasive grain is nevertheless in the dynamic state. In this paper, We could have investigated into the changes of the movement of magnetic abrasive grain. In reference to this result, we could have made the experiment which is set under the condition of the magnetic flux density, polishing velocity according to the form of magnetic brush.

  • Based on the pore filling theory, the microstructure evolution during liquid-phase sintering has been analyzed in terms of interrelationship between average grain size and relative density. For constant liquid volume fraction, the microsturucture trajectories reduced to a single curve in a grain size(x)-density(y) map, regardless of grain growth constant. The slope of curves in the map was inversely proportional to average pore size, while it increased fapidly with liquid volume fraction. Increase in pore volume fraction retarded the densification considerably, but showed marginal effect on the slope. The activation energy of densification was predicted to be the same as that of grain growth as long as the liquid volume fraction is constant for any temperature range studied. The present analyses on microstricture evolution may demonstrate the usefulness of pore filling theory and provide a guideline for process optimization of liquid-phase sintering.

  • Grain boundary chemistry and electrical characteristics of polycrystalline BaTiO3 ceramics, which were prepared with sol-gel surface-coated semiconducting powders, were investigated. Mn ions were coated on the powder surface by sol-gel coating-techniques. The additives coated on the surface of the powders were observed to be present near the grain boundaries of the ceramics. The ceramics exhibit the PTCR characteristics with a resistivity jump ratio(Pmax/Pmin) of about 2$\times$103. With raising the temperature from room temprature to 20$0^{\circ}C$, the oxidation state of the Mn ions varied from Mn3+ to Mn2+ in the coating layers. Near the grain boundaries an excessive negative charge layer of about 20nm was formed.

  • Growth behavior and kinetics of grains in a liquid matrix has been studied by computer simulation for various physical and processing conditions. The kinetics of growing and dissolving grains were considered to follow those of single crystals in a matrix. Depending on the shape of crystals, rounded or faceted, different kinetic equations were adopted for growing grains and an identical equation for dissolving grains. Effects of such critical parameters as step free energy, temperature, and liquid volume fraction were evaluated.
