  • During the ground fault conditions, the flow of current to earth will produce potential gradients within and arround a substation. The common physiological effects of electric current on the body, stated in order of increasing current magnitude, are threshold perception, muscular contraction, unconsciousness, fabrillation of the heart. In this study, determined the tolerable voltage about earth-layered structure in the grounding system.

  • This paper concerns the cladding residual stresses in a reactor vessel induced during cooling from the manufacturing temperature down to room temperature Finite element results show that very large stress gradients are present at the interface corner and such stress singularity might lead to local yielding or cladding-base metal debonding.

  • Purpose: To obtain quantitative diffusion-tensor anisotropy information of human cerebral structu using turbo STEAM diffusion-tensor imaging. Method: Quantitative diffusion anisotropy MR images were obtained in 7 healthy adults using turbo STEAM sequence and a combination of tetrahedral and orthogonal diffusi gradients. Both relative anisotropy(RA) and fractional anisotropy(FA) values were measured various brain regions. The anisotropy index was then compared with the reported valu resulting from EPI-based diffusion tensor imaging.

  • Purpose: To obtain normative human skeletal muscle data and evaluate quantitative diffusion-ten anisotropy information using diffusion-tensor imaging technique. Method: Quantitative extremity muscle diffusion tensor MR images were obtained in 5 healt adults by using turbo STEAM sequence and a combination of tetrahedral and orthogon diffusion gradients. Relative anisotropy(RA) and fractional anisotropy(FA) values we measured in soleus and gastrocnemius muscle in addition to mean ADC value.

  • In this paper we develop algorithms in programming lan-guage SCHEME for implementation of the main first order gradient techniques for unconstrained optimization. Implementation of the de-scent techniques which use non-optimal descent steps as well as imple-mentation of the optimal descent techniques are described. Also we investigate implementation of the global problem called optimization along a line. Developed programs are effective and simpler with re-spect to the corresponding in the procedural programming languages. Several numerical examples are reported.

  • The good features of the analytic function expansion nodal (AFEN) method are utilized to develop a practical scheme jot the multigroup diffusion problems, in combination with the polynomial expansion nodal (PEN) method. The thermal group fluxes exhibiting strong gradients are solved by the AFEN method[1-6], while the fast group fluxes that are smoother than the thermal group fuzes are solved by the PEN method[7-9]. The scheme is applied to a MOX-fuel loaded core with good results.

  • Light membrane vesicles were isolated from the zucchini hypocotyl by floatation on ficoll density gradients and the proteins were solubilized with Triton X100. Three ATP-hydrolyzing enzymes were partially purified by ion-exchange and gel filtration chromatography and isoelectric focusing. There are plasma membrane-type ATPase whose activity was inhibited by vanadate but not by nitrate, tonoplast-type ATPase which was sensitive to nitrate but insensitive to vanadate and one having a phosphatase activity with a pI value different from that of an acid phosphatase. A fraction was obtained after DEAE-ion-exchange chromatography crossreacting with polyclonal antibodies against Ca2+ -ATPase from human erythrocytes.
