`Kyukonyoram Dyusikbang` is an old cooking book hand-written in Korean by unknown writer, housed in Shinam-mungo of the Korea university. This book introduces Tojungbigyul and Dyusikbang(the part about food), and explains in detail how to handle emergency cases at home, take care of women who deliver a baby and give it name and so on. It can be summarized as follows. (1) 29 'Koi's seem to keep unexpected accidents and encourage people to enjoy stable life at home. (2) In this book are not only 27 ways of how to make liquors but also ways of how to cook dishes using 12 kinds of food with cold water and one kind of rice cakes. (3) It says good yeast is critical for good quality liquors and also emphasizes the. taste of good 'Jang' to enhance the taste of other food and the importance of having basic food materials and spices at home. (4) It describes in detail the day of good or ill luck while mentioning how to name a baby. It can be seen that there were somethings that were considered especially important such as the process of making Jang, the day of placing the rooftop, or the good or ill luck of people.
This study examined discourses on “wise-mother and good-wife” in the 1920s - 1930s by analyzing the magazine “Shinyeosung.” This study found the following: 1 “Wise-mother and good-wife” was the ideal type for the “new women” during the colonial period. Hut the role of a mother was far more important than that of a wife. 2. The dominant discourse at the time was that the “genuine” new woman was defined by her motherhood, and she could not have a job because raising children was the most Important task for her. Hut in fact, new women wanted to be a wife through free love and marriage. They wished to be a good-wife in the “new (modern) family” for their loving husbands. 3. The Ideas of “wise-mother” and “good-wife” arose from disparate backgrounds. A woman had to nurture her maternal aptitudes; but had to suppress her passion for free love and marriage. Although she had to learn Western methods of bringing up children instead of the traditional one, she was expected to practice traditional virtues of a wife, not Western attitudes. The role of a mother was decided by experts, but that of a wife was decided by husbands. The function of a good-wife was merely a clever handling of her husband, whereas the function of a mother was considered to require professional knowledge. 4. New women could differentiate themselves from “old women” through the roles of wise-mother and good-wife; nonetheless, those roles were forced by society. They did not have any other viable choices.
The purpose of this study is to understand traditional values, attitudes, the methods of expression and to develop Korean-style counseling method through the life and philosophy of Yeonam Park Ji Won. This study found the value of counseling in the life and philosophy of Yeonam Park Ji Won and extracted the counseling elements. Finally, this study systematized them as the counselor's good attitude, the counselor's ability for human relationships and the counseling strategy for helping other people. The counselor's attitude which we can learn from Yeonam is to give a deep impression, to converse making other's thought to expand, to initiate other people into the way of enjoying life, to scold for other's desirable change and growth, to use various cautionary topic, to make use of a good sense of humor, to make use of a creative methods, to make other people to mature in their ability. It is meaningful that this study systematized the counselor's good attitude and counseling strategy which are able to be used in modern counseling through the life and philosophy of Yeonam. In the future, it can be developed into more worthy counseling knowledge which can be used in reality through continuous study and verification.
In (Advaita) $Ved{\bar{a}}nta$ although human beings are destined to have a pessimistic starting point in life, their goal of life is to become a Perfect Being which is called 'Liberation' (mokṣa) by self-transcendence. This human goal together with several means are accepted by $Ved{\bar{a}}nta$ as solely valuable thing in the life. In this way there must be a self-recognition of his own value in the process of Liberation, through which one recognizes his own true nature i.e. ${\bar{A}}tman$. ${\bar{A}}tman$ is clearly defined to be 'Existence, Consciousness, Bliss' (Being, Illumination, Good), and this definition is made with the view of revealing that It is ultimate foundation and source of human beings ontologically, epistemologically and axiologically. However, as $Ved{\bar{a}}ntic$points of view on human goal are not without critical limitations, it may be necessary to revaluate 'the process of self-inquiry' devised to achieve human goal. Inquiry is, first of all, an accepting process of what is given in $Ved{\bar{a}}nta$ as the scenario that gives rise to most actual result, then, a performing and verifying process of that scenario in one's own experience consistently. In this process, a shift of action from worldly life to unworldly life is what is called 'self-adjustment', a removal of 'the self in excess' through knowledge of the real Self is what is called 'simplification of the self', and at the end of simplification a state of ultimate Self is 'Liberation'. Therefore, the inquiry of $Ved{\bar{a}}nta$ into human goal can be summarized as following formula; 'good action = self-adjustment' ${\rightarrow}$ 'good knowledge = simplification of the self' ${\rightarrow}$ 'Liberation = ultimate Self'.

The data collection was performed during the March to the November of 1999. The research tools used for the measurement of the lifestyle for health promotion was "The Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile" developed by Walker, Sechrist and Pender. Measurement of the health condition was carried out using CMI(Cornell Medical Index) developed by Brodman, Erdmann, Lorge and Wolff. The Index for degree of the life satisfaction of elderly developed by Yun Jin was utilized to measure the degree of life satisfaction. Data analysis was performed using SPSSWin 9.0 software. In some cases, frequency, percentile, t-test, ANOVA or Pearson Correlation was also used to meet the specific research purposes when necessary. Tukey test was done for the post test. The conclusions are as follows. 1) The ANOVA test showed a significant difference in the lifestyle for the health promotion depending on physical constitutions of the interviewee. According to the Tukey test, 태음인 ($103.67{\pm}16.81$) performed better lifestyle for the health promotion than SOEMIN(少陰人, $85.34{\pm}12.69$) and 소양인($88.47{\pm}16.81$) (F=6.72, p=.003). 2) The result of the Pearson Correlation showed a positive correlation between the lifestyle for health promotion and health condition. As a result, the group practicing lifestyle for health promotion maintained a good health condition. Result of the Pearson Correlation also showed a proportional correlation between the lifestyle for health promotion and life satisfaction. Accordingly, the group practicing lifestyle for health promotion maintained a high degree of life satisfaction. Objective: This study aimed to determine effects of doctor-patient communication on the quality of life among breast cancer survivors in 16 communities in southern China. Methods: Multistage random sampling was to use to recruit 260 females from the Guangzhou Cancer Registry Database who were diagnosed with breast cancer. A questionnaire provided data on the doctor-patient communication (including the doctor's attitude, the patient's participation with the medical decision and information about the disease) and QOL (quality of life), as measured using FACT-B. Univariate analysis, non-conditional logistic regression was used to evaluate the associations between the doctor-patient communication and QOL. Results: Females who received good attitudes from doctors demonstrated higher FACT-B (OR=4.65, 95% CI: 1.68-12.86), social well-being (OR=5.88, 95% CI: 2.16-16.05), emotional well-being (OR=4.77, 95% CI: 1.92-11.88), and functional well-being ((OR=5.26, 95% CI: 1.90-14.52) compared to the females who encountered worse attitudes from their doctor, adjusting for age, education, marriage, employment, family income, years since diagnosis, TNM stage, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and side effects, particularly when the TNM stage was 0-II and the patients exhibited no side effects. Regardless of the length of time after diagnosis, doctors' good attitudes resulted in higher QOL scores. Conclusions: This study demonstrated that the doctor-patient communication has a significant association with the QOL of breast cancer survivors, mainly dependent on the doctors' attitude. Effective intervention is required to develop optimal doctor-patient communication.
