야간 영상에서의 빛 번짐 현상을 이용한 교통신호등 인식 (Traffic Light Recognition Based on the Glow Effect at Night Image)

  • Traffic lights at night are usually framed in the image as bright regions bigger than the real size due to glow effect. Moreover, the colors of lighting region saturate to white. So it is difficult to distinguish between different traffic lights at night. Many related studies have tried to decrease the glow effect in the process of capturing images. Some studies drastically decreased the shutter time of the camera to reduce the adverse effect by the glow. However, this makes the video too dark. This study proposes a new idea which utilizes the glow effect. It examines the outer radial region of traffic light. It presents an algorithm to discriminate the color of traffic light by the analysis of the outer radial region. The advantage of the proposed method is that it can recognize traffic lights in the image captured by an ordinary black box camera. Experimental results using seven short videos show the performance of traffic light recognition reporting the precision of 96.4% and the recall of 98.2%. These results show that the proposed method is valid and effective.

서로 다른 전극간격에서 이차전자 방출이 글로우 방전에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (Effect of Secondary Electron Emission on the Glow Discharges with Different Electrode Gaps)

  • In this paper, the effect of the secondary electron emission coefficient of Xe ion on glow discharge was examined by ID numerical simulation. The simulation was performed for two distinct structures, short and long gaps. The features of the glow discharges in the both structures, firing and sustain voltages, luminance, and efficiency, were analyzed at various secondary electron emission coefficient of Xe ion.

  • 천연 녹주석의 방사선조사에 의한 효과를 없애기 위한 열처리방법을 연구하였다. Glow곡선분석에서 최적열처리시간과 온도는 145$0^{\circ}C$에서 1시간이었고, 녹주석을 다시 사용할 시에는 145$0^{\circ}C$에서 1시간동안 열처리를 다시 할 필요는 없고 55$0^{\circ}C$에서 1시간만 열처리를 하면 된다. 145$0^{\circ}C$에서 열처리된 녹주석시료를 $^{60}$Co감마선으로 100R 조사한 후 glow곡선을 그려보니 $65^{\circ}C$와 20$0^{\circ}C$에서 glow peaks를 발견하였다. $65^{\circ}C$ glow peak는 곧 없어졌으나 20$0^{\circ}C$ glow peak는 매우 안정하였다. 따라서 열형광방사선측정에는 20$0^{\circ}C$ glow peak를 이용하여 $^{60}$Co감마선을 측정할 수 있다.

Suppression of Glow Corona on Streamer and Influence of Thin Wire on its Inception

  • Glow corona is a kind of streamer-free corona that can suppress upward leaders in transmission lines. Thus, it has good application potential in lightning protection. This paper investigates its corona characteristics. The suppression characteristic of glow corona on streamer is studied in air gap under negative DC voltage by wrapping thin wires on the electrode. The effect of thin wire winding patterns on the gap breakdown voltage is analyzed. Results are considered to be attributed to the inception condition of glow corona. Thus an inception test of glow corona is also conducted, and the inception voltage is obtained. Results show that the inception voltage decreases with short winding pitch. Thus an investigation on the inception of glow corona influenced by thin wire is conducted, and an influential factor is proposed to evaluate the influence. The inception regular of thin wire glow corona presented in this paper has certain reference value for the application of glow corona in transmission lines.

An Experimental Approach for Verifying the Effect of Scattered Gamma-rays on the “Before Glow”in a Thermoluminescent Glow Curve

  • 수정의 영형광 glow curve 상,"before glow"의 생성원인중의 하나가 밀폐된 제한 공간내의 산란 감마선의 기여임을 확인하기 위하여 산란선대 일차선의 기여비(S/P)를 측정하였다. 이 S/P와 "before glow"의 유효높이 ($h_{b}$)와의 상관 관계를 고찰하였는바 상관계수+0.9라는 비교적 밀접한 일차 관계가 있음을 알았으며 이는 에너지가 감소된 산란 선에 의하여 여기되었던 전자가 본래 일차선으로 여기되었던 전자보다 얕은 trap에 걸려 있었음을 입증하는 것으로 보인다. 한편 $h_{b}$와 glow curve의 전면적 (At)의 비 및 "before glow"의 유효면적(Ab)과 At 와의 비가 S/P와 어떤 관계에 있는가도 조사하였는데 이들의 관계는 단순하지 않으며 다만 S/P 값이 0.035 보다 큰 영역에서는 간단한 대수함수로 표현되었다. 끝으로 자연수정을 TLD로 사용할 경우 그 재사용을 위한 선량한계를 살펴본 결과 그것은 $10^{5}$ R 정도임을 알아내었다.

불순물 $MgCl_2$를 첨가한 LiF 분말의 열형광 (Thermoluminescence of $MgCl_2$-Activated LiF Powder)

  • 순도 99.98%의 LiF 분말에서 열형광을 검출하였으며 이 때 glow curve의 Peak는 12$0^{\circ}C$, 22$0^{\circ}C$ 및 30$0^{\circ}C$에 있다. 이 LiF 분말에 중량비로 2%(mol 비로 4%)의 MgC1$_2$를 첨가하여 소결시킨 LiF 분말은 비약적으로 강한 열형광을 발휘하였으며 그 flow curve의 특성이 상세하게 조사되었다. 열형광선량계로서 이용되고 있는 LiF는 Mg, Mn 등의 불순물에 의한 전자 trap을 가지고 있는 것이 알려져 있으며 이 실험결과는 이들 불순물중의 하나인 Mg가 확실히 LiF의 결정내에 확신된 것을 시사한다. 소결시간의 효과를 glow curve에서 명확하게 검출하였고 또한 원료인 MgC1$_2$도 열형광을 발휘한다는 것이 이 glow curve를 얻음으로써 확인되었다.

Optical Sensitivity of TL Glow Peaks Separated Using Computerized Glow Curve Deconvolution for RTL Quartz

  • Background: The retrospective dosimetry using RTL quartz can be improved by information for an optical sensitivity of sample connected with the equivalent dose determination. Materials and Methods: The quartz sample from a volcanic rock of Japan was used. After correcting the thermal quenching effect, RTL peaks of quartz were separated by the CGCD method cooperated with the general order kinetics. The number of overlapped glow peaks were ascertained by the $T_m-T_{stop}$ method. The optical sensitivity was examined by comparing the change of intensity on RTL glow peaks measured after exposure to light from a solar simulator with various illumination times. Results and Discussion: Seven glow peaks appeared to be overlapped on the RTL glow curve. The general order kinetics model was appropriate to separate glow peaks. After exposure to light from a solar simulator from a few minutes to 416 hr, the signals for peaks P4 and P5 decayed following the form of $f(t)=a_1e^{-{\lambda}1t}$, while the signals for peaks P6 and P7 decayed by the form of $f(t) = a_1e^{-{\lambda}1t}+a_2e^{-{\lambda}2t}+a_3e^{-{\lambda}3t}$. Conclusion: For dosimetric peaks, the times taken to reduce the RTL signal to half of its initial value were 70 sec for the peak P4, 54 s for the peak P5, 9,840 sec for the peak P6 and 26,580 sec for the peak P7, respectively. We conclude that the optical sensitivity of peaks P4, and P5 gives much higher than that of peaks P6 and P7.

  • The change in discharge current of a glow discharge has been shown the potential sensitive detector for gas chromatography. To investigate the effect of carrier gas on the electrical characteristics of the discharge and the peak response, the discharge pressure, gas flow rate, and discharge gap have been studied. The discharge gas included the Ar, He, and N$_{2}$. The gas flow rate has been found one of the important parameters to affect both the electrical characteristics and the peak response.

  • Glow Discharge를 이용한 고체 시료의 극미량 원소분석은 흡광, 방출, 형광 그리고 질량 분석 방법들이 특히 금속 시료들의 분석을 위해 많이 연구되어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 자체 제작한 Gas-Jet-assisted Glow Discharge(GJGD)를 이용하여 각 실험변수에 따른 영향을 비교하여 보았다. 제작한 글로우 방전의 특성화 실험에 사용한 실험 변수로는 전류, 방전 가스의 흐름 속도, 압력 등이었고 시료는 황동을 사용하였다. 시료의 주원소인 구리(Cu)와 아연(Zn)의 방출선세기와 방전가스인 아르곤(Ar)의 상대적인 세기를 비교하여 보았는데, 대체적으로 전류의 증가는 튕겨나옴(Sputtering) 현상을 촉진시켜 방출선의 세기가 증가하였고 가스 흐름 속도는 플라즈마 속으로의 수송과 확산에 관여하여 증가될수록 방출선의 세기를 감소시켰다. 글로우 방전 내의 압력의 증가는 튕겨나옴 현상을 감소시킴과 더불어 시료 표면으로의 재부착을 증가시켜 방출선의 세기가 급격히 감소함을 보여 주었다.

ANALYSIS OF THE LiF:Mg,Cu,Si TL AND THE LiF:Mg,Cu,P TL GLOW CURVES BY USING GENERAL APPROXIMATION PLUS MODEL

  • In this paper, we used computerized glow curve deconvolution (CGCD) software with several models for the simulation of a TL glow curve which was used for analysis. By using the general approximation plus model, parameters values of the glow curve were analyzed and compared with the other models parameters (general approximation, mixed order kinetics, general order kinetics). The LiF:Mg,Cu,Si and the LiF:Mg,Cu,P material were used for the glow curve analysis. And we based on figure of merits (FOM) which was the goodness of the fitting that was monitored through the value between analysis model and TLD materials. The ideal value of FOM is 0 which represents a perfect fit. The main glow peak makes the most effect of radiation dose assessment of TLD materials. The main peak of the LiF:Mg,Cu,Si materials has a intensity rate 80.76% of the whole TL glow intensity, and that of LiF:Mg,Cu,P materials has a intensity rate 68.07% of the whole TL glow intensity. The activation energy of LiF:Mg,Cu,Si was analyzed as 2.39 eV by result of the general approximation plus(GAP) model. In the case of mixed order kinetics (MOK), the activation energy was analyzed as 2.29 eV. The activation energy was analyzed as 2.38 eV by the general order kinetics (GOK) model. In the case of LiF:Mg,Cu,P TLD, the activation energy was analyzed as 2.39 eV by result of the GAP model. In the case of MOK, the activation energy was analyzed as 2.55 eV. The activation energy was analyzed as 2.51 eV by the GOK model. The R value means different ratio of retrapping-recombination. The R value of LiF:Mg,Cu,Si TLD main peak analyzed as $1.12\times10^{-6}$ and $\alpha$ value analyzed as $1.0\times10^{-3}$. The R of LiF:Mg,Cu,P TLD analyzed as $7.91\times10^{-4}$, the $\alpha$ value means different ratio of initial thermally trapped electron density-initial trapped electron density (include thermally disconnected trap electrons density). The $\alpha$ value was analyzed as $9.17\times10^{-1}$ which was the difference from LiF:Mg,Cu,Si TLD. The deep trap electron density of LiF:Mg,Cu,Si was higher than the deep trap electron density of LiF:Mg,Cu,P.
