With precise sensor position, attitude element, and imaging resolution, a simulated geospatial image can be generated. In this study, a satellite image is simulated using SPOT ortho-image and global elevation data, and the geometric similarity between original and simulated images is analyzed. Using a SPOT panchromatic image and high-density elevation data from a 1/5K digital topographic map data an ortho-image with 10-meter resolution was produced. The simulated image was then generated by exterior orientation parameters and global elevation data (SRTM1, GDEM2). Experimental results showed that (1) the agreement of the image simulation between pixel location from the SRTM1/GDEM2 and high-resolution elevation data is above 99% within one pixel; (2) SRTM1 is closer than GDEM2 to high-resolution elevation data; (3) the location of error occurrence is caused by the elevation difference of topographical objects between high-density elevation data generated from the Digital Terrain Model (DTM) and Digital Surface Model (DSM)-based global elevation data. Error occurrences were typically found at river boundaries, in urban areas, and in forests. In conclusion, this study showed that global elevation data are of practical use in generating simulated images with 10-meter resolution.

Explicitly spatially distributed and reliable data on industrial water demand is very much important for both policy makers and researchers in order to carry a region-specific analysis of water resources management. However, such type of data remains scarce particularly in underdeveloped and developing countries. Current research is limited in using different spatially available socio-economic, climate data and geographical data from different sources in accordance to predict industrial water demand at finer resolution. This study proposes a random forest regression (RFR) model to predict the industrial water demand at 0.50× 0.50 spatial resolution by combining various features extracted from multiple data sources. The dataset used here include National Polar-orbiting Partnership (NPP)/Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) night-time light (NTL), Global Power Plant database, AQUASTAT country-wise industrial water use data, Elevation data, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Road density, Crop land, Population, Precipitation, Temperature, and Aridity. Compared with traditional regression algorithms, RF shows the advantages of high prediction accuracy, not requiring assumptions of a prior probability distribution, and the capacity to analyses variable importance. The final RF model was fitted using the parameter settings of ntree = 300 and mtry = 2. As a result, determinate coefficients value of 0.547 is achieved. The variable importance of the independent variables e.g. night light data, elevation data, GDP and population data used in the training purpose of RF model plays the major role in predicting the industrial water demand.
A DEM(digital elevation model) is generated from a SPOT panchromatic stereo-pair using automated algorithms over a 8 km$\times$10 km region around Mokpo city. The aims are to continue the accuracy assessment over diverse conditions and to examine the applicability of a SPOT DEM for coastal disaster monitoring. The accuracy is assessed with respect to three reference data sets: 10 global positioning system records, 19 leveling data, and 1:50,000 topography map. The planimetric error is 10.6m r.m.s. and the elevation erroer ranges from 12.4m to 14.4m r.m.s.. The DEM accuracy of the flat Mokpo region is consistent with that over a mountainous area, which supports the robustness of the algorithms. It was found that coordinate transformation errors are significant at a few meters when using the data from leveling and topographic maps. The error budget is greater than the requirements for coastal disaster monitoring. Exploiting that a sub-scene is used, the affine transformation improves the accuracy by 50% during the camera modeling.
The Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS), a dedicated regional Japanese satellite system currently under development, was designed to complement the performance of the Global Positioning System (GPS). The high elevation angle of the QZSS satellite is expected to enhance the effectiveness of GPS in urban environments. Thus, the work described in this paper, aimed to investigate the effect of QZSS on GPS performance, by processing the GPS and QZSS measurements recorded at the Bohyunsan reference station in South Korea. We used these data, to evaluate the satellite visibility, carrier-to-noise density (C/No), performance of single point positioning, and Dilution of Precision (DOP). The QZSS satellite is currently available over South Korea for 19 hours at an elevation angle of more than 10 degrees. The results showed that the impact of the QZSS on users' vertical positioning is greatest when the satellite is above 80 degrees of elevation. As for Precise Point Positioning (PPP) performance, the combined GPS/QZSS kinematic PPP was found to improve the positioning accuracy compared to the GPS only kinematic PPP.
The effect of elevation and meteorological elements is analyzed in Jeju Island for analysis of evapotranspiration with two different height observation station during 3 years data. The slope of temperature gradient recorded $1.30^{\circ}C$/100 m from the analysis of temperature data. There is much difference evapotranspiration between low elevation and high elevation station because of decrease solar radiation and wind speed with height increase. The evapotranspiration is observed by mini lysimeter at Hankukgonghang. The result of observation is presented 34.2% of global solar radiation changed into evapotranspiration during 4 clear days.
In this study, we implemented the data quality monitoring algorithm which is the previous step for real-time Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) correction generation and compared Global Positioning System (GPS) and BeiDou System (BDS). Signal Quality Monitoring (SQM), Data QM, and Measurement QM (MQM) that are well known in Ground Based Augmentation System (GBAS) were used for quality monitoring. SQM and Carrier Acceleration Ramp Step Test (CARST) of MQM result were divided by satellite elevation angle and analyzed. The data which are judged as abnormal are removed and presented as Root Mean Square (RMS), standard deviation, average, maximum, and minimum value.
We investigated the accuracy of surface air temperature prediction according to the selection of land-use data and initial meteorological data using the Weather Research and Forecasting model-v4.2.1. A numerical experiment was conducted at the Daegu Dyeing Industrial Complex. We initially used meteorological input data from GFS (Global forecast system)and GDAPS (Global data assimilation and prediction system). High-resolution input data were generated and used as input data for the weather model using the land cover data of the Ministry of Environment and the digital elevation model of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport. The experiment was conducted by classifying the terrestrial and topographic data (land cover data) and meteorological data applied to the model. For simulations using high-resolution terrestrial data(10 m), global data assimilation, and prediction system data(CASE 3), the calculated surface temperature was much closer to the automatic weather station observations than for simulations using low-resolution terrestrial data(900 m) and GFS(CASE 1).

In this research, algorithm and software for the medium frequency signal analysis of DGPS(Differential Global Positioning System) station were developed. Based on new MF(Medium Frequency) algorithm, the software of NDGPS(National DGPS) signal analysis was developed for coverage analysis. Predicted MF propagation data from this software was compared to the measurement data for the verification of a developed MF algorithm. GIS(Geographic Information System) techniques including digital map with elevation data were used because MF propagation is closely related to ground conductivity, mountains, building intensity.
The Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) obtained elevation data on a near-global scale to generate the most complete high-resolution digital topographic database of Earth. SRTM consisted of a specially modified radar system that flew onboard the Space shuttle SRTM consisted of a specially modified radar system that flew onboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour during an 11-day mission on February 2000. Since 2004, in a GLCF (Global Land Cover Facility, http;//glcf.umiacs.umd.edu/) web-site, products of SRTM including 1Km and 90m resolutions for outside US and a 30m resolution for the US have been provided. This study is to assess the accuracy of SRTM-DEM in comparing with NGIS-DEM generated from NGIS digital topographic map(1:25,000) in Guem river watershed. For the Geum river watershed, SREM-DEM elevation ranged from 0 to 1,605m and NGIS-DEM ranged from 6 to 1,610m, and the average elevation of SRTM-DEM was 226.7m and 218.9m for NGIS-DEM, respectively. NGIS-DEM was subtracted from SRTM in three zones -Zone I (0~100m), Zone II (100~400m), Zone III (over 400m)- to estimate difference between SRTM and NGIS-DEM. As the results, the differences of these DEM were 5.2m (11.6%) in Zone I, 8.8m (3.8%) in Zone II, 12.5m (2.1%) in Zone III. Although there were differences between SRTM-DEM and NGIS-DEM, SREM-DEM would be possible to be utilized as DEM data for the region where DEM is not prepared.
Recently, increasing demand for 'Digital Elevation Model(DEM)' to climate change research and various development by global warming in the Arctic region. So we need to verify the accuracy to utilize DEM. In this research, we verified 'ASTER GDEM' and 'GIMP DEM' in several DEM which constructed in the Greenland that most of the area is covered ice sheet. We divided greenland into two part, ice sheet area and non ice sheet area by using the ESA globcover. Then, comparing a difference between 'ASTER DEM', 'GIMP DEM' and ICESat elevation data to verify the accuracy. As a result, GIMP DEM has higher accuracy in ice sheet area and ASTER GDEM has higher accuracy in non-ice sheet area.
