  • In this paper, the optimum design of the glass net shape was studied to minimize the electric field of mold transformer. The glass net is used for reinforcement in structure between coils and epoxy, but it can cause to increase the electric field and the partial discharge. Therefore, the optimum design of glass net is required to minimize the electric field. In this paper, the objective function was approximated by using response surface method and then Zoom-in method was used for optimal design to minimize the electric field. The electric field was analysed using finite element method for each shape of glass nets.

  • The sintering behavior of silver-oxide glass composite thick-film has been studied with varing glass content. It is shown that during heat treatment glass became liquid phase to deeply affect the microstructure development of the silver particles and to control the physical properties of the thick-films. As glass content increased, the initial repacking of silver particles took place rapidly but the homogeneities of the microstructure showed different features. When the glass content was over some range, the silver particles exuded glass to decrease net energy and glass formed liquid pools separated from the solid skeletons. Finally the relations between the microstructures and electrical properties of the thick-film were discussed.

  • We propose in the present work how the reference glass dosimeters can be introduced, which reflects the user irradiation condition. The reference glass dosimeters are used for correcting the reader fluctuation by reading it with sample glass dosimeters at the same time. Since they can be used without annealing after irradiation for long periods, one should consider both the fading effect and the natural background dose accumulation quantitatively. We construct an empirical but practical formalism of evaluating the absorbed dose on the glass dosimeter with the fading effect and the natural background dose accumulation considered.

  • Exposed concrete execution is utilized insufficiently due to surface honecomb and undesirable appearance by entrapped air when existing placing method is applied. Therefore, surface glossing and impact properties of cement mortar incorporating fiber glass net blast furnace slag, expansive admixture and Polypropylene fiber are investigated in order to develop precast exposed concrete pannel by dry construction method. The kinds of the forms, placing method and admixture contents are varied. According to test results, surface glossing decrease with elapse of age. Considering the form kinds, surface glossing with acryle + astage shows the best performance. Placing horizontally shows positive results in reducing surface defects such as honecomb. Impacting resistance shows the best performance when glass fiber net applied, due to the enhance in toughness and absorption of impact.

  • An erbium-ytterbium co-doped phosphate glass waveguide amplifier, fabricated by two-step ion-exchange, is presented. The performance of the amplifiers are investigated in viewpoints of net gain, pump power, and noise figure. The waveguide has propagation loss of 0.7 dB/cm Including insertion loss at 1.304 $\mu\textrm{m}$. At a signal wavelength of 1.534 $\mu\textrm{m}$, a high net gain of 12.8 dB and low noise figure of less than 3.9 dB are archived in a 4 cm long waveguide when injected by 140 ㎽ of LD pump at 0.98$\mu\textrm{m}$ in single pass configuration.

  • Objectives: This study aimed to measure the water sorption / solubility of Biodentine, composite resin and glass ionomer cement. Materials and Methods: The materials used in this study were Biodentine(BD), Filtek Z250(FZ) and Ketac Molar(KM). Twenty disc-shaped specimens of each material were prepared of 6mm diameter and 1mm thickness. All specimens were desiccated for 24 hours and weighed(m1). After then, They were immersed in distilled water and stored at $37^{\circ}C$. 1 week later, They were washed with running water, wiped with absorbent paper and weighed(m2). Finally, They were dried for 24 hours and weighed(m3). Water sorption and solubility, net water uptake were calculated. Results: KM and BD showed high water sorption than FZ(P<0.05). KM and BD exhibited similar water sorption(P<0.05). BD exhibited high solubility than KM(P=0.012). BD exhibited high net water uptake than FZ(P=0.008). Conclusion: Biodentine showed higher water sorption, solubility and net water uptake than Filtek Z250 and Ketac Molar. Within limitation of this study, it is not recommended to use Biodentine for permanent restoration.

  • Powder injection molding (PIM), which combines the advantages of powder metallurgy and plastic injection molding technologies, has become one of the most efficient methods for the net-shape production of both metal and ceramic components. In this work, plasma display panel glass bodies are prepared by the PIM process. After sintering, the hot isostatic pressing (HIP) process is adopted for improving the density and mechanical properties of the PIMed glass bodies. The mechanical and thermal behaviors of the prepared specimens are analyzed through bending tests and dilatometric analysis, respectively. After HIPing, the flexural strength of the prepared glass body reaches up to 92.17 MPa, which is 1.273 and 2.178 times that of the fused glass body and PIMed bodies, respectively. Moreover, a thermal expansion coefficient of $7.816{\times}10^{-6}/^{\circ}C$ is obtained, which coincides with that of the raw glass powder ($7.5-8.0{\times}10^{-6}/^{\circ}C$), indicating that the glass body is fully densified after the HIP process.

  • In this paper, we propose an automated method for the ground-glass nodule(GGN) classification using GGN-Net based on intensity, texture, and shape-enhanced images in chest CT images. First, we propose the utilization of image that enhances the intensity, texture, and shape information so that the input image includes the presence and size information of the solid component in GGN. Second, we propose GGN-Net which integrates and trains feature maps obtained from various input images through multiple convolution modules on the internal network. To evaluate the classification accuracy of the proposed method, we used 90 pure GGNs, 38 part-solid GGNs less than 5mm with solid component, and 23 part-solid GGNs larger than 5mm with solid component. To evaluate the effect of input image, various input image set is composed and classification results were compared. The results showed that the proposed method using the composition of intensity, texture and shape-enhanced images showed the best result with 82.75% accuracy.

  • Oxyapatite[Ca2Nd8(SiO4)6O2] glass-ceramics have been suggested as wasteforms for the immobilisation of rare-earth radioactive nuclides because of their high waste-loading capability and good chemical durability. In particular, a partitioning effect is predicted to contribute to an enhancement of corrosion resistance in glass-ceramics compared with that of conjugate glasses of the same composition. Because rare-earths are inherently insoluble nuclides, detection of changes in corrosion behavior between glass-ceramics and conjugate glasses under normal conditions is not easy. In this study, therefore, we revealed the partitioning effect by exposing glass-ceramics and glasses to solution of pH 2, 7 and 10 at 90 ℃ for 20 d. In addition, we proposed the corrosion mechanism for oxyapatite glass-ceramics under various corrosion conditions. Especially, the glassy phase dissolved first, followed by the oxyapatite phase during pH 7 corrosion.

  • In this study, we propose an alternative approach using Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) for determining Mass Attenuation Coefficients (MAC) in various glass systems. This method takes into account the weights of glass compositions, density, and photon energy as input features. The ANN model was trained and tested on a dataset consisting of 650 data points and subsequently validated through a K-fold cross-validation procedure. Our findings demonstrate a high level of accuracy, with R2 values ranging from 0.90 to 0.99. Additionally, the model exhibits robust extrapolation capabilities with an R2 score of 0.87 for predicting MAC values in a new glass system. Furthermore, this approach significantly reduces the need for costly and time-consuming computations and experiments, making it a potential tool for selecting materials for effective radiation protection.
