This study, compared with data of PbO-base glass system is a part of new glass composition design with Bi-base composition for PDP Rib. As $Bi_2O_3-B_2O_3-ZnO$ glass composition including Bi, which have similar density value and work facility to PbO, properties of softening point, thermal expansion coefficient, chemical durability, dielectric constant, and structural changing by XPS were investigated. $Bi_2O_3-B_2O_3-ZnO$ glass system, added 50∼80 wt% $Bi_2O_3$ widely, were presented 400∼480$^{\circ}C$ softening temperature, $68{\sim}72{\times}10^{-7}/^{\circ}C$ thermal expansion coefficient and 13∼25 dielectric constant. These results were showed similar physical properties with Pb-base glass system of same composition content, application possibility as starting composition of rib material was identified through micro-control of components and physical properties. The bonding energy of $O_{1s}$ as the $Bi_2O_3$ content decreasing was increased and full width at half-maximum (FWHM) was decreased, which is caused by non-bridging oxygen increasing.

This study was carried out to get the optimum conditions for manufacturing high refractive glass beads from waste fluorescent lamp glass. Chemical composition, X-ray diffraction pattern, particle size distribution, refractive index of glass beads, and the effect of air mixing ratio and ejection rate were investigated. The obtained results are as follows. The X-ray diffraction pattern and chemical composition of glass beads made of waste fluorescent glass are similar to common glass except ReO2 0.0108 wt%, BaO 0.071 wt%, NiO 0.0039 wt% and CaO 7.8 wt% but 11.7 wt% of common glass. The glass beads made of waste fluorescent lamp glass have the narrower particle size distribution of and the higher refractive index than the glass beads made of common glass. The optimal conditions of kiln operation for manufacturing glass beads from waste fluorescent lamp glass are 20 m/sec of ejection rate, 1.7 of air mixing ratio, and 940℃ of temperature.

The dependence of electrical characteristics of RuO$_2$-based thick film resistors on the RuO$_2$ contents, glass composition variation and the firing temperatures was measured. The sheet resistance of resistors decreased as the contents of RuO$_2$ increased and at firing temperatures higher than C, the sheet resistance increased as the firing temperature increased. In case of using lead borosilicate glass-containing $Bi_{2}O_{3}$, the sheet resistance decreased as the contents of $Bi_{2}O_{3}$ increased. TCR changes from negative to positive values as RuO$_2$ contents increased and from positive to negative values as the firing temperature increased. TCR increased to positive values as $Bi_{2}O_{3}$ increased in the glass.
Glass systems based on Ca, Sr, Ba, and Zn modified alumino-boro silicates were investigated in order to improve the dielectric and mechanical properties of a typical LTCC (low temperature co-fired ceramic) which was developed for high frequency highly-integrated modules. The glass was prepared by a typical melting procedure and then mixed with cordierite fillers to fabricate glass/ceramic composite-type LTCC materials. The amount of cordierite filler was fixed at 50 volumetric%. For an optimal glass composition of 7.5% CaO, 7.5% BaO, 5% ZnO, 10% $Al_2O_3$, 30% $B_2O_3$, and 40% $SiO_2$ in mole ratio, the resultant LTCC composite showed a dielectric constant of 5.8 and a dielectric loss ($tan{\delta}$) of 0.0009 after firing at $900^{\circ}C$. An average bending strength of 160MPa was obtained for the optimal composition.
The effect of firing temperature, soaking time and batch composition upon the glass phase and pore formation as well as their distribution in slag foamed glass was investigated.
Sulfur dioxide gas produced by the oxidation and reduction of metal sulfide in waterslag was attributed to foam forming agent.
Slag foamed glass matrix was mainly composed of 35~60% glas phase and melilite crystalline phase. The increment of bentonite addition in batch lowered the foam forming temperature in studied system. The result showed also that the foam size distribution was broadened as th firing temperature wa inbereased.

To improve warpage, delamination and the chemical reaction between 2 different co-fired materials, the bonding behavior with common glass was studied. As shown in the previous paper, the phenomenon of the infiltration is different with the composition of the glass. In particular, in the case of low temperature melting glass, infiltration is experimented in this study. GA-1 glass is infiltrated among $BaTiO_3$ particles below $800^{\circ}C$ and is made by glass/ceramic composite. Until the laminate is fired under $850^{\circ}C$, provskite phase is observed. Although in the case of GA-12 glass, the temperature of the glass infiltration is lower than it of GA-l glass, the perovskite phase already disappears at $800^{\circ}C$. As a result, GA-1 and GA-12 glasses are infiltrated among particles at low temperature, however, the chemical reactivity of the glass/ceramic and sintering temperature should be considered.
As the fundamental research of preparation of fine single crystalline ferroxplana by means of glass-crystallization methods using steel twin-roller the properties of ferroxplana extracted from cyrstallized glass were studied. Most of all the specimens quenched by twin-roller at about 1350$^{\circ}C$ were glass phase, the crystallization of these glass had multi-steps and ferroxplana phase was only stable untill 900$^{\circ}C$, began to be decomposed from about 950$^{\circ}C$ in glass. The morphology of particle could be controlled by the composition and crystallization condition, and Zn2+ was replaced by reduced Fe2+ which is 2∼3% contents of total Fe. Ferroxplana extracted had such magnetic properties as Ms=34 emu/g, mHc=10 Oe and Curie Temperature, Tc=425K.
At the previous papers, we showed that K2O-CaO-P2O5 glasses had a solubility in air so that they could be used for glass fertilizer. In this work, we fabricated the Eco-glass fertilizer containing trace elements such as B, Mg, Zn, Fe, Cu, Co, and Mo by a melt-quenching process and the dissolution properties of these glasses were investigated with pH meter and ICP analyzer. In case of the glasses containing the trace elements, effect of trace elements on the dissolutions is not obvious and ignorant the stability of mother glass. Also, the dissolution amounts of each trace elements depend on the mother glass composition and the quantity of each trace element, and mother glasses determined the dissolving velocity of chemical elements.
A convergence research was conducted on glass beads excavated at the ruins of Hapgang-ri, Sejong, using the archeology and conservation approach. The period of appearance of Jugu Towangmyo in the ruins of Hapgang-ri can be estimated to begin in the late 2nd century; for Jugu Towangmyo No. 15, the period spans from the late 2nd to early 3rd century. Form, color, and manufacturing techniques of complete glass beads were examined, and the cross-sections and chemical composition of 16 samples were observed. Based on these analyses, the glass beads were divided into blue, purple, and red colors. The blue-colored beads could be further sub-divided based on their gloss and brightness; in contrast, the red-colored beads were highly uniform with regard to these parameters. Based on the stripe and bubble arrangement on the surface of the glass beads, their drawing technique was identified. Traces of heat treatment or polishing were observed at the ends of the beads. According to their chemical composition, the 16 samples were classified into 3 potash glass and 13 soda glass groups; in the latter, the properties of the stabilizers were divided according to the blue and red bead colors. The stabilizers of the red beads are unique in that they allow the distinction among beads excavated in other areas in South Korea owing to their compositional differences. Colorants in blue- and red-colored beads are cobalt (containing MnO), and copper and iron, respectively.

The objective of this study is to prepare lead-free thick film resistor (TFR) paste compatible with AlN substrate for hybrid microelectronics. For this purpose, CaO-ZnO-$B_2O_3-Al_2O_3-SiO_2$ glass system was chosen as a sintering aid of $RuO_2$. The effects of the weight ratio of CaO to ZnO in glass composition, the glass content and the sintering temperature on the electrical properties of TFR were investigated. $RuO_2$ as a conductive and glass powder were dispersed in an organic binder to obtain printable paste and then thick-film was formed by screen printing, followed by sintering at the range between $750^{\circ}C$ and $900^{\circ}C$ for 10 min with a heating rate of $50^{\circ}C$/min in an ambient atmosphere. The addition of ZnO to glass composition and sintering at higher temperature resulted in increasing sheet resistance and decreasing temperature coefficient of resistance. Using $RuO_2$-based resistor paste containing 40 wt%glass of CaO-20.5%ZnO-25%$B_2O_3$-7%$Al_2O_3$-15%$SiO_2$ composition, it is possible to produce thick film resistor on AlN substrate with sheet resistance of $10.6\Omega/\spuare$ and the temperature coefficient of resistance of 702ppm/$^{\circ}C$ after sintering at $850^{\circ}C$.
