This paper considers Bayesian approach to modeling a flexible regression function under functional measurement error model. The regression function is modeled based on semiparametric regression with penalized splines. Model fitting and parameter estimation are carried out in a hierarchical Bayesian framework using Markov chain Monte Carlo methodology. Their performances are compared with those of the estimators under functional measurement error model without semiparametric component.

Bayesian approach using nonhomogeneous Poisson process is considered for modelling software reliability problem. The usefulness of the iterative sampling-based method increases greatly as the dimension of a problem increases. Maximum likelihood estimator and Gibbs estimator are derived. Model selection based on a predictive likelihood is studied. A numerical example is given.

We introduce a MCMC sampling for a generalized linear normal random effects model with the ordered probit link function based on latent variables from suitable truncated normal distribution. Such models have proven useful in practice and we have observed numerically reasonable results in the estimation of fixed effects when the random effect term is provided. Applications that utilize Korean Welfare Panel Study data can be difficult to model; subsequently, we find that an ordered probit model with the random effects leads to an improved analyses with more accurate and precise inferences.

Generalized linear models have various applications for data arising from many kinds of statistical studies. Although the response variable is generally assumed to be generated from a wide class of probability distributions we focus on count data that are most often analyzed using binomial models for proportions or poisson models for rates. The methods and results presented here also apply to many other categorical data models in general due to the relationship between multinomial and poisson sampling. The novelty of the approach suggested here is that all conditional distribution s can be specified directly so that staraightforward Gibbs sampling is possible. The prior distribution consists of two stages. We rely on a normal nonconjugate prior at the first stage and a vague prior for hyperparameters at the second stage. The methods are demonstrated with an illustrative example using data collected by Rosenkranz and raftery(1994) concerning the number of hospital admissions due to back pain in Washington state.
This study presents a practical procedure for the Bayesian inversion of geophysical data by Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) sampling and geostatistics. We have applied geostatistical techniques for the acquisition of prior model information, and then the MCMC method was adopted to infer the characteristics of the marginal distributions of model parameters. For the Bayesian inversion of dipole-dipole array resistivity data, we have used the indicator kriging and simulation techniques to generate cumulative density functions from Schlumberger array resistivity data and well logging data, and obtained prior information by cokriging and simulations from covariogram models. The indicator approach makes it possible to incorporate non-parametric information into the probabilistic density function. We have also adopted the MCMC approach, based on Gibbs sampling, to examine the characteristics of a posteriori probability density function and the marginal distribution of each parameter. This approach provides an effective way to treat Bayesian inversion of geophysical data and reduce the non-uniqueness by incorporating various prior information.
Since collaborative filtering has used the nearest-neighborhood method based on item preference it cannot only reflect exact contents but also has the problem of sparsity and scalability. The item-based collaborative filtering has been practically used improve these problems. However it still does not reflect attributes of the item. In this paper, we propose the method of associative group using the FP-Tree to solve the problem of existing recommendation system. The proposed makes frequent item and creates association rule by using FP-Tree without occurrence of candidate set. We made the efficient item group using $\alpha-cut$ according to the confidence of the association rule. To estimate the performance, the suggested method is compared with Gibbs Sampling, Expectation Maximization, and K-means in the MovieLens dataset.
Software reliability growth models are used in testing stages of software development to model the error content and time intervals between software failures. This paper presents a stochastic model for the software failure phenomenon based on a nonhomogeneous Poisson process(NHPP) and performs Bayesian inference using prior information. The failure process is analyzed to develop a suitable mean value function for the NHPP ; expressions are given for several performance measure. Actual software failure data are compared with several model on the constant reflecting the quality of testing. The performance measures and parametric inferences of the suggested models using Rayleigh distribution and Laplace distribution are discussed. The results of the suggested models are applied to real software failure data and compared with Goel model. Tools of parameter point inference and 95% credible intereval was used method of Gibbs sampling. In this paper, model selection using the sum of the squared errors was employed. The numerical example by NTDS data was illustrated.

This article addresses robust Bayesian modeling for meta analysis which derives general conclusion by combining independently performed individual studies. Specifically, we propose hierarchical Bayesian models with unknown variances for meta analysis under priors which are scale mixtures of normal, and thus have tail heavier than that of the normal. For the numerical analysis, we use the Gibbs sampler for calculating Bayesian estimators and illustrate the proposed methods using actual data.

In this article we attempted reliability analysis of a component under the stress-strength pattern with both classical as well as Bayesian techniques. The main focus is made to develop the theory for dealing the reliability problems in various circumstances for bivariate environmental set up in context of Bayesian paradigm. A stress-strength based model describes the life of a component which has strength (Y) and is subjected to stress(X). We develop the Bayes and moment estimators of reliability of a component for each of the three possible conditions, under the assumption that the two stresses (i.e. $X_1$ and $X_2$) on a component are dependent and follow a Bivariate exponential (BVE) of Marshall-Olkin distribution, the strength of a component (Y) following exponential distribution is independent of the stresses. The simulation study is performed with Markov Chain Monte Carlo technique via Gibbs sampler to obtain the estimates of Bayes estimators of reliability, are compared with moment estimators of reliabilities on the basis of absolute biases.
In this paper, we consider a seemingly unrelated regression (SUR) model and propose a nonparametric Bayesian approach to SUR with a Dirichlet process mixture of normals for modeling an unknown error distribution. Posterior distributions are derived based on the proposed model, and the posterior inference is performed via Markov chain Monte Carlo methods based on the collapsed Gibbs sampler of a Dirichlet process mixture model. We present a simulation study to assess the performance of the model. We also apply the model to precipitation data over South Korea.
