Intracranial pial arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) are rare vascular lesions of the brain. These lesions consist of one or more arterial connection to a single venous channel without true intervening nidus. A 24-year-old woman visited to our hospital because of headache, vomiting, dizziness and memory disturbance that persisted for three days. She complained several times of drop attack because of sudden weakness on both leg. Cerebral angiograms demonstrated a giant venous aneurysm on right frontal lobe beyond the genu of corpus callosum, multiple varices on both frontal lobes fed by azygos anterior cerebral artery, and markedly dilated draining vein into superior sagittal sinus, suggesting single channel pial AVF with multiple varices. Transarterial coil embolization of giant aneurysm and fistulous portion resulted in complete disappearance of pial AVF without complication.

거대세포종은 주로 대퇴골 원위단, 경골 근위단, 요골 원위단등 장관골의 골간단부를 침범하여 팽창되는 골붕해성 병변을 일으키며 또한 그 치료 방법에 대해서도 골소파, 골소파 및 골이식 절제, 방사선조사, 절단, 한냉수술등 아직 특별한 원칙이 없는 상태이다. 본 교실에서 는 19세 남자의 슬개골에 발생한 거대세포종에 대해서 골 소파술후 자가골 이식술을 시행하였으며 이 결과를 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다.

Giant cell tumor of the talus is an extremely rare condition and therapeutic options are ill defined. Recently we experienced a case of giant cell tumor of the talar body in a 20-year-old male treated by curettage and bone graft. There was no recurrence at 1year follow-up. A case report and review of the literature are presented.

Pure ventral midline giant schwannoma is an extremely rare entity. Spinal intradural extramedullary schwannomas commonly occur posterolateral or anterolateral to the spinal cord. A case of a pure midline ventrally situated giant pan cervical extramedullary schwannoma in an 18-year-old male patient with compressive myelopathy and sphincter involvement is presented. Spinal MR imaging showed a midline ventrally situated extramedullary tumor with severe spinal cord compression extending from clivus to C7 vertebra. It was resected through a posterolateral approach. Histology was consistent with a schwannoma. Post operative MR imaging showed no evidence of the tumor. The radiological features, pathogenesis and surgical strategies in management of these difficult tumors are discussed and the relevant literature is briefly reviewed.

Terfenol-D is one of several magnetostrictive materials with property of converting energy into mechanical motion, and vice versa. Magnetostriction is the property that causes certain ferromagnetic materials to change shape in a magnetic field. Terfenol-D is said to produce giant magnetostriction, strain greater than any other commercially available smart material. In this paper, fundamental characteristics analysis of giant magnetostrictive materials(Terfenol-D) has been investigated. The magnetic field analysis is carried out by using finite element method simulation ANSYS. The results show 223N in force and 9.5T in maximum magnetic flux density and 7.56 $10^6A/m$ in maximum magnetic field intensity 1A current. Through the analysis, basic data of Terfenol-D for the application of mechanical system are obtained.

We experienced a case of giant cell tumor arising from the right 2nd rib in the diagnostic and therapeutic thoracotomy at our department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Chungnam Univ. Hospital in May 3rd, 1991. The reports of this tumor are very rare and are known to have the incidence of 1 percent or less of all giant cell bone tumor. The tumor of the right 2nd rib, infant head-sized, covered with parietal pleura was invaded into the vertebra on operation finding. The tumor was resected partially[three fourths] and revealed to be the giant cell tumor on pathologic finding. At now, the patient is taking the radiotherapy to achieve the therapeutic goal to the remnant tumor.

This study was analyzed based on the core competencies that Small Giant enterprises to foster the goals of growth of SMEs mid-sized businesses rather than Global Small Giant enterprises of the business model for a causal relationship. As the result, the average age, sales and number of employees of Korean small giants were 20.6 years, 148.8 billion won and 312.1. This research investigated that Korean small giants were realizing the sustainable growth with the firm shares in the target markets, based on added values in groups and technical powers, although their average age is one third younger than global small giants. The further research needs to develop and select small giants more precisely and strictly. It is expected that small giants will be new growth engines to improve global competitiveness of Korea.

We experienced a case of giant arachnoid granulation misdiagnosed as dural sinus thrombosis. A 66-year-old woman presented with a one month history of progressive occipital headache. Computed tomography angiography and cerebral angiography showed a round filling defect at the transverse sinus which was speculated as a transverse sinus thrombosis. Anticoagulation therapy was performed to prevent worsening of thrombosis for 2 weeks and then a Gadolinium-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging scan was performed. The filling defect lesion at the transverse sinus revealed a non-enhancing granule with central linear enhancement, which was compatible with giant arachnoid granulation. We checked the intrasinus pressure difference across the lesion the through the dural sinus in order to exclude the lesion as the cause of headache. Normal venous pressure with no significant differential pressure across the lesion was noted. Headache was treated with medical therapy.

Giant cell tumor of bone is relatively common neoplasm usually involving epiphysis of long bone. And rarely it involves the diaphysis or metaphysis without epiphyseal extension. We report on an 18-year-old girl with giant cell tumor of ulnar diaphysis. She was treated with wide excision and reconstuction with nonvascularized autogenous fibular graft. We harvested fibular fragment preserving fibular continuity to reduce donor site morbidity. Surgical outcome and functional result was excellent.

거대 세포종은 서서히 자라는 일측성의 국소형 종물로서 수부에서 흔하고 고관절, 족지관절에서도 보고되나 슬관절내에서는 드물게 발생한다. 이에 저자들은 슬관절 관절강내에서 발생한 거대 세포종 1예를 관절경하에 제거한뒤 병리학적으로 확진하였으며 이를 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하고자 한다.
