Gestalt Group Meditation Therapy Effect on Occupational Stress and Anxiety in Working Women

  • The purpose of this research was to measure the effect of a gestalt group meditation therapy intervention program on occupational stress and anxiety in working women aged 30 to 49 in Korea. Scientific methods were employed to test a gestalt group meditation therapy intervention program as treatment for working women in 30-40s to reduce their level of occupational stress and anxiety. The study involved 18 volunteer subjects ages of 30 to 49 years, randomly divided into two groups: (1) gestalt group meditation therapy intervention program, and (2) no program. Both groups completed a pre-test and a post-test of occupational stress scale and trait anxiety inventory. The outcome data was analyzed as qual1litative information using the SPSSPC+ computer program. Mann-Whitney U test was used to analyze the result in order to verify the sameness between experienced group and controlled group of pre-test scores within the groups. Also U-test comparisons were used to analyze the treatment effects. The results of this investigation indicated that (1) occupational stress scores decrease after gestalt group meditation therapy intervention program on the treatment group, and (2) trait-anxiety scores decrease after gestalt group meditation therapy intervention program on the treatment group. In summary, the gestalt group meditation therapy intervention program for career women, aged 30 to 49, in Korea could reduce the subjects' occupational stress and anxiety.

  • Gestalt psychology is a theory of psychology to organize separate stimuli perceived by people's vision to incorporate them into significant types, and this also is applied in terms of the brand awareness of consumers. This study considered which influence the Gestalt psychology theories have upon the fashion consumers' information processing in fashion advertisement. The results are as follows. The principles of the totality and the perceptual organization in the Gestalt psychology are allowing fashion consumers to perceive information through advertisement and to be capable of understanding it a little more easily and clearly in the process. As for the principle of totality, an integrated Gestalt was formed by combining the stimulant elements of fashion ads and the brand schema of consumers. The principles of figure and background that were part of the perceptual organization theory enabled the consumers to pay attention to, choose and focus on some of the objects of perception in an easier and faster way. The principle of perceptual grouping was used to draw attention from the consumers by simplifying the objects of perception and then by combining them or making them look complete. Therefore the more advanced application of the principles and laws of Gestalt psychology is expected to make fashion consumers' way of looking at ads more well balanced and positive in a more efficient and convincing manner.

게쉬탈트 원리가 사용자 인터페이스의 지각된 사용가능성에 미치는 영향에 대한 탐색적 연구 (The Effects of Gestalt Principles on the Perceived Usability of User Interface in a Web Context)

  • The user interface (UI) is the part of the systems that users can see, hear and feel. That means, a user can interact with the systems through the user interface. Effective user interfaces create positive feelings of success and competence. In addition, they enable users to concentrate on their work, exploration, or pleasure. The German word "Gestalt" means "whole" as well as a figure or a shape. A comprehensive information systems (IS) literature review found that there has been little empirical evidence on the Gestalt principles in UIs that affect online users' perceived usability in a Web context. Therefore, the goals of this study are to 1) examine the relationships between Gestalt principles in UIs and online users' perceived usability in a Web context and 2) come up with design guidelines to enhance user success. Using a survey, this study explored the relationships between Gestalt principles used in six Web sites and 17 aspects of usability. The results showed that in terms of 16 aspects of usability, there are significant differences among the UIs that have different levels of Gestalt principles. In practice, online stores may use these findings to improve their Web pages. Specifically, the sixteen usability attributes can be used to check whether online stores' Web pages meet customers' user interface quality expectations.

  • 본 논문은 형태학 이론을 이용하여 이미지의 윤곽선을 추출하는 새로운 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 분할된 이미지를 형태학 기반의 근접성, 유사성, 연속성을 사용하여 객체들로 그룹화 한다. 즉, 이미지의 시각 계층에서 지각적 방법과 하향식 피드백을 이용하여 이질적인 시각적 형태들을 하나의 시각적 형태로 구체화 시킨다. 실험 결과 다른 방법에 비하여 좋은 성능을 보인다.

합성곱 신경망을 이용한 Bender Gestalt Test 영상인식 (Bender Gestalt Test Image Recognition with Convolutional Neural Network)

  • This paper proposes a method of utilizing convolutional neural network to classify the images of Bender Gestalt Test (BGT), which is a tool to understand and analyze a person's characteristic. The proposed network is composed of 29 layers including 18 convolutional layers and 2 fully connected layers, where the network is to be trained with augmented images. To verify the proposed method, 10 fold validation was adopted. In results, the proposed method classified the images into 9 classes with the mean f1 score of 97.05%, which is 13.71%p higher than a previous method. The analysis of the results shows the classification accuracy of the proposed method is stable over all the patterns as the worst f1 score among all the patterns was 92.11%.
