  • Exposure of testis to 2-BP is known to cause degeneration of male germ cells. However, the mechanism underlying this process is poorly understood. The objective of this study was to determine whether 2-BP induces apoptosis during onset of toxicity in germ cells of male Sprague-Dawley rats.(omitted)

  • Utilizatin of primordial germ cell(PGC) as transferor of genetic materials is great potential in manipulating genes to promote genetic performances in chicken. This study explored that PGCs from early embryos as vehicle for molecular breeding strategles were isolated, these chromosomally marked donor PGCs were transplanted to germinal crescent of host embryos, and genetic materials of donor PGC were identified at the proliferative stage in host gonads.

  • The genus Hypoxylon is a member of the Xylariaceae which has brown to dark brown and pha- seoliform single cell ascospores with a conspicuous full germ slit. The isolates of Hypoxylon collected from England, Hong Kong and Korea are compared with similar taxa and described. These isolations under Hypoxylon section are detailed and illustrated, using light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Hypoxylon howeianum and H. rubiginosum are described and compared with former collection from Korea. A key to the species is also included.

  • Germ-cell tumors (GCTs) are common in the central nervous system. GCTs are highly sensitive to radiotherapy and chemotherapy and can be cured without radical surgery. However, this tumor produces nonspecific imaging findings, and its rarity can make diagnosis challenging. Here we report a case in which the first diagnosis was uncertain and follow-up imaging revealed intramedullary germinoma. The patient underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy after the diagnosis.

  • The genus Biscogniauxia is a member of the Xylariaceae that has brown to dark brown and phaseoliform single cell ascospores with a conspicuous full germ slit. The isolates of Biscogniauxia collected from Mt. Nejang-san in Korea are compared with similar taxa and described. The isolation of B. nummularia var. merrillii is the first record with a precise description in Korea.
