With the ever growing demand of data applications, the joint macro-relay networks are emerging as a promising heterogeneous deployment to provide coverage extension and throughput enhancement. However, the current cellular networks are usually designed to be performance-oriented without enough considerations on the traffic variation, causing substantial energy waste. In this paper, we consider a joint macro-relay network with densely deployed relay stations (RSs), where the traffic load varies in both time and spatial domains. An energy-efficient scheme is proposed to dynamically adjust the RS working modes (active or sleeping) according to the traffic variations, which is called traffic-aware relay sleep control (TRSC). To evaluate the performance of TRSC,we establish an analytical model using stochastic geometry theory and derive explicit expressions of coverage probability, mean achievable rate and network energy efficiency (NEE). Simulation results demonstrate that the derived analytic results are reasonable and the proposed TRSC can significantly improve the NEE when the network traffic varies dynamically.

The processing paper has devoted to the theory of the flow equations, the basic derivative procedure, the meaning of a valve flow coefficient $C_v$, the valve Reynolds R$R_{ev}$ and its application for liquid control valves, which applicable under the condition of a non-critical flow and the case of piping geometry factor $F_p$=1.0. However there is no information on the effects of fittings, a critical flow and the flow resistance coefficient of a valve equivalent to that of pipe which is conveniently used in the piping design. Since the piping systems of plants or ships generally contain various fittings such as expanders and reducers due to different size between pipes and valves and there may occur a critical flow, that a mass flowrate is maintained to be constant, due to the pressure drop in a piping when a liquid is initially maintainder ar a saturated temperature or at nearby corresponding to upstream pressure, system designer should have a knowledge of the effect to flow due to fittings and the critical flow phenomenon of a liquid. This study is performed to inform system designers with the critical flow phenomenon of a liquid, a valve resistance coefficient, a valve geometry factor and their applications.

Polyurethane foams were produced by using a homogenizer as a mixing equipment. Effects of stirring speed on the foam structure were investigated with SEM observations. Variation of the bubble size, density of the foam, compressive strength, and thermal conductivity were studied. A hybrid foam consisting of polyurethane foam and commercial polystyrene foam is produced. Mechanical and thermal properties of the hybrid foam were compared with those of pure polyurethane foam. Advancement of flow front during mold filling was observed by using a digital camcorder. Four types of mold geometry were used for mold filling experiments. Flow during mold filling was analyzed by using a two-dimensional control volume finite element method. Variation of foam density with respect to time was experimentally measured. Creeping flow, uniform density, uniform conversion, and uniform temperature were assumed for the numerical simulation. It was assumed for the numerical analysis that the cavity has thin planar geometry and the viscosity is constant. The theoretical predictions were compared with the experimental results and showed good agreement.

The geoidal undulations are needed for determining the orthometric heights from the Global Positioning System GPS-derived ellipsoidal heights. There are several methods for geoidal undulation determination. The paper presents a method employing a simple architecture Two Layer Multiquadric-Biharmonic Artificial Neural Network (TLMB-ANN) to approximate an area of 4200 square kilometres quasigeoid surface with GPS-levelling data. Hardy’s Multiquadric-Biharmonic functions is used as the hidden layer neurons’ activation function and Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm is used to train the artificial neural network. In numerical examples five surfaces were compared: the gravimetric geometry hybrid quasigeoid, Support Vector Machine (SVM) model, Hybrid Fuzzy Neural Network (HFNN) model, Traditional Three Layer Artificial Neural Network (ANN) with tanh activation function and TLMB-ANN surface approximation. The effectiveness of TLMB-ANN surface approximation depends on the number of control points. If the number of well-distributed control points is sufficiently large, the results are similar with those obtained by gravity and geometry hybrid method. Importantly, TLMB-ANN surface approximation model possesses good extrapolation performance with high precision.

There are many parameters in prediction of forest fire spread. The variables such as fuel moisture, fuel loading, wind velocity, wind direction, relative humidity, slope, and solar aspect have important effects on fire. Particularly, wind and slope factors are considered to be the most important parameters in propagation of forest fire. Generally, slope effect cause different wind distribution in mountain area. However, this effect is disregarded in complex geometry. In this paper, wind is estimated by applying computational fluid dynamics to the forest geometry. Wind velocity data is obtained by using CFD code with Newtonian model and slope is calculated with geometrical data. These data are applied fer 2-dimentional forest fire spreading algorithm with Korean ROS(Rate Of Spread). Finally, the comparison between the simulation and the real forest fire is made. The algorithm spread of forest fire will help fire fighter to get the basic data far fire suppression and the prediction to behavior of forest fire.
The purpose of this paper is to present a new nonlinear feedback control called AACC (Augmented automatic choosing control) for nonlinear systems. Generally, it is easy to design the optimal control laws for linear systems, but it is not so for nonlinear systems, though they have been studied for many years. One of most popular and practical nonlinear control laws is synthesized by applying a linearization method by Taylor expansion truncated at the first order and the linear optimal control method. This is only effective in a small region around the steady state point or in almost linear systems. Controllers based on a change of coordinates in differential geometry are effective in wider...

The present paper proposes a sliding mode control with fixed switching frequency for three-phase three-leg voltage source inverter based four-wire shunt active power filter. The aim is to improve phase current waveform, neutral current mitigation, and reactive power compensation in electric power distribution system. The performed sliding mode for active filter current control is formulated using elementary differential geometry. The discrete control vector is deduced from the sliding surface accessibility using the Lyapunov stability. The problem of the switching frequency is addressed by considering hysteresis comparators for the switched signals generation. Through this method, a variable hysteresis band has been established as a function of the sliding mode equivalent control and a predefined switching frequency in order to keep this band constant. The proposed control has been verified with computer simulation which showed satisfactory results.
The flow in a parallel walled test channel, when obstructed with a geometry at the entrance, can be forward, reverse and stagnant depending on the position of the obstruction. This interesting flow phenomenon has potential benefit in the control of energy and various flows in the process industry In this experiment, the flat plate obstruction geometry was used as an obstruction at the entry of the test channel. The parameters that influence the flow inside and around the test channel were the gap (g) between the test channel and the obstruction geometry, the length (L) of the test channel and the Reynolds number (Re). The effect of the gap to channel width ratio (g/w) on the magnitude of the velocity ratio (V$\_$i/ / V$\_$o/ : velocity inside/ velocity outside the test channel) was investigated for a range of Reynolds numbers. The maximum reverse flow observed was nearly 20% to 60% of the outside velocity for Reynolds number ranging from 1000 to 9000 at g/w ratio of 1.5. The maximum forward velocity inside the test channel was found 80% of the outside velocity at higher g/w ratio of 8. The effect of the test channel length on the velocity ratio was investigated for different g/w ratios and a fixed Reynolds number of 4000. The influence of the Reynolds number on the velocity ratio is also discussed and presented for different gap to width ratio (g/w). The flow visualisation photographs showing fluid motion inside and around the test channel are also presented and discussed.

In this paper, a variational formulation for plane elasticity problems is derived based on an isogeometric approach. The isogeometric analysis is an emerging methodology such that the basis functions for response analysis are generated directly from NURBS (Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines) geometry. Furthermore, the solution space for the response analysis can be represented in terms of the same functions to represent the geometry, which enables to provide a precise construction method of finite element model to exactly represent geometry using B-spline base functions in CAD geometric modeling and analyze arbitrarily shaped structures without re-meshing. In this paper, a continuum-based adjoint sensitivity analysis method using the isogeometric approach is extensively derived for the plane elasticity problems. The conventional shape optimization using the finite element method has some difficulties in the parameterization of geometry In the isogeometric analysis, however, the geometric properties are already embedded in the B-spline basis functions and control points so that it has potential capability to overcome the aforementioned difficulties. Through some numerical examples, the developed isogeometric sensitivity analysis method is verified to show excellent agreement with finite difference sensitivity.
To increase the storage density in hologram recording, a simple scheme to obtain rotational, angular and spatial multiplexing efficiently at the same time is proposed and experimented. Both rotational multiplexing and angular multiplexing are obtained by controlling the reference beam directly by use of a pair of wedge prisms, while spatial multiplexing is obtained by shifting the recording medium in the recording plane. It is possible to get both an acute-angle geometry, in which the angle between the signal and reference beams is less than 90$^{\circ}$, and a 90$^{\circ}$ geometry, in which the angle is approximately 90$^{\circ}$. In experiment, 180 holograms were multiplexed with an acute-angle geometry where a photopolymer was used for the recording medium, and 147 holograms with 90$^{\circ}$ geometry where a Fe-doped LiNbO$_3$ crystal was used. The proposed scheme makes it easy it easy to realize a practical holographic memory system by simplifying the control of three complex mechanical motions that are necessary for the three multiplexing techniques.
