The present study investigates the employing of piezoelectric patches in active control of a sandwich plate. Indeed, the active control and optimal patch distribution on this structure are presented together. A sandwich plate with honeycomb core and composite reinforced by carbon nanotubes in facesheet layers is considered so that the optimum position of actuator/sensor patches pair is guaranteed to suppress the vibration of sandwich structures. The sandwich panel consists of a search space which is a square of 200 × 200 mm with a numerous number of candidates for the optimum position. Also, different dimension of square and rectangular plates to obtain the optimal placement of piezoelectric actuator/senor patches pair is considered. Based on genetic algorithm and LQR, the optimum position of patches and fitness function is determined, respectively. The present study reveals that the efficiency and performance of LQR control is affected by the optimal placement of the actuator/sensor patches pair to a large extent. It is also shown that an intelligent selection of the parent, repeated genes filtering, and 80% crossover and 20% mutation would increase the convergence of the algorithm. It is noted that a fitness function is achieved by collection actuator/sensor patches pair cost functions in the same position (controllability). It is worth mentioning that the study of the optimal location of actuator/sensor patches pair is carried out for different boundary conditions of a sandwich plate such as simply supported and clamped boundary conditions.

In this study, the load fluctuation of the main engine is considered to be a disturbance for the jacket coolant temperature control system of the low-speed two-stroke main diesel engine on the ships. A nonlinear PID temperature control system with satisfactory disturbance rejection performance was designed by rapidly transmitting the load change value to the controller for following the reference set value. The feed-forwarded load fluctuation is considered the set points of the dual loop control system to be changed. Real-coded genetic algorithms were used as an optimization tool to tune the gains for the nonlinear PID controller. ITAE was used as an evaluation function for optimization. For the evaluation function, the engine jacket coolant outlet temperature was considered. As a result of simulating the proposed cascade nonlinear PID control system, it was confirmed that the disturbance caused by the load fluctuation was eliminated with satisfactory performance and that the changed set value was followed.

In this paper, Genetic-Fuzzy Algorithm for Inverted Pendulum is presented. This Algorithms is combine Fuzzy logic with the Genetic Algorithm. The Fuzzy Logic Controller is only designed to two inputs and one output. After Fuzzy control rules are determined, Genetic Algorithm is applied to tune the membership functions of these rules. To measure of performance of the designed Genetic-Fuzzy controller, Computer simulation is applied to Inverted Pendulum system. In the simulation, In the case of f[0.3, 0.3] Fuzzy controller is measured that maximum undershoot is $-5.0 \times 10^{-2}[rad]$, maximum undershoot is $3.92\times10^{-2}[rad]$ individually however, Designed algorithm is zero. The Steady state time is approximated that Fuzzy controller is 2.12[sec] and designed algorithm is 1.32[sec]. The result of simulation, Resigned algorithm is showed it's efficient and effectiveness for Inverted Pendulum system.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of different feeding ratios of whole crop barley silage on the embryo production in Hanwoo donors. All donors were basically fed 2.5 kg concentrate daily. Donors were divided into three groups according to the different feeding of forage; hay 70% and rice straw 30% (control, n = 21), whole crop barley silage 80% and rice straw 20% (T1, n = 25), and whole crop barley silage 60% and rice straw 40% (T2, n = 23) fed based on TDN 6.70/ BW 500 kg. All Hanwoo donors received a CIDR together with injections of 1 mg estradiol benzoate and 50 mg progesterone ($P_4$, Day 0). Four days later, they were superovulated with 28 mg FSH twice daily IM in decreasing doses over 4 days. Then donors received 2 doses of $PGF_2{\alpha}$ (25 and 15 mg) with the 5th and 6th injections of FSH on Day 6. CIDR were withdrawn at the 6th FSH injection and the donors received $100\;{\mu}g$ GnRH 36 h after the second $PGF_2{\alpha}$ injection. The donors were artificially inseminated twice, at 8 and 24 h after GnRH, and embryos were recovered 7 or 8 days after the 1st insemination. The flush rate of the donors following positive superovulation responses did not differ among groups (76.2~96.0%, p>0.05). The number of corpus luteum (CL) at embryo recovery also did not differ among groups (10.6~14.0, p>0.05). Furthermore, the mean numbers of total ova (9.4, 10.5 and 12.0) and transferable embryos (5.3, 12.0 and 6.5) did not significantly differ among the control, T1 and T2 groups, respectively (p>0.05). However, mean concentrations of serum $P_4$ of the T1 (64.2 ng/ml) and T2 groups (55.7 ng/ml) were higher than that of control group (43.3 ng/ml, p<0.01), while serum cholesterol concentrations in the control (105.8 mg/dl) and T2 groups ($96.9\;{\pm}\;mg/dl$) were significantly lower than in the T1 group (121.1 mg/dl, p<0.05). Conclusively, whole crop barley silage can be fed a good substitute for hay forage for Hanwoo donors. Furthermore the ratios of whole crop barley silage 60% and rice straw 40% might be more worthful for embryo production.
The National Bio Resource Project-Rat (NBRP-Rat) comprises the largest bank of laboratory rat (Rattus norvegicus) strains in the world. Its main focus is to develop infrastructure that will facilitate the systematic collection, preservation, and provision of rat strains. To breed effectively more than 180 rat strains in living stock, we establish the genetic control system in which a systematic set of genetic diagnoses and genetic monitoring are included. Genetic monitoring is performed by using 20 polymorphic markers. Monitoring is carried out when a living animal stock is re-established by using cryopreserved embryos or sperm or when a rat strain is first introduced to the NBRP-Rat by a depositor. Additional monitoring is then carried out on each strain every two years. Genetic diagnosis is performed largely by employing the Amp-FTA method. Protocols which detail how to perform a genetic diagnosis of 11 transgenes and 24 mutations have been made. Among the mutations, nine can be detected by simple gel electrophoresis of the PCR products, 11 by restriction enzyme treatment of the PCR products, and four by direct PCR product sequencing. Using this genetic control system, the NBRP-Rat can guarantee the genetic quality of its rat strains.

This paper presents a design method of a robust tracking controller satisfying multiple constraints using genetic algorithm. A robust $H_{\infty}$ constraint with loop shaping is used to address disturbance attenuation with error limits and a loop gain constraint is considered so as not to enlarge the tracking loop gain and bandwidth unnecessarily. The robust $H_{\infty}$ constraint is expressed by a matrix inequality and the loop gain constraint is considered as an objective function so that genetic algorithm can be applied. Finally, a robust tracking controller can be obtained by integrating genetic algorithm with LMI approach. The proposed tracking controller design method is applied to the track-following system of an optical DVD recording drive and is evaluated through the experimental results.

It is important to determine supporting locations for structural stability of a structure under non-uniform load in space interfered by other parts. In this case, There are many local optima with discontinuous design space. Therefore, The traditional optimization methods based on derivative are not suitable. Whereas, Genetic algorithm(GA) based on stochastic search technique is a very robust and general method. This paper has been presented to determine supporting locations of the vertical supports for reducing stress of the KSTAR(Korea super Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research) IVCC(In-vessel control coil) under non-uniform electromagnetic load and space interfered by other parts using genetic algorithm. For this study, we develop a program combining finite element analysis with a genetic algorithm to perform structural analysis of IVCC. In addition, this paper presents a technique to perform optimization with FEM when design variables are trapped in an incongruent design space.
This study uses the mitochondrial DNA control region to identify the genetic diversity and population structure of the marbled soles (Pleuronectes yokohamae) that inhabit Jinhae Bay and Yokji Island in the nearby sea and the adjacent waters of Namhae, Hansan Island, and Jaran Bay. Direct sequencing of the PCR products revealed 379 bp sequences with 83 variable nucleotide sites, defining a total of 91 haplotypes. The haplotype diversity was high, ranging from $0.917{\pm}0.031$ to $0.983{\pm}0.008$, and nucleotide diversity ranged from $0.015{\pm}0.008$ to $0.024{\pm}0.012$. In addition, 48 haplotypes (52.7%) were unique. Pairwise $F_{ST}$ values were very low, with the maximum value occurring between PYH (Hansan Island) and PJI (Jinhae Bay) ($F_{ST}$ = 0.011). Therefore, no significant genetic differentiation was evident between any pair of sampling localities.
The security threat posed by worms has steadily increased in recent years. This paper discusses the application of the optimal and sub-optimal Internet worm control via Pontryagin's maximum principle. To this end, a control variable representing the optimal treatment strategy for infectious hosts is introduced into the two-factor worm model. The numerical optimal control laws are implemented by the multiple shooting method and the sub-optimal solution is computed using genetic algorithms. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed optimal and sub-optimal strategies. It also provides a theoretical interpretation of the practical experience that the maximum implementation of treatment in the early stage is critically important in controlling outbreaks of Internet worms. Furthermore, our results show that the proposed sub-optimal control can lead to performance close to the optimal control, but with much simpler strategies for long periods of time in practical use.

The aim of this paper is to suggest a design method of the optimal multivariable $H_{\infty}$ control system using genetic algorithm (GA). This $H_{\infty}$ control system is designed by applying GA to the optimal determination of weighting functions and design parameter $\gamma$ that are given by Glover-Doyle algorithm which can design $H_{\infty}$ controller in the state space. The first method to do this is that the gains of weighting functions and $\gamma$ are optimized simultaneously by GA with tournament method. And the second method is that not only the gains and $\gamma$ but also the dynamics of weighting functions are optimized at the same time by eA with roulette-wheel method. The effectiveness of this $H_{\infty}$ control system is verified by computer simulation.
