In the process of crossbreeding, the linkage disequilibria between the quantitative trait loci (QTL) and their linked markers were reduced gradually with increasing generations. To study the potential of QTL mapping using the crossbred population, we presented a mixed effect model that treated the mean allelic value of the different founder populations as the fixed effect and the allelic deviation from the population mean as random effect. It was assumed that there were fifty QTLs having effect on the trait variation, the population mean and variance were divided to each QTL in founder generation in our model. Only the additive effect was considered in this model for simulation. Six schemes (S1-S6) of crossbreeding were studied. The selection index was used to evaluate the synthetic breeding value of two traits of the individual in the scheme of S2, S4 and S6, and the individuals with high selection index were chosen as the parents of the next generation. Random selection was used in the scheme of S1, S3 and S5. In this study, we premised a QTL explained 40% of the genetic variance was located in a region of 20 cM by the linkage analysis previously. The log likelihood ratio (log LR) was calculated to determine the presence of a QTL at the particular chromosomal position in each of the generations from the fourth to twentieth. The profiles of log LR and the number of the highest log LR located in the region of 5, 10 and 20 cM were compared between different generations and schemes. The profiles and the correct number reduced gradually with the generations increasing in the schemes of S2, S4 and S6, but both of them increased in the schemes of S1, S3 and S5. From the results, we concluded that the crossbreeding population undergoing random selection was suitable for improving the resolution of QTL mapping. Even experiencing index selection, there was still enough variation existing within the crossbred population before the fourteenth generation that could be used to refine the location of QTL in the chromosome region.

Nowadays a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) represents an aggregation of distributed energy resource such as Distributed Generation (DG), Combined Heat and Power generation (CHP), Energy Storage Systems (ESS) and load in order to operate as a single power plant by using Information and Communication Technologies, ICT. The VPP has been developed and verified based on a single virtual plant platform which is connected with a number of various distributed energy resources. As the VPP's distributed energy resources increase, so does the number of data from distributed energy. Moreover, it is obviously inefficient in the aspects of technique and cost that a virtual plant platform operates in a centralized manner over widespread region. In this paper the concept of the large-scale VPP which can reduce a error probability of system's load and increase the robustness of data exchange among distributed energy resources will be proposed. In addition, it can directly control and supervise energy resource by making small size's virtual platform which can make a optimal resource scheduling to consider of variable and sensitive load in the large-scale VPP. It makes certain the result is verified by simulation.

21-hydroxylase deficiency (21-OHD), most common form of congenial adrenal hyperplasia, is categorized into classical forms, including the salt-wasting (SW) and the simple virilizing (SV) types, and nonclassical (NC) forms based on the severity of the disease. Newborn screening for 21-OHD has been performed in Korea since 2006. $17{\alpha}$-hydroxyprogesterone (17-OHP) is a marker for 21-OHD and is measured using a radioimmunoassay or a fluoroimmunoassay. Premature and low birth weight infants are likely to give false positive 17-OHP findings, therefore, cutoff values for these infants should be determined based on gestational weeks or birth weight. ACTH simulation test is helpful when the 17-OHP shows equivocal increase, and it is gold standard for diagnosis of NC type. Recently, liquid chromatography linked with tandem mass spectrometry was developed for rapid, highly specific, and sensitive analysis of multiple analytes. Molecular analysis of CYP21A2 is useful for confirming diagnosis of mild SV or NC type, predicting prognoses, and genetic counseling. In order to make newborn screening for 21-OHD more efficient, early detection of boy with SW type, early determination of girl with ambiguous genitalia, detection of NC type, and overcoming of false positive in premature and low birth weight infants should be considered. Above all, early treatment should be started when the patient is suspected as having 21- OHD clinically before confirming the diagnosis to prevent adrenal crisis. Here, author reviewed recent articles of guideline and proposed guideline for 21-OHD.
Genetic variance and covariance components of the linear traits and the ordered categorical traits, that are usually observed as dichotomous or polychotomous outcomes, were simultaneously estimated in a multivariate threshold animal model with concepts of arbitrary underlying liability scales with Bayesian inference via Gibbs sampling algorithms. A multivariate threshold animal model in this study can be allowed in any combination of missing traits with assuming correlation among the traits considered. Gibbs sampling algorithms as a hierarchical Bayesian inference were used to get reliable point estimates to which marginal posterior means of parameters were assumed. Main point of this study is that the underlying values for the observations on the categorical traits sampled at previous round of iteration and the observations on the continuous traits can be considered to sample the underlying values for categorical data and continuous data with missing at current cycle (see appendix). This study also showed that the underlying variables for missing categorical data should be generated with taking into account for the correlated traits to satisfy the fully conditional posterior distributions of parameters although some of papers (Wang et al., 1997; VanTassell et al., 1998) presented that only the residual effects of missing traits were generated in same situation. In present study, Gibbs samplers for making the fully Bayesian inferences for unknown parameters of interests are played rolls with methodologies to enable the any combinations of the linear and categorical traits with missing observations. Moreover, two kinds of constraints to guarantee identifiability for the arbitrary underlying variables are shown with keeping the fully conditional posterior distributions of those parameters. Numerical example for a threshold animal model included the maternal and permanent environmental effects on a multiple ordered categorical trait as calving ease, a binary trait as non-return rate, and the other normally distributed trait, birth weight, is provided with simulation study.
At an early stage of genomic investigations, a small sample of microarrays is used in gene expression experiments to identify small subsets of candidate genes for a further accurate investigation. Unlike the statistical analysis methods for a large sample of microarrays, an appropriate statistical method for identifying small subsets is a randomization test that provides exact P values. These exact P values from a randomization test for a small sample of microarrays are discrete. The possible existence of differentially expressed genes in the sample of a full set of genes can be tested for the null hypothesis of a uniform distribution. Subsets of smaller P values are of prime interest for a further accurate investigation and identifying these outlier cells from a multinomial distribution of P values is possible by M test of Fuchs et al. (1980). Above all, the genome-wide gene expressions in microarrays are correlated, but the majority of statistical analysis methods in the microarray analysis are based on an independence assumption of genes and ignore the possibly correlated expression levels. We investigated with simulation studies the effect that correlated gene expression levels could have on the randomization test results and M test results, and found that the effects are often not ignorable.

QUAL2K enhanced QUAL2E and applied in real fields efficiently incorporates denitrification process, sediment-water interaction process, bottom algae and detritus. Also, the CBOD of QUAL2K is divided into two real parts, one is slow CBOD(sCBOD) and another is fast CBOD(fCBOD). The simulation results of QUAL2E and QUAL2K models in Anyang Stream were compared and analyzed in water quality constituents of DO, BOD, Org-N, NH$_3$-N, NO$_3$-N, Org-P, Dis-P and Chl-a respectively. The similar results were shown in Org-N, NH$_3$-N, Org-P and Chl-a both QUAL2K and QUAL2E models. But the different results were revealed in DO, BOD, Dis-P and NO$_3$-N by the influence of new incorporating processes. DO was shown relatively low values in the effect of bottom algae. BOD which is influenced by particulate organic matter was revealed high values. NO$_3$-N was closed to the real values by the two processes of denitrification and sediment-water interaction. To evaluate the running results of QUAL2K and QUAL2E models, a simple statistical analysis was conducted. According to the statistical analysis, QUAL2K represented less relative error and coefficient of variation than QUAL2E in almost all of constituents. It was found that QUAL2K, which simulates the water quality more realistically, can be applied to control and manage the water problems of river or river-run reservoir effectively.

There are many tasks which require robotic manipulators interaction with environment. It consists of three control problems, i.e., position control, impact control and force control. The position control means the way of reaching to the environment. The moment of touching to the environment yields the impact control problem and the force control is to maintain the desired force trajectory after the impact with the environment. These three control problems occur in sequence, so each control algorithm can be developed independently. Especially for redundant manipulators, each of these three control problems has been important independent research topic. For example, joint torque minimization and impulse minimization are typical techniques for such control problems. The three control problems are considered as a single task in this paper. The position control strategy is developed to improve the performance of the task, i.e., minimization of the individual joint torques and impulse. Therefore, initial conditions of the impact control problem are optimized at the previous position control algorithm. Such a control strategy yields improved result of the impact control. Similarly, the initial conditions for the force control problem are indirectly optimized by the previous position control and impact control strategies. The force control algorithm uses the individual joint torque minimization concept. It also minimizes the force disturbances. The simulation results show the proposed control strategy works well.

Our understanding of the sensitivities of crop responses to changes in carbon dioxide, temperature, and water is limited, which makes it difficult to fully utilize crop models in assessing the impact of climate change on future agricultural production. Genetic coefficients of CERES-Barley model for major domestic cultivars in South Korea (Olbori at Suwon, Albori at Milyang, Saessalbori at Iksan, and Samdobori at Jinju) were estimated from the observed data for daily weather and field trials for more than 10 years by using GenCalc in DSSAT. Data from 1997-2002 annual crop status report (Rural Development Administration, RDA) were used to validate the crop coefficients. The sitecalibrated CERES-Barley model was used to perform crop growth simulation with the 99 treatments of step change combinations in temperature, precipitation and carbon dioxide concentration with respect to the baseline climate (1981-2010) at four sites. The upper boundary corresponds to the 2071-2100 climate outlook from the RCP 8.5 scenario. The response surface of grain yield showed a distinct pattern of model behavior under the combined change in environmental variables. The simulated grain yield was most sensitive to $CO_2$ concentration, least sensitive to precipitation, and showing a variable response to temperature depending on cultivar. The emulated impacts of response surfaces are expected to facilitate assessment of projected climate impacts on a given cultivar in South Korea.

Objectives: Lawsone (1,4 naphthoquinone) is a non redox cycling compound that can be catalyzed by DT diaphorase (DTD) into 1,2,4-trihydroxynaphthalene (THN), which can generate reactive oxygen species by auto oxidation. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the toxicity of the phytomarker 1,4 naphthoquinone and its metabolite THN by using the molecular docking program AutoDock 4. Methods: The 3D structure of ligands such as hydrogen peroxide ($H_2O_2$), nitric oxide synthase (NOS), catalase (CAT), glutathione (GSH), glutathione reductase (GR), glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PDH) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate hydrogen (NADPH) were drawn using hyperchem drawing tools and minimizing the energy of all pdb files with the help of hyperchem by $MM^+$ followed by a semi-empirical (PM3) method. The docking process was studied with ligand molecules to identify suitable dockings at protein binding sites through annealing and genetic simulation algorithms. The program auto dock tools (ADT) was released as an extension suite to the python molecular viewer used to prepare proteins and ligands. Grids centered on active sites were obtained with spacings of $54{\times}55{\times}56$, and a grid spacing of 0.503 was calculated. Comparisons of Global and Local Search Methods in Drug Docking were adopted to determine parameters; a maximum number of 250,000 energy evaluations, a maximum number of generations of 27,000, and mutation and crossover rates of 0.02 and 0.8 were used. The number of docking runs was set to 10. Results: Lawsone and THN can be considered to efficiently bind with NOS, CAT, GSH, GR, G6PDH and NADPH, which has been confirmed through hydrogen bond affinity with the respective amino acids. Conclusion: Naphthoquinone derivatives of lawsone, which can be metabolized into THN by a catalyst DTD, were examined. Lawsone and THN were found to be identically potent molecules for their affinities for selected proteins.
A gas turbine engine plays an important role as a prime mover that is used in the marine transportation field as well as the space/aviation and power plant fields. However, it has a complicated structure and there is a time delay element in the combustion process. Therefore, an elaborate mathematical model needs to be developed to control a gas turbine engine. In this study, a modeling technique for a gas generator, a PLA actuator, and a metering valve, which are major components of a gas turbine engine, is explained. In addition, sub-models are obtained at several operating points in a steady state based on the trial running data of a gas turbine engine, and a method for controlling the engine speed is proposed by designing an NPID controller for each sub-model. The proposed NPID controller uses three kinds of gains that are implemented with a nonlinear function. The parameters of the NPID controller are tuned using real-coded genetic algorithms in terms of minimizing the objective function. The validity of the proposed method is examined by applying to a gas turbine engine and by conducting a simulation.
