University Students' Perceptual Lecture Evaluation of Online Lectures During the COVID-19 Situation

  • Students' perceptions of generosity and fairness in lecture evaluation and grades, communication with professors, and self-fidelity and satisfaction during the COVID-19 situation were statistically analyzed by surveying students at M university in Daejeon. These data were analyzed in the context of parameters that might impact online class lecture evaluations, namely gender and school year. Descriptive analysis shows students' perceptions of online lectures are significantly high. As for differences by gender and school year, the t-test results indicate female students generally have better perceptions of online classes than male students. However, there is no statistical difference between male and female students regarding the generosity of lecture evaluation. Also, ANOVA test results show that as the school year increases, the general perceptions for online classes become negative. However, there is no statistical difference by school year regarding the generosity of lecture evaluation. Regression analysis shows that the "perceptual generosity of grades" most significantly influenced the "perceptual generosity of lecture evaluation."

복지국가 재편의 경로의존성 : 공적연금 제도 구조와 급여관대성 및 지출수준에 관한 비교연구 (Pension Structure, Benefit Generosity and Pension Spending in the Retrenchment Period of Welfare States)

  • 이 연구는 복지국가 재편기에 공적연금의 급여 관대성과 지출의 변화추이 및 결정요인을 밝히고자 하였다. 특히 공적연금 제도에서의 경로의존성을 밝힌 방대한 질적 연구들의 심층적 논의를 계량적 비교국가연구의 흐름에 통합하여 공적연금제도의 변화에 영향을 미치는 중요한 요인으로서 공적연금제도의 구조(structure)에 주목하였다. 한편, 복지국가 발달을 설명했던 산업화 이론과 권력자원 이론이 복지국가 재편기 공적연금정책의 변화를 설명하는 데에도 유용한가를 검증하고자 하였다. 1980-2007년까지 서구 복지국가 13개국을 대상으로 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 공적연금제도의 구조에 따라 연금급여 관대성과 지출수준에 상이한 변화 추이가 확인되었다. 둘째, 결합시계열 회귀분석 결과, 연금구조는 제도 관대성과 지출에 영향을 미치는 가장 중요한 요인임이 밝혀졌다. 셋째, 고령화의 영향력은 연금급여 관대성을 통제한 상태에서도 유의미하게 나타나, 고령화가 연금지출을 증가시키는 요인으로 나타났다. 다만 신사회적 위험 정도가 높을수록 노인에 대한 현금지출 집중도는 낮아졌다. 넷째, 권력자원 이론은 재편기의 연금정책 국면에서는 설명력이 통계적으로 입증되지 않았다.

간호학사 과정 3학년 학생들의 노인과 치매노인에 대한 태도 (Attitudes Toward General Elders and Elders with Dementia Among Baccalaureate Junior Nursing Students)

  • Purpose: This study investigated attitudes toward general elders and elders with dementia among nursing students before beginning the clinical practicum. In addition, students' characteristics differentiating the attitudes were examined. Methods: Attitudes were measured with questionnaires developed for Asian culture at the beginning week of the first semester of the junior year in two baccalaureate programs. Responses from 120 out of 121 students were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient, paired t-test, ANOVA, and Scheffe test. Results: Students held negative attitudes toward both types of elders except for generosity dimension toward general elders showing a neutral attitude. Elders with dementia were evaluated more negatively than general elders in all the dimensions of vitality, generosity and flexibility. Vitality and generosity toward general elders were different according to intimacy and the degree of communication with elders. Generosity toward general elders was also different according to students' religious beliefs. Students with interest in elders/issues showed more negative attitudes of vitality and flexibility toward elders with dementia. Conclusions: Students in general had negative attitudes toward elders and more negative attitudes toward elders with dementia. We need to put more efforts into the entire nursing curriculum in order to improve attitudes toward elders with particular concern over attitudes toward elders with dementia.

노동시간이 삶 만족도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Working Hour on the Worker's Subjective Well-being)

  • 이 연구는 노동시간이 노동자의 삶 만족도에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 규명함으로써, 한국 장시간 노동체제가 가지는 의미의 일단을 규명하고자 한 것이다. 이 연구의 분석자료는 통계청의 2014년 생활시간조사자료이며, 노동시간 요인은 '하루 노동시간 길이'와 '주당 휴일 수준' 두가지이다. 먼저 노동시간이 삶 만족도에 미치는 영향을 검증하고, 이어서 돌봄을 필요로 하는 가족원이 있는지 여부에 따라 노동시간이 삶 만족도에 미치는 영향이 달라지는지 여부를 살펴보았다. 분석 결과, 통상 행복 수준에 영향을 미치는 소득, 교육, 고용형태, 성별 등의 요인들을 통제하는 경우에도 노동시간 길이가 길수록, 휴가 수준이 낮을수록 한국인의 삶 만족도는 저하된다. 그러나 돌봄을 요하는 가족원이 있는 경우 노동시간이 삶 만족도에 미치는 영향은 달라진다. 돌봄을 필요로 하는 가족원이 있는 경우, 노동시간 길이와 휴가 수준은 삶 만족도에 더 이상 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않으며, 성별이 삶 만족도에 미치는 영향력의 유의미성 역시 사라진다. 이는 돌봄을 요하는 가족원이 없는 경우에, 노동시간이 미치는 영향 및 여성이 남성보다 삶 만족도가 높은 것과 대조된다. 이는 한국 가족의 돌봄시간 성별 격차와 깊이 관련되어 있는 것으로 추정된다.

Effects of Gerontological Nursing Practicum on Attitudes toward Elders with Dementia and General Elders among Korean Nursing Students

  • Purpose. This study investigated changes in attitudes toward elders in general and elders with dementia after students finished a gerontological nursing practicum. Methods. Questionnaires developed for Asian cultures were administered pre practicum, immediately post practicum, and at 8-months follow up to 31 senior students in a baccalaureate nursing program. The 1-week practicum occurred at two adult day care centers: a center for elders with dementia and a center for elders with stroke. Repeated measures ANOVA and Bonferroni correction procedures were used to analyze data. Results. Students' evaluation of elder vitality and flexibility increased significantly at post practicum, however this increase was not sustained at follow up. Score of generosity of elders, the only positively evaluated dimension for elders in general, improved partly at post practicum. Students evaluated flexibility and generosity of elders with dementia more negatively than general elders. All of the decreased attitudes at follow up were not significantly different from those at pre practicum. Conclusions. Students had more negative attitudes toward elders with dementia. Attitudes of students in direct contact with elders with dementia were improved through the practicum regarding generosity and flexibility. However the sustainability of the immediate effect was not observed at follow up.

장기요양보호체계의 국가별 다양성 (Analysis on the Diversity of Long-Term Care Systems)

  • This research purposed to analyse the diversity of the long-term care system based on the dependency/independency of the aged. For this purpose, we divided the long-term care systems to three components; form of benefit, generosity of benefit and delivery system. Form of benefit is whether the benefit is cash or in-kind, and the generosity of benefit is related to the level and coverage of benefit. The last concerned to focus on provider and user selection. According to this, we tried to make an ideal type of long-term care in the perspective of citizenship and consumerism. As a result, we established four types of long-term care system; active citizen type, passive citizen type, latent citizen type, and family dependent type. And we investigated Austria, Sweden, Germany and Korea for each type empirically.

Attitudes toward the Elderly among Nursing Students in Korea

  • Purpose. The primary purpose of this study was to reexamine underlying dimensions of attitudes toward the elderly held by undergraduate nursing students. A secondary purpose was to investigate characteristics of nursing students associated with attitudes toward elders. Methods. A survey was performed using self-report questionnaire completed by nursing students from a total of 10 nursing schools or departments each selected randomly from one province of Korea. Students' responses (N=366) were analyzed using factor analysis, correlation coefficients, t-test, and ANOVA. Results. Three attitudinal dimensions explaining $35.29\%$ of the variance were extracted: vitality, generosity and flexibility. From a neutral point of 4.0 in the range of 1 to 7, only generosity (4.47) was evaluated positively, whereas vitality (3.31) and flexibility (2.91) were evaluated negatively. The mean scores of the vitality and generosity dimensions were significantly different by students' level of communication with the elderly, experience living with the elderly, and interest in elders or in issues related to elders. Interest in elders/elder issues was the only characteristic affecting significant mean score difference in flexibility. Conclusion. Educational process should increase students' exposure to healthy elderly to modify negative attitudes toward the elderly among nursing students.

황희(黃喜), 그 역사적 평가와 위상에 대한 일고찰(一考察) - 실록(實錄)의 사신평(史臣評)과 관련하여 - (A Study on Evaluation and Status of Hwang Hee in History - Focused on the evaluation from authors of chronicles)

  • 황희(黃喜: 1363~1452)는 조선 초기의 명재상으로 세종 시대의 찬란한 문화를 여는 데 지대한 공을 세웠다. 그는 종묘(宗廟)에 배향된 공신(功臣)이며 조선시대의 대표적 청백리(淸白吏)이다. 학문상의 공로를 인정하는 팔도유생들에 의해 문묘(文廟)에 배향을 청하는 상소가 두 차례나 있었다. 그에 대한 역사적 평가와 위상은 실로 남다른 바가 있다. 그러나 "세종실록" 등 조선왕조에서 펴낸 실록(實錄)에 따르면 황희에 대한 당대(當代)의 평가가 일률적이지는 않았다. 황희의 부정과 비리 등을 비판하는 내용이 실록에 다수 실려 있다. 모두 사실로 인정하기는 어려울 것이다. 단순히 의혹을 제기하는 수준의 내용이 있고, 고의적인 악평(惡評)에 가까운 내용도 있다. 다만, 사관(史官)이 양심에 따라 객관적으로 서술하려 한 것이기 때문에 일단 존중할 필요는 있다. 황희는 특유의 관대함[관(寬)]으로 높은 평가를 받았고 관료 사회에서 인심을 얻었다. 그러나 관대함이 지나쳐 집안을 다스리는[제가(齊家)] 데 문제가 있었다는 것이 사관의 평이다. 필자는 이 평이야말로 당시 일각에서 황희에 대해 제기한 비판의 근본 원인을 잘 설명해주는 것이라고 생각한다. "사람의 잘못에는 저마다의 유형이 있다. 잘못을 보면 그 사람의 인간됨을 알 수 있다"고 한 공자의 말에도 잘 들어맞는다고 하겠다.

The Effects of Institutions on the Labour Market Outcomes: Cross-country Analysis

  • This paper re-examines the impacts an institutional arrangement may have on labour market outcomes such as the employment and unemployment rates. Based on the results from a generalized econometric model, the generosity of unemployment insurance benefits, organized labour and active labour market policy have effects on a labour market in line with previous findings. However, taxes on labour and the degree of employment protection are found to affect neither the employment rate nor the unemployment rate. Thus, some findings in this paper validate earlier findings, whereas others do not.

An Alternative Approach in Analyzing the Impacts of Online Feedback System;A Bayesian Inference Model

  • Previous studies present the mixed results on online reputation mechanism. In this study, we have found that an approach based on Bayesian statistics can explain most results of previous studies which are conflicting with each others. With this model, we explain why negative ratings have more significant marginal impacts on sellers' reputation than positive ones do. Furthermore, we even show why the feedbacks with a few negative ratings may increase the value of the item and final prices by confirming buyers' prior beliefs on the sellers' reputation much more than those without negative ratings. Also, we explain why there are not many negative ratings. Even though some studies suggest this because of generosity of users, our model shows that the reason is that the existence of FS itself prevents bad sellers from participating to the market as a signal itself. Even further, we show how this extreme tendency of positive ratings gets even stronger as markets evolve. Finally, to validate our analytical results, we examine the previous studies and see what factors effect the outcomes of their analyses.
