In this study, the characteristics of emulsified fuel and engine emissions were studied with an engine dynamometer. In the results of physical property analysis, the margin of error of net calorific value and gross calorific value was ${\pm}0.5%$, were almost same theoretical calculation and results of physical property analysis test. In emulsified fuel, density and viscosity increased with increasing water contents. Emulsified fuel which is composed of water and Bunker-A was manufactured by using homogenizer and ultrasonic generator in $80^{\circ}C$. Phase separation did not take place in $20^{\circ}C$ and $50^{\circ}C$. In the results of engine dynamometer test, NOx concentration and smoke density were reduced with increasing water contents in using emulsified fuel. Total NOx could be reduced by about 41%, 10%, 32% and 28% at 1,000 rpm, 1,200 rpm, 1,500 rpm and 2,500 rpm respectively. Total smoke density was reduced to 42%, 65%, 70%, 62%, and 82% at 1,000 rpm, 1,200 rpm, 1,500 rpm, 2,000 rpm, and 2,500 rpm respectively.

The Purpose of this study was to evaluate by comparing the dose change and build up characteristic according to delay time in 30 days of glass dosimeter processed preheat and non preheat when measuring accumulation dose of radiation by using glass dosimeter over the long haul. For obtaining low dose with 0.1 mGy, 1 mGy and 5 mGy, we employed diagnostic generator AccuRay-650R. We compared the build up characteristic over the long haul by exposuring radiation to 30 glass dosimeters sorted into 10 glass dosimeters per tube voltage and current. In Non preheat glass dosimeter, initial measured dose was inferior to exposed dose but as time goes on, was close to exposed dose steadily. In 72 hour after experiment end, non preheat glass dosimeters were not indicated the difference from preheat glass dosimeters and statistical analysis were meaningful (p>0.05). Initial measured dose for low glass dosimeter processed preheat was close to exposed dose and stable. After 15 days dose was gradually increased. Previous study characteristics of glass dosimeter were with respect to characteristic of glass dosimeter in high dose of high energy area. However, in this study, we make a judgment to measure the dose of glass dosimeter without preheat processing when measuring the accumulation dose of low dose in conclusion.
Ultrasound has been widely used in various industrial fields. One of challenging application areas is cooling microelectronics. Ultrasonic cooling systems can work with air, argon (Ar) and nitrogen (N2) instead of conventional refrigerant such as freon gas, which can cause global warming. Furthermore, ultrasonic systems do not have moving parts, thus high durability can be obtained. So it is necessary to develop ultrasonic cooling systems due to environmental issues and durability points. In this paper, the design and fabrication processes are explained. When designing the system, a feasibility test was performed with a prototype cooler. Based on the result, finite element analysis with ANSYS software was performed. The predicted anti-resonance frequency for a piezoelectric actuator was 34.8 kHz, which was in good agreement with the experimental result of 34.6 kHz with 0.6% error. In addition, the predicted anti-resonance frequency for the ultrasonic waveguide was 39.4 kHz, which also agreed well with the experimental value of 39.8 kHz with 1.0% error. Based on these results, the developed ultrasonic waveguide might be applicable in microchip cooling.

This paper presents an acoustic inversion method for estimating the bubble size distribution. The estimation error of the attenuation coefficient represented by a Fredholm integral equation of the first kind is defined as an objective function, and an optimal solution is found by applying the Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) method. In order to validate the effectiveness of the inversion method, numerical simulations using two types of bubble distribution are performed. In addition, a series of experiments are carried out in a water tank (1.0 m × 0.54 m × 0.6 m), using bubbles generated by three different generators. Images of the distributed bubbles are obtained by a high-speed camera, and the insertion losses of the bubble layer are measured using a source and a hydrophone. The image is post-processed to glance a distribution characteristics of each bubble generator. Finally, the size distribution of bubbles is estimated by applying the inversion method to the measured insertion loss. From the inversion results, it was observed that the number of bubbles increases exponentially as the bubble size decreases, and then increases again after the local peak at 70 ㎛ - 120 ㎛.

The water discharged from sewage treatment plants has been considered to be useless, due to itslack of economic utility for small hydro power generation. Considering that most sewage treatment facilities have a water head of less than 2 meters and their flow rate is constant, it is necessary to develop a small hydro power generation device capable of maintaining stable power generation and efficiency. This paper presents the development of anintegrated small hydro power generation system and presents its performance evaluation and results. Then, the economics and use of the system for practical applications are suggested. As a result, it is foundthat the generator efficiency is 92%, the electric energy produced is 10kWh and the economic efficiency, as described by the B/C ratio,is 1.0 or more. Particularly, if the operating level of the generation device is maintained at 80% or more of the rated power, it is possible to secure its economic efficiency and, after 23 years, the investment cost will bereturned. The integrated hydro power generation device is expected to have a positive effect not only in terms of the water discharged from the sewage treatment plant, but also in terms of facilities capable of securing similar flow characteristics.

Ocean wave energy harvesting is still too expensive despite developing a variety of wave energy converter (WEC) devices. For the cost-effective wave energy harvesting, it can be an effective measure to use existing breakwaters or newly installed breakwaters for both wave control and energy harvesting purposes. In this study, we investigated the functionality of both breakwater and wave-power generator for the oscillating water column (OWC)-type wave energy converter (WEC) installed in a pneumatic floating breakwater, which was originally developed as a floating breakwater. In order to verify the performance of the breakwater as a WEC, the air flow velocity from air-chamber to WEC has to be evaluated properly. Therefore, air flow velocity, wave transformation and motion of floating structure was numerically implemented based on BEM from linear velocity potential theory without considering the compressibility of air within the chamber. Air pressure, meanwhile, was assumed to be fluctuated by the motions of structure and the water level change within air-chamber. The validity of the obtained values can be determined by comparing the previous results from the numerical analysis for different shapes. Based on numerical model results, wave transformation characteristics around OWC system mounted on the fixed and floating breakwaters, and motions of the structure with air flow velocities are investigated. In summary, all numerical results are almost identical to the previous research considering air compressibility. Therefore, it can be concluded that this analysis not considering air compressibility in the air chamber is more efficient and practical method.

Ultra wideband CPW batons are proposed in this paper. The proposed talons are consisted of ultra wideband multi-stage Wilkinson dividers and 'X'-shaped $180^{\circ}$ out-of-phase generator. Bottom-bridges and via-holes are used to connect CPW ground lines instead of the conventional air-bridges which require troublesome manual working in fabrication with HMIC(Hybrid Microwave Integrated Circuits) substrates. The proposed CPW batons have ultra wideband of 3 or $10(=F_{figh}/F_{low})$ theoretically, the wideband characteristics and S-parameters of the basis Wilkinson divider are directly converted to those of the proposed batons. The proposed batons are so compact and small compared to the conventional Wilkinson batons because no additional area for out-of-phase section is required. So the size of the proposed batons is exactly the same as that of the basis Wilkinson dividers. As examples, 3-stage and 7-stage wideband Wilkinson dividers are converted to the proposed batons. Their measured operating bandwidth are $1\sim3GHz$ and $0.8\sim5GHz$, respectively, with excellent matching, isolation and power division performances. The measured magnitude and phase balance errors are ${\pm}0.5dB\;and\;0.45\;dB,\;and\;{\pm}5^{\circ}\;and\;{\pm}10^{\circ}C$ over $1\sim3GHz\;and\;0.8\sim5GHz$, respectively.

In this paper, we propose new coding techniques for photometry data of three-dimensional(3-D) mesh models. We make a good use of geometry and connectivity information to improve coding efficiency of color, normal vector, and texture data. First of all, we determine the coding order of photometry data exploiting connectivity information. Then, we exploit the obtained geometry information of neighboring vortices through the previous process to predict the photometry data. For color coding, the predicted color of the current vertex is computed by a weighted sum of colors for adjacent vortices considering geometrical characteristics between the current vortex and the adjacent vortices at the geometry predictor. For normal vector coding, the normal vector of the current vertex is equal to one of the optimal plane produced by the optimal plane generator with distance equalizer owing to the property of an isosceles triangle. For texture coding, our proposed method removes discontinuity in the texture coordinates and reallocates texture image segments according to the coding order. Simulation results show that the proposed compression schemes provide improved performance over previous works for various 3-D mesh models.
With the three dimensional magnetic field measuring system dealt with in this paper, accurate measurements and analyses of extremely low frequency(ELF) magnetic fields caused by starting and/or operating electric devices and power installations can be conducted. To obtain high performance for lower frequency and spatial components without any distortion, the measuring system is designed as three dimensionally including the multiturn loop-type magnetic field sensors, differential amplifiers and active integrators. As the results of calibration experiments, the frequency response characteristics of the measuring system range from 8[Hz] to about 53[kHz] for each direction of x, y, z axes, and the response sensitivities are 9.54, 9.21, $10.89[mV/{\mu}T]$, respectively. The actual survey experiments by using an oscillating impulse current generator confirm a reliability of the proposed measuring system. Also, through the other experiments by using small-sized induction motors, the magnetic field intensities when starting and steady-state operating mark 15.8, $8.61[{\mu}T]$ as maximum value, respectively. And those intensities decrease steeply according as the measuring distance increases.

In the dissertation, a power conversion system for fuel cell is composed of a PWM inverter with LC filter in order to convert fuel cell voltage to a single phase 220[V]. In addition, new insulated DC-DC converters are proposed in order that fuel cell voltage is boosted to 380[V]. In this paper, it requires smaller components than existing converters, which makes easy control. The proposed DC-DC converter controls output power by the adjustment of phase-shift width using switch $S_5\;and\;S_6$ in the secondary switch which provides 93-97[%] efficiency in the wide range of output voltage. Fuel cell simulator is implemented to show similar output characteristics to actual fuel cell. Appropriate dead time td enables soft switching to the range where the peak value of excitation current in a high frequency transformer is in accordance with current in the primary circuit. Moreover, appropriate setting to serial inductance La reduces communication loss arisen at light-load generator and serge voltage arisen at a secondary switch and serial diode. Finally, TMS320C31 board and EPLD using PWM switching technique to act a single phase full-bridge inverter which is planed to make alternating current suitable for household
