  • The fundamental aim of the proposed work is to introduce the concept of soft rectangular b-metric spaces, which involves generalizing the notions of rectangular metric spaces and b-metric spaces. Furthermore, an investigation into specific characteristics and topological aspects of the underlying generalization of metric spaces is conducted. Moreover, the research establishes fixed point theorems for mappings that satisfy essential criteria within soft rectangular b-metric spaces. These theorems offer a broader perspective on established results in fixed point theory. Additionally, several congruous examples are presented to enhance the understanding of the introduced spatial framework.

  • Because the concepts and components of computational thinking included in the Information Education Curriculum and the Software Education Guidelines are different, it has been difficult to establish computational thinking-based software education in schools. Therefore, this study, which is based on the Delphi survey results from 39 experts, we defined computational thinking as 'computing thinking' and separated the components of computational thinking into five main categories: (1) problem definition, (2) data analysis, (3) abstraction, (4) automation, and (5) generalization. In addition, we selected software areas that are strongly related to computational thinking in the KAIE's information Curriculum Standard Model and surveyed experts to decide which computing thinking components are related to the achievement criteria of the software areas.

  • This study aims to develop items to diagnose pre-service physics teachers' understanding of the conceptual knowledge of modern physics, based on the achievement criteria presented in the 2015 revised national science curriculum, and to identify the validity and reliability of the newly developed items. Data were collected from 467 pre-service physics teachers in the Physical Education Department or Science Education Department (Physics Education Major) of 15 universities across the nation. In this study the content validity, substantive validity, the internal structure validity, generalization validity, and the external validity proposed by Messick (1995) were examined by various statistical tests. The results of the MNSQ analysis showed that there was no nonconformity in the 23 items. The internal structure validity was confirmed by the standardized residual variance analysis, which shows that the 22 items was unidimensional. The generalization validity was confirmed by differential item functioning (DIF) analysis about groups lectured or not modern physics/quantum mechanics. In addition, item analysis and test analysis based on classical test theory were performed. The mean item difficulty is 0.66, mean item discrimination is 0.47 and mean point biserial coefficient obtained was 0.41. These results for item parameters satisfied the criteria respectively. The reliability of the internal consistency of the KR-20 is 0.77 and the Ferguson's delta obtained was δ = 0.972. By Rasch model analysis, the item difficulty (item measures) was discussed.

  • In GIS area, many line simplification algorithms are studied among generalization methods used for making the building data in the form of digital map from the original line data. On the other hand, there are few studies on the simplification algorithm considering the drawing rules of the digital map in Korea. In this paper, the line simplification algorithm based on the drawing rules is proposed as the methodology to create or update the building data of digital map by extracting the building outline from the CAD data used in construction. To confirm the usefulness of the algorithm, this algorithm and four other effective and general line simplification algorithms (e.g., Douglas-Peucker algorithm) are applied to the same building outlines. Then, the five algorithms are compared on five criteria, the satisfaction degree of the drawing rules, shape similarity, the change rate of the number of points, total length of lines, and the area of polygon. As a result, the proposed algorithm shows the 100% of satisfaction degree to the drawing rules. Also, there is little loss in four other mentioned criteria. Thus, the proposed algorithm in this paper is judged to be effective in updating the building data in digital map with construction drawings.

  • During the last year, we had a very severe situation with the strike of physicians working in medical facilities. From that time, many politicians and scholars insisted on the expansion of public hospitals to enhance the public role in the medical care sector. They think that private medical facilities work for profit motivation and that the high proportion of private to whole facilities is an obstacle to the public function of medical care under social insurance system. They found that one of the reasons for failing to prevent the physicians' strike was the high proportion of private facilities. Others insisted that the strike was not a good reason for the expansion of public hospitals. The physicians' strike was a very rare case, and it is not a good basis for generalization of the discussion of public hospitals. Last year almost all apprentice physicians in public facilities took part in the strike, and consequently the public hospitals also lost the role of public function. They view this increasing involvement of government in the medical sector as improper and the cause of inefficiencies. In this paper we review the debate over the expansion of public facilities. To clarify the debate, we review traditional criteria for the role of government in a market system and to apply these criteria to medical care. There are two traditional areas where government Is acknowledged to have a role in a market system: market imperfections and market failure. Where market imperfections and market failure exist, there may be a role for government. The justifications for government intervention are consumer protection and the existence of externalities. One of externalities is to provide medical care for the poor. The appropriate measures to provide medical owe to the poor can be sought in both demand and supply side subsidies. National health insurance is a method of demand subsidies and establishment of public hospitals is a method of supply side subsidies. Under the National Health Insurance System, the expansion of public hospitals is not an appropriate subsidy policy.

  • This paper discusses the application of fuzzy-ARTMAP neural network to compensate the nonlinearity of satellite communication channel. The fuzzy-ARTMAP is the class of ART(adaptive resonance theory) architectures designed fur supervised loaming. It has capabilities not fecund in other neural network approaches, that includes a small number of parameters, no requirements fur the choice of initial weights, automatic increase of hidden units, and capability of adding new data without retraining previously trained data. By a match tracking process with vigilance parameter, fuzzy-ARTMAP neural network achieves a minimax teaming rule that minimizes predictive error and maximizes generalization. Thus, the system automatically leans a minimal number of recognition categories, or hidden units, to meet accuracy criteria. As a input-converting process for implementing fuzzy-ARTMAP equalizer, the sigmoid function is chosen to convert actual channel output to the proper input values of fuzzy-ARTMAP. Simulation studies are performed over satellite nonlinear channels. QPSK signals with Gaussian noise are generated at random from Volterra model. The performance of proposed fuzzy-ARTMAP equalizer is compared with MLP equalizer.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop math creative problem solving test in order to identify the mathematically gifted on the basis of their math creative problem solving ability and evaluate the goodness of the test in terms of its reliability and validity of measuring creativity in math problem solving on the basis of fluency in producing valid solutions. Ten open math problems were developed requiring math thinking abilities such as intuitive insight, organization of information, inductive and deductive reasoning, generalization and application, and reflective thinking. The 10 open math test items were administered to 2,029 Grade 5 students who were recommended by their teachers as candidates for gifted education programs. Fluency, the number of valid solutions, in each problem was scored by math teachers. Their responses were analyzed by BIGSTEPTS based on Rasch's 1-parameter item-response model. The item analyses revealed that the problems were good in reliability, validity, difficulty, and discrimination power even when creativity was scored with the single criteria of fluency. This also confirmed that the open problems which are less-defined, less-structured and non-entrenched were good in measuring math creativity of the candidates for math gifted education programs. In addition, it discriminated applicants for two different gifted educational institutions and between male and female students as well.

  • In order to prove the hypothesis that the element of school location planning - the density of development, availability of various private institutes, the location of school, the type of school district, the distance to nearby schools, the existence of communal areas, the pedestrian street, the number of road lanes - affects the increase and decrease of the number of students in the long term, we examined the tendency of the number of long-term (24 years). The results of the analysis are as follows: First, the development factors such as development density, location of school, type of school district, distance from neighboring schools, separation of pedestrians and cars are clearly related. Second, the planning factors such as location of private school and installation of pedestrian-only street seem to be related to each other. Third, the number of road lanes and element of "communal area" is irrelevant. This study is limited to generalization of five new metropolitan cities in the metropolitan area, and it is necessary to further elaborate the analysis factors and evaluation criteria.

  • In this study, the test that were used in entrance examination for chemistry class in a Science-Gifted Education Center for middle school students were analyzed by using criteria for identification and measurement of scientific giftedness and a classical test theory. The result of analysis exhibited that most of problems measured more than two elements of scientific giftedness and required applications of scientific knowledge of middle school level to solve problems. In the analysis of sub-elements of scientific giftedness, originality, fluency in creativity and finding problems/formulating hypothesis, planning inquiry, interpreting data in science process skills were dominant while drawing conclusion and generalization processes were lacking. In correlation analysis between total score and each type of problems, total score was most influenced by the problems measuring science inquiry linked with scientific knowledge. Item difficulty is moderately high and item discrimination is moderate.
