Agar Gel Barrier의 농도변화에 따른 폭발완화 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Investigations on the Characteristics of Explosion Mitigations by Different Concentrations of Agar Gel Barriers)

  • 폭발챔버에서 Agar gel barrier의 폭발완화 특성을 조사하기 위하여 실험적 연구를 수행하였다. 단면적 $100{\times}100mm^2$, 길이 1400 mm를 가지는 폭발챔버 그리고 폭발챔버의 개구부에 설치될 gel barrier의 고정을 위하여 $100{\times}100{\times}300mm^3$의 챔버를 제작하였다. Agar gel과 물을 혼합하여 4가지 서로 다른 농도(2, 3, 4, 5 %)를 가지는 agar gel barrier를 제조하여 실험변수로 사용하였다. 폭발과정 동안 gel displacement의 가시화를 위해 고속카메라 그리고 gel barrier 전 후단의 폭발압력 변화를 관찰하고자 압력획득시스템을 사용하였다. 실험결과, gel 농도 증가에따라 gel의 파열시간 및 최대 폭발압력 도달시간이 지연되는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, gel 농도가 증가할 때 gelbarrier 전 후단에서의 폭발압력 완화율이 증가하는 경향으로 나타났다.

  • 폭발챔버에서 water gel barrier의 표면형상의 크기에 따른 폭발거동 특성을 조사하기 위하여 실험적 연구를 수행하였다. 단면적 $100{\times}100\;mm^2$, 길이 1600 mm를 가지는 폭발챔버 그리고 점화원으로부터 각각 300 mm, 700 mm 및 1100 mm 떨어진 챔버 바닥면에 $100{\times}200\;mm^2$의 크기에 서로 다른 크기의 표면형상을 고려한 gel barrier를 설치할 수 있도록 제작하였다. 젤라틴 gel과 물을 혼합하여 4가지 크기의 표면형상을 가지는 water gel barrier를 제조하여 실험변수로 사용하였다. 폭발과정 동안 화염전파 과정을 가시화하기 위해 고속카메라 그리고 폭발압력 변화를 관찰하고자 압력획득시스템을 사용하였다. 실험결과, gel barrier의 표면형상의 크기가 커질수록 화염전파과정 및 최대 폭발압력 도달시간은 빠르게 진행되는 것으로 나타났으며, 화염속도 및 폭발압력 또한 증가하는 경향으로 나타났다.

  • Numerical experiments were performed to investigate horizontal barrier formation in unsaturated soils by permeation grouting through multiple vertical injection pipes. The results were compared with the horizontal barrier formation achieved by using multiple horizontal injection pipes. It was observed that tile point injection of the vertical pipe system generates a gel barrier that has a less lateral area than the injection through the horizontal pipe.

다층구조 Water Gel Barrier의 농도변화에 따른 폭발특성에 대한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Studies of the Explosion Characteristics by Varying Concentrations of a Multi Layered Water Gel Barrier)

  • Experimental studies have been carried out to investigate characteristics of gas explosion using a multi layered water gel barrier in a vented explosion chamber. The chamber is consisted of 1600 mm in length, with a square cross-section of $100{\times}100mm^2$. The gel concentration of inner layer of MLWGB ranged from 10% to 90% with intervals of 10% by weight of gel. Displacement of the MLWGB was photographed with a measured using a high-speed video camera, and pressure development was measured using a data acquisition system. It was found that MLWGBs with 10 ~ 20% inner layer concentrations were ruptured during the explosions. As the concentrations of inner layer increased from 30% to 90%, the barriers were not ruptured. As the gel concentrations of the inner layer increased, the displacement increased toward the chamber exit and the pressure decreased for the ruptured barriers. It was found that the pressure attenuation obtained from the MLWGB was higher than that of the single water gel barrier. For the cases of non-ruptured barriers, the pressure inside the chamber less increased with increasing gel concentrations of the inner layer. It was also found that the displacement moved back into the chamber for non-ruptured MLWGBs, and it was sensitive to the gel concentrations.

솔-젤법을 이용한 aminoalkoxysilane 산소차단필름의 제조 (The Preparation of Sol-Gel Derived Aminoalkoxysilane Films and its Application for Oxygen Barrier)

  • The oxygen barrier films were formed on poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) substrate by a sol-gel process using aminoalkoxysilanes. The coating layers were characterized by FT-IR and SEM. The oxygen permeability coefficients of coating films were measured by variable volume method, and then the influences of solvent ratio in sol and film drying temperature on the oxygen barrier properties were investigated. The aminoalkoxysilane coating films exhibited much higher oxygen barrier properties than PET film. The oxygen permeability coefficient of the film coated with each of APTEOS and APTMOS was measured to be $2.96{\times}10^{-6}$ and $3.05{\times}10^{-5}\;GPU$, respectively, while that of PET film was $1.16{\times}10^{-4}\;GPU$.

  • We fabricate Schottky diodes with the contact between a sol-gel derived ZnO layer and Au that guarantees the expected Schottky contact due to the high work function. The formed single metal Schottky barrier shows characteristics comparable to the barrier formed by alloys. Au is deposited by thermal evaporation on a ZnO thin film that is optimally formed under sol-gel process conditions of a 1-mol zinc acetate concentration and a 3000-rpm coating speed. Possible defects. which can provide deleterious current paths. are minimized by patterning the deposited Au. The I-V curve verifies the formation of a Schottky contact. Measurements showed that the Schottky barrier height and leakage current at -5 V were 0.6 eV and $1{\times}10^{-12}A$. respectively.

High performance Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Materials for Application in OLED Barrier Coating

  • Epoxy functionalized organic-inorganic hybrid materials (hybrimers) were synthesized by sol-gel reaction for application in OLED barrier coating. By using the calcium degradation method, the oxygen transition rate (OTR) and water vapor transition rate (WVTR) measured so far is $10^{-2}cc/m^2$-day for oxygen and $10^{-1}g/m^2$-day for water molecules with single hybrimer coating film, respectively. Encapsulated OLED devices have life time of 14hrs of a single hybrimer barrier coating and 29hrs of hybrimer/inorganic double barrier coatings at $25^{\circ}C$ and 60% relative humidity.

  • The oxygen barrier films were formed on poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) substrate by a sol-gel process using 3-aminoproprytrimethoxysilane (APTMOS). The effects of solvent type, coating times and incorporation of fumed silica on oxygen permeability coefficient were investigated. The APTMOS coating film prepared from methanol as a solvent exhibited higher oxygen barrier properties than that using THF. The oxygen permeability coefficient of coated film with APTMOS/methanol by coating 7 times was measured to be $2.28{\times}10^{-6}$, while that of PET film was $1.16{\times}10^{-4}$ GPU. The addition of fumed silica does not affect the oxygen barrier properties. It may be explained that silica particles disrupt chain packing, which leads to an increase in free volume for permeation.

Characterization of Silica/EVOH Hybrid Coating Materials Prepared by Sol-Gel Method

  • In this study, the silica-based hybrid material with high barrier property was prepared by incorporating ethylene-vinyl alcohol (EVOH) copolymer, which has been utilized as packaging materials due to its superior gas permeation resistance, during sol-gel process. In preparation of this EVOH/$SiO_2$ hybrid coating materials, the (3-glycidoxy-propyl)-trimethoxysilane (GPTMS) as a silane coupling agent was employed to promote interfacial adhesion between organic and inorganic phases. As confirmed from FT-IR analysis, the physical interaction between two phases was improved due to the increased hydrogen bonding, resulting in homogeneous microstructure with dispersion of nano-sized silica particles. However, depending on the range of content of added silane coupling agent (GPTMS), micro-phase separated microstructure in the hybrid could be observed due to insufficient interfacial attraction or possibility of polymerization reaction of epoxide ring in GPTMS. The oxygen barrier property of the mono-layer coated BOPP (biaxially oriented polypropylene) film was examined for the hybrids containing various GPTMS contents. Consequently, it is revealed that GPTMS should be used in an optimum level of content to produce the high barrier EVOH/$SiO_2$ hybrid material with an improved optical transparency and homogeneous phase morphology.

Surface treatment of sol-gel bioglass using dielectric barrier discharge plasma to enhance growth of hydroxyapatite

  • Surface treatment of sol-gel bioglass is required to increase its biomedical applications. In this study, a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma treatment in atmospheric pressure was performed on the surface of [$SiO_2-CaO-P_2O_5-B_2O_3$] sol-gel derived glass. The obtained bioglass was treated by plasma using discharge current 12 mA with an exposure period for 30 min. The type of discharge can be characterized by measuring the discharge current and applied potential waveform and the power dissipation. Apatite formation on the surface of the DBD-treated and untreated samples after soaking in simulated body fluid (SBF) at $37^{\circ}C$ is characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-Ray diffraction (XRD), inductively coupled plasma (ICP-OES) and scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM/EDS). We observed a marked increase in the amount of apatite deposited on the surface of the treated plasma samples than those of the untreated ones, indicating that DBD plasma treatment is an efficient method and capable of modifying the surface of glass beside effectively transforming it into highly bioactive materials.
