Decision of Lubricated Friction Conditions for Materials of Automobile Transmission Gear Using Neural Network

  • It is hard to inspect the state of lubrication of an automobile transmission visually. Thus, it is necessary to develop a new inspection method. Wear debris can be collected from the lubricants of an operating transmission of an automobile, and its morphology will be directly related to the friction condition of the interacting materials from which the wear debris originated in the lubricated transmission. In this study, wear debris in lubricating oil are extracted by membrane filter $(0.45{\mu}m)$, and the quantitative values of shape parameters of wear debris are calculated by digital image processing. These shape parameters are studied and identified by an artificial neural network algorithm. The results of the study may be applicable to the prediction and diagnosis of the operating condition of transmission gear.

  • Hardened layer and compressive residual stress created by carburized treatment effect on bending fatigue strength of gear massively. Also, shot peening treatment improves the strength of carburized gear as it does the hardness and residual stress of surface layer. In these days shot peening techniques are welcomed as one of physical improvement ways around the surface of materials. It is used widely because qualitative analysis of shot peening has become possible and surface treatment can be done with very little costs compared to other surface improvement methods. Therefore this study investigates the effect of shot peening in surface shape and bending fatigue strength after doing many kinds of shot peening treatments, then doing fatigue test and also explained characteristics of shot peening gear.

  • Tight integration of product design and process planning in the early design stage would make bigger impact as wider spectrum of design and manufacturing alternatives can be pursued and evaluated. Thus the development of systematic computer-based support for this integration is desirable. For this integration and process planning in the early design stage. the systematic method to synthesize shape of part from functional requirements is crucial. This research presents the methods of functional decomposition from overall function or product and synthesizing shape of part based on functional relations extracted from functional decomposition using planetary gear transmission system as an example.

  • In this research, a hot and cold combined forging process for manufacturing net-shape one-way clutch bearing outer race of an automobile automatic transmission unit is developed. The process is composed of hot forging for manufacturing an optimized gear-like perform and precision cold forging for sizing the perform into final net-shape product. Finite element simulation techniques are applied to find the optimized process designs including blank and die shapes. The predictions and experiments are compared, revealing that they are in good agreement with each other. The dimensional test showed that the important dimensional requirements on gear tooth-like shape of the forged product were fulfilled.

  • In this study, we developed the gear type vane damper replacing the link type through gear design using Finite Element Analysis(FEA). FEA about the pinion and the vane shaft in the boss of gear type damper for quality improvement was accomplished. We analyzed fluid flow according to angular displacement. Catched the problem of the torque and backlash bring to the pinion as structure improvement of the forced draft fan(FD FAN). Finally, we compared the gear driving result with simulation. It is the objective of the present study to identify a nonlinear flow rate control of gear type vane damper and to suggest a damper shape with a linear flow rate control. This study is related to the development of gear type vane damper change link type in forced draft fan.

비원형 유성기어열을 사용한 이앙기 식부기구의 설계 (Design of a rice transplanting mechanism with noncircular planetary-gear-train system)

  • Transplanting accuracy of a rice transplanter mainly depends on the trajectory of the hoe for picking, conveying and transplanting of seedlings as well as the return motion. The trajectory can be decided and prescribed to be suitable in treating seedlings fur a prevailing soil condition. For the purpose of the transplanting accuracy, the design of a transplanting mechanism would be carried out using a planetary-gear-train system instead of the four bar linkage system. In this study, a design method of transplanting mechanism is theoretically proposed by synthesizing a noncircular planetary-gear-train system fur the tool (hoe) to trace a prescribed trajectory. The method utilizes an optimization approach to decide the lengths of an arm and a tool, the inverse kinematics to figure out the configuration angles of the two links, the roll contact condition in transmitting motion between the gears, and a linearization approach to obtain the shapes of the gears. Based on the proposed method, the shapes of the gears and the lengths of the tools of the planetary-gear-train system are determined fur three prescribed trajectories. A kinematical simulation with a commercialized package program is also carried out to confirm that the gear-train system synthesized with the proposed method is able to trace the prescribed trajectory.

120kW급 모노레일용 유성기어감속기의 치형수정에 관한 연구 (A Study on Tooth Profile Modification of Planetary Reducer for 120kW Class Monorail)

  • In this study, parameters and requirements of an 120kW class monorail planetary gearbox was analysed and the adaptive planetary gearbox design was selected. The specification of the sun gear, planetary gear and carrier was set and the profile & lead was optimized. The mechanical efficiency of the optimized one and the original one was observed. Dynamo-tester system was used to observe the mechanical efficiency of the planetary gearbox. A dynamo unit was connected with the planetary gearbox which straightened through the motor by a coupling. The standard tooth shape planetary gearbox and modified tooth shape planetary gearbox were used as test pieces and the rotation speed was set from 600 to 6000rpm with 600rpm, 2.5min one step. In order to check the mechanical efficiency of the planetary gearbox, the tests were done as follows. 1) The power loss between driving motor and dynamo tester. 2) Temperature variation by different rotation speeds. 3) Noise variation by different rotation speeds.

치차형 스크린의 선별 성능 향상을 위한 동적 해석과 설계 형상 변경 (Dynamic Analysis and Design of Star Screen in Recycling Construction Plant)

  • Recycling issue for the construction wastes is gradually important to future society. Recently, a star screen has been developed to use for this purpose, however some modifications were needed to enhance the separation accuracy. The objective of study is to evaluate and predict separation ability by verifying the effect for the modified shapes of the screen part. Two analysis models of the screen part were established using commercial software ADAMS to simulate the dynamic interaction of waste particles. Results showed that spacer and gear shapes directly affected separation ability. The modified spacer shapes were much higher screening rate with comparison to default shape. Screening ability for the half number of gear type was greater than other types. Therefore, modification of the design of screen part will be required to achieve better separation ability.

  • Oval gears are typical kinds of non-circular gears and are widely used in flow meters. This paper presents a tooth profile design of an oval gear according to the curvature of the pitch curve. The length of the pitch oval is divided by the number of teeth and the curvature of the divided points is obtained. The tooth profile is designed on the circle of the curvature as if it is the pitch circle of a gear. The teeth of the oval gear have the same module and pressure angle, but the pitch circle of each tooth differs in size. Thus, the teeth on the divided points of the pitch oval are different in shape. This type of oval gear will improve the meshing properties.
