Structure-II hydrate has been highlighted due to its higher gas storage capacity and favorable thermodynamic conditions. In this study, we introduce a new structure-II hydrate former, tert-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) and confirm the structural characteristics through High-Resolution Powder Diffraction (HRPD), $^{13}C$ solide-state NMR and Ramanspectroscopy. Here,we also investigated the thermodynamic stability of binary(TBHP+gaseous) clathrate hydrates. The experimental data were generated using an isochoric pressure-search method. The dissociation data for (TBHP +gaseous) clathrate hydrates are compared with the other hydrocarbon hydrate and pure gaseous hydrate.
A study was made to clarify the topographical. and Physical characteristics of ginseng field in terms of soil science and to find the relationship between soil characteristics and ginseng growth, as well as yield of ginseng roots Forty nine farmer's red ginseng field of ginseng growing area were chosen for this study and investigated for two years. The results obtained were as follow. 1. Ginseng fie1ds with high yield which represent the more than 1.8kg of ginseng root per 3.2m2 were found in soil series of Bancheon, Yeongog, Weongog, etc. whose texture were the clay loam to clay soil. On the other hand, ginseng field with low yield were observed in soil series of seogto whose texture was loamy soil with high content of gravels. 2 Soil of ginseng field with high yield had higher content of clay. silt soil moisture and soil pore as compared with soils of low yields. These soil characteristics were positively correlated with stem length stem diameter and root weight of ginseng plsnt and negatively correlated with rate of missing plant 3. The adequate ranges of soil 3 phase from high yield ginseng field were 40 to 50% of solid Phase, 22 to 35% of liquid phase, 25 to 35% of gaseous phase in top soil and 45 to 55% of solid phase. 28 to 30% of liquid phase. 15 to 20% of gaseous phase in subsoil respectively.
Computerized interpretation of vapor phase infrared spectra using a novel expert system approach for spectra/structure correlation for vapor phase spectra is introduced. Rapid identification of aromatic functional groups of components in gaseous mixture can be achieved using this expert system.
The organization of phospholipid monolayers on a water surface was investigated by means of Maxwell-Displacement-Current(MDC)-Measuring technique. The phase transition from the gaseous phase to the gaseous-fluid phase which accompanies the polar ordering of lipid molecules was detected by the technique in the range of immeasurable low surface pressure and the molcular-area which gives the onset of the transition was determined for lipid monolayers. The vertical component of dipole moment of lipid membranes was determined from the charge flowing the rough the circuit, and we measured differential themal analysis of sample.

The organization of phospholipid monolayers and their monolayers mixed with fatty acid containing azobenzene on the water surface was investigated by means of the displacement current measurement method. The phase transition from the gaseous phase to the gaseous-fluid phase which accompanies the polar ordering of phospholipid molecules was detected in the range of immeasurably low surface pressure. The molecular area which gives the onset of the transition was determined for phospholipid monolayers. The Maxwell displacement current(MDC) pulses were generated across mixed monolayers due to the photoisomerization of fatty acid containing azobenzene by alternating irradiation of ultraviolet and visible light, because the condensation of pure azobenzene monolayers was loosened by the introduction of phospholipids into the monolayers. The displacement currents generated during light irradiation were also investgated in connection with monolayer compression cycles. It was found that the maximum of MDC appeared at the molecular area just before the initial rise of surface pressure in compression cycles.
Between June and November 2002, the atmospheric concentrations and dry deposition fluxes of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Chonju were measured four times each over five days. The total concentration of PAHs in ambient air was $84\;ng/m^3$, with about 90% existing in the vapor phase. Plots of log ($K_p$) vs. log (${P_L}^0$) indicated that PAHs partitioning was not in equilibrium and the particulate characteristics did not change with seasonal variations. The PAHs fluxes to a water surface sampler (WSS) and a dry deposition plate (DDP) were about 14.15 and $1.92\;{\mu}g/m^2/d$, respectively. The flux of the gaseous phase, acquired by subtracting the DDP from the WSS results, was about $12.23\;{\mu}g/m^2/d$. A considerable correlation was shown between the atmospheric concentrations and deposition fluxes in the gaseous phase, but not in the particulate phase, as the fluxes of the particulate phase were dependent on the physical velocity differences of the particulates based on the particle diameter.

An instrument was developed for the simultaneous determination of gas- and aerosol-phase nitrous acid (HONO). Gaseous HONO (HONO(g)) was sampled by a diffusion scrubber and particulate nitrite ($NO_2\;^-$(p)) was collected by a particle growth chamber. The collected samples were analyzed in time-sharing manner, based on the peroxynitrite-induced luminol chemiluminescence. The automated system was found to be sensitive with 13 pptv of detection limit, fast with 4 min. of sampling frequency, and simple and affordable to construct and operate. The system was optimized by adjusting the experimental parameters. The system was applied to the field measurement of gas- and particle-phase HONO during the springtime of 2004 in Gwangju, South Korea. HONO(g) concentrations varied diurnally from 200 pptv around 3 P.M. to 800 pptv at 5 A.M. The variation of $NO_2\;^-$(p) was not significant with the maximum of 240 pptv at 11 P.M. and the minimum of 170 pptv at 4 P.M., not displaying distinct characteristics.

Hourly variation of gaseous nitrous acid( HNO$_2$) concentration in Seoul air was monitored from Jan. 11 to SeP. 12, Nitrous acid concentration was determined by DS/IC over nine months of observation, HNO$_2$ range from 0.04 ppb to 5.5 ppb. Gor-tex tube as gaseous HNO$_2$generator in this study is thought to be more convenient and reproducible device than previous generator. As a result of NaOH instead of Na$_2$ CO$_3$/NaHCO$_3$ solution as the IC eluent, we could obtain more stable baseline. The concentration of the NaOH eluent was 15 mM . The limit of detection(3$\sigma$) of the liquid- Phase and gas phase nitrous acid of this method are 1.1ng/$m\ell$ , 0.04 n $\ell$ / $\ell$, respectively. The precisions evaluated by 10 replicate analysis of standard solution and standard gas generated are $\pm$1.59, $\pm$2. 89% RSD, respectively. Due to the lack of standard material for air, direct assessment of the accuracy was not possible. This study was applied to the analysis of Seoul ambient air and their results are reported herein.
Gaseous organochlorine pesticides (OCPs : heptachlor epoxide, p, p'-DDE, ${\gamma}-HCH,\;{\alpha}-chlordane,\;{\gamma}-chlordane$ and trans-nonachlor) concentration was measured using PUF high volume sampler from June, 2000 to June, 2002 in the semi-rural atmosphere. The OCPs concentration in atmosphere, which is estimated by the slope (m) of Clausius-Clapeyron equation and phase-transition energy $({\Delta}H)$, was influenced by revolatilization from environmental matrix (soil, water and tree leaves) and a long range transportation of air mass. But the former affected OCPs concentration more than the latter. The degradation rate constants (k) of OCPs calculated using multiple regression analysis and revised standard temperature method were in good agreement each other. The value of k of ${\gamma}-HCH$ was very low as -0.0007, but the range of k of other components were $-0.00l8{\sim}-0.0038$. The half-life $({\tau})$ which was calculated by k of ${\gamma}-HCH$ was 2.6 years-the longest one, but that of heptachlor epoxide was in 0.5 year-the shortest one. $({\tau})\;of\;{\alpha}-chlordane,\;{\gamma}-chlordane$ and trans-nonachlor in technical chlordane was 1.0, 1.1 and 0.7 year respectively.
Following a severe accident in a nuclear power plant, iodine is a major contributor to the potential health risks for the public. Because the amount of iodine released largely depends on its volatility, iodine's behavior in containment has been extensively studied in international programs such as International Source Term Programme-Experimental Program on Iodine Chemistry under Radiation (EPICUR), Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)-Behaviour of Iodine Project, and OECD-Source Term Evaluation and Mitigation. Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS) has joined these programs and is developing a simplified, stand-alone iodine chemistry model, RAIM (Radio-Active Iodine chemistry Model), based on the IMOD methodology and other previous studies. This model deals with chemical reactions associated with the formation and destruction of iodine species and surface reactions in the containment atmosphere and the sump in a simple manner. RAIM was applied to a simulation of four EPICUR tests and one Radioiodine Test Facility test, which were carried out in aqueous or gaseous phases. After analysis, the results show a trend of underestimation of organic and molecular iodine for the gas-phase experiments, the opposite of that for the aqueous-phase ones, whereas the total amount of volatile iodine species agrees well between the experiment and the analysis result.
