1D 및 3D 열음향 연소불안정 모델링 (1D and 3D Thermoacoustic Combustion Instability Modeling)

  • In this study, 1D and 3D thermoacoustic analysis model were developed in order to predict fundamental characteristics of combustion instability in a gas turbine lean premixed combustor. The 1D network model can be used to analyze frequency and growth rate of combustor instability by simply dividing whole system into a couple of acoustic sub-elements, while the 3D Helmholtz solver model can predict directly acoustic modes as well as basic properties of combustion instability. Prediction results of both 1D and 3D models generally showed a good agreement with the measurements, even if there was a slight overestimation for instability range.

희박 예혼합 정도에 따른 모형 덤프 가스터빈 연소기의 화염 구조와 $NO_X$배출 특성 (Characteristics of Flame Structure and $NO_X$ Emission in a Dump Gas Turbine as Fuel-Air Mixing Degrees)

  • Experiments were carried out in an atmopheric pressure, lab-scale gas turbine combustor to see the effect of partial premixing on unstable flame structure and $NO_X$ emission characteristics. The swirl angle is 45 deg., fuel-air mixing degrees were varied 0, 50, and 100% respectively at equivalence ration ranging from 0.53 to 0.79. The evaluation of phased-locked OH chemiluminescence images were acquired with an ICCD. $NO_X$ emission characteristics were also investigated at each experimental condition. The effect of the fuel-air mixing degree on the flame structure was obtained from phase-locked $OH^*$ images. And it was obtained from local heat release characteristics that the information about the region which the combustion instability was amplified or damped. It also could be confirmed that ${\sigma}$ has greatly influence on $NO_X $emission characteristics at lean regimes. It would be expected that it could provide invaluable data for understanding the mechanism of combustion instability

모델 섹터 연소기의 점화기 깊이에 따른 점화특성 연구 (Study on Ignition Characteristics Relating to Igniter Penetration Depth in a Model Sector Combustor)

  • Aero gas turbine engines must demonstrate their ability to be ignited on ground conditions or relighted in flight. The electric spark ignition is usually used in current aero gas turbine engines. Experiments on ignition characteristics relating to spark igniter penetration depth under atmospheric pressure and temperature conditions were conducted on the model combustor which is scaled in 1/18. Exciter was operated during 2 seconds, and successful ignition phenomena were confirmed by the pressure rising sharply in combustor. In addition, instantaneous ignition images were captured by a high-speed camera. It showed kernel propagation and successful ignition events in the sector model combustor. Ignition test results showed that ignition limit with increase in penetration depth of the igniter plug was wider. When the penetration depth of the igniter plug increased under the same fuel injection pressure condition, successful ignition events were obtained in higher differential pressure conditions between inlet and outlet of the combustor. The results demonstrate that the ratio of the combustible mixture, which is exposed to the high temperature environment around the igniter plug tip, increases. Thereby affect the combustor ignition performance.

  • 가스터빈 희박 예혼합 연소기에서 발생하는 연소 불안정 현상을 모델링하기 위해서는 화염의 동 특성에 대한 정량적, 정성적 분석이 필수적이다. 이를 위하여 화염전달함수가 전산유체역학을 통하여 모델링되었다. 기존 화염전달함수의 연구 결과로부터, 화염전달함수의 결과는 화염의 구조에 크게 의존하는 것으로 알려졌다. 본 연구에서는 실제 계측된 화염의 구조와 유사한 형상을 갖도록 열전달 조건을 최적화한 후, 동일 조건에서 화염전달함수가 모델링되었다. 화염의 형상을 정확하게 예측할 수 있다면, 이로부터 전달함수의 이득값과 위상차의 모델링 결과 역시 실험값과 유사한 거동을 확인할 수 있었다.

A Review on Spray Characteristics of Biobutanol and Its Blended Fuels in IC engines

  • This review will be concentrated on the spray characteristics of biobutanol and its blends fuels in internal combustion engines including compression ignition, spark ignition and gas turbine engines. Butanol can be produced by fermentation from sucrose-containing feedstocks, starchy materials and lignocellulosic biomass. Among four isomers of butanol, n-butanol and iso-butanol has been used in CI and SI engines. This is due to higher octane rating and lower water solubility of both butanol compared with other isomers. The researches on the spray characteristics of neat butanol can be classified into the application to CI and SI engines, particularly GDI engine. Two empirical correlations for the prediction of spray angle for butanol as a function of Reynolds number was newly suggested. However, the applicability for the suggested empirical correlation is not yet proved. The butanol blended fuels used for the investigation of spray characteristics includes butanol-biodiesel blend, butanol-gasoline blend, butano-jet A blend and butanol-other fuel blends. Three blends such as butanol/ethanol, butanol/heptane and butanol/heavy fuel oil blends are included in butanol-other fuel blends. Even though combustion and emission characteristics of butanol/diesel fuel blend in CI engines were broadly investigated, study on spray characteristics of butanol/diesel fuel blend could not be found in the literature. In addition, the more study on the spray characteristics of butanol /gasoline blend is required.

  • In order to compliant the stringent exhaust emission regulations, higher fuel efficiency and cleaner exhaust gas in combustion engines have been required. To improve combustion efficiency, an exhaust gas temperature is increasing, therefore higher temperature resistance is required for components in exhaust system, especially turbine wheel in turbocharger. IN100 looks quite attractive candidate as it has high temperature properties with low density, however it has low castability due to poor ductility at high temperature. In this study, the balance of Al and Ti composition was optimized from the base alloy IN100 to improve the high temperature ductility by expanding the γ single phase region below the solidification temperature, while obtaining the high temperature strength by maintaining the volume fraction of γ' phase equivalent to IN100 around 1000℃. Furthermore, the high temperature creep rupture life increased by adding a small amount of Ta. The alloy developed in this study has high castability, low density and high specific strength at high temperature.

  • 다단연소사이클 엔진의 추진제는 예연소기에서 일부 연소되고, 연소된 고온의 가스는 터빈을 구동하고 터빈은 터보펌프를 작동시킨다. 터보펌프의 터빈을 통과한 연소가스는 고온 고압의 상태로 연소기로 공급되는데, 이때 연료 또는 산화제의 양에 따라 연소가스는 연료 과잉 또는 산화제 과잉 상태로 공급된다. 산화제 과잉상태의 환경에서 금속 배관은 작은 입자의 충격에 의해서도 발화 또는 폭발될 수 있다. 이를 방지하기 위해 로켓 선진 국가에서는 산화제가 이동하는 공간에 내산화 코팅을 한다. 본 연구에서는 해외 내산화 코팅 물질 분석을 통해 국산 조합분말을 개발하였고 내산화 코팅 공정을 확립하였다.

  • MEMS 가스터빈 엔진에서 연료와 공기의 혼합에 영향을 미치는 중요한 요소중 하나는 연료 분사구 형상의 설계이다. 본 연구에서는 3 개의 연료 주입부와 각 주입부에 연결된 여러 개의 분사구에 의해 연료와 공기가 혼합되는 시스템을 고려하여 분사구의 배열과 연료 공급비율의 변화에 따른 혼합 정도를 당량비를 통하여 정량적으로 해석하였다.

  • The isothermal flow structure and mixing characteristics of a hybrid/dual swirl jet combustor for micro-gas turbine were numerically investigated. Location of pilot nozzle, angle and direction of swirl vane were varied as main parameters with constant fuel flow rates for each nozzle. As a result, the variation in location of pilot nozzle resulted in significant change in turbulent flow field near burner exit, in particular, center toroidal recirculation zone (CTRZ) as well as turbulent intensity, and thus flame stability and emission characteristics might be significantly changed. The swirl angle of $45^{\circ}$ provided similar recirculating flow patterns in a wide range of equivalence ratio (0.5~1.0). Compared to the co-swirl flow, the counter-swirl flow leaded to the reduction in CTRZ and fuel-air mixing near the burner exit and a weak interaction between the pilot partially premixed flame and the lean premixed flame. With the comparison of experimental results, it was confirmed that the case of co-swirl flow and swirl $angle=45^{\circ}$ would provided an optimized combustor performance in terms of flame stability and pollutant emissions.

  • 최근 신재생에너지 증가로 인하여 가스터빈 발전기는 양질의 전력공급을 위해 일일 기동·정지가 지속되고 있으며 이에 따른 영향으로 고온부품의 수명이 단축되고 고온 측정용 온도센서의 고장발생 빈도가 높아지고 있고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 가스터빈 제어에 사용되고 있는 듀얼 온도센서가 고장이 났을 경우 센서의 고장을 정확하게 진단하고 체계적으로 검출할 수 있는 퍼지로직 기반의 고장진단 알고리즘을 제안하였으며, 제안된 알고리즘의 유용성 확인을 위해 Matlab/Simulink의 환경에서 다양한 시뮬레이션을 수행함으로 제안된 알고리즘의 유용성을 확인하고자 하였다.
