이전 논문(2009)에서 나는 잠자는 미녀 역설에 대한 한 가지 해결책을 제시하였는데, 그에 의하면 미녀가 동전 앞면에 월요일에 부여하는 확률은 1/2보다 낮아야 한다. 이것은 물론 1/3주의에 유리한 결론이다. 그렇지만 내가 1/3주의를 성공적으로 옹호했다고 할지라도, 한 가지 중요한 물음이 남는다: 왜 1/2주의는 틀렸는가? 그들의 주요 논변은 간단하다: 잠자는 미녀는 동전이 어떻게 땅에 떨어지는지에 대한 새로운 증거를 받지 못했기 때문에, 그녀가 그 가능성에 부여하는 확률은 이전과 같아야 한다. 이제 다음 사실에 주목해 보자: 만일 1/3입장이 옳다면 잠자는 미녀 역설은 이른바 오래된 증거 문제의 새로운 예가 될 것이다. 이 논문에서 나는 새롭고 직접적으로 관련된 증거가 없음에도 왜 잠자는 미녀가 그녀의 믿음의 정도를 바꿀 수 있는지 대니얼 가버(1983)가 오래된 증거 문제에 대해 내놓은 해결책을 가지고 설명할 것이다.

The off-road tractive performance of tracked vehicles can be evaluated in terms of soil thrust, motion resistance and drawbar pull. The ability to predict accurately ground pressure distribution under track is of importance since the vehicle sinkage and motion resistance are closely related to it. While the formulation of the method for predicting ground pressure distribution follows closely in spirit the ideas outlined for the terrain with linear pressure- sinkage relation case by Garber and Wong, the analysis of various terrain stiffness is magnified by numerical implementation procedure. The effects of soil parameters on tractive forces can be introduced through the terrain-track interaction such as pressure-sinkage and shearing characteristics. It is illustrated by determining the drawber pull-slip relation and corresponding ground pressure distribution for the terrains typically chosen and by comparing the results with the conventional ones based on normal ground pressure. The factorial experiment method is finally adopted for checking the sensitivity of the values of soil parameters on the drawbar pull.

The high-frequency force-balance (HFFB) technique and its subsequent improvements are reviewed in this paper, including a discussion about nonlinear mode shape corrections, multi-force balance measurements, and using HFFB model to identify aeroelastic parameters. To apply the HFFB technique in engineering practice, various validation studies have been conducted. This paper presents the results from an analytical validation study for a simple building with nonlinear mode shapes, three experimental validation studies for more complicated buildings, and a field measurement comparison for a super-tall building in Hong Kong. The results of these validations confirm that the improved HFFB technique is generally adequate for engineering applications. Some technical limitations of HFFB are also discussed in this paper, especially for higher-order mode response that could be considerable for super tall buildings.

입체영상 기술은 디지털 영상 분야의 중요한 갈래이며, 지난 20여년 동안 연구와 발전을 거쳐 크게 성장하였다. 이 기술은 많은 분야에서 더 다양화되고 중요한 영상콘텐츠 제작 방법으로 발전하고 있다. 입체영상 기술에 기초한 홀로그램 투영 기술은 1947년 영국 헝가리계 물리학자 대니얼 가버의 이론적 연구 이후 홀로그램 기술은 지속적이면서 빠른 속도로 발전해 사회적으로 이슈화 되었다. 현재 진정한 홀로그램 기술에는 미치지 못하지만, 이와 유사한 기술을 활용한 입체영상 작품이 다양한 분야에 응용되면서 점점 더 중요하게 부각되고 있다. 본 연구는 디지털 영상콘텐츠 디자인 설계의 관점에서 고전적이고 창의적인 입체영상 기술을 활용한 콘텐츠 사례를 분석하고 홀로그램 투영의 멀티프로토콜 방향을 모색하였다.
