  • The multi degree of freedom system using magnetic levitation has been implemented successfully. Differently from another noncontact systems, the developed system was focused on the maximization of the system stiffness under the constraint of a limited input. The variation of a relative adopting point between the magnetic pair, its location on the fixed base, and the selection of optimal specifications for the main active magnetic elements give us another chance to realize the increased robustness against external disturbances with the less control inputs. In this paper, the overall development procedures are given including the optimal design, the dynamic modeling, the various control tests, and the main issues to be solved.

  • In this paper, the frequency response separation scheme is proposed for high scanning speed and simple structure of non-contact type of AFM. A self-sensing cantilever is attached on the actuator for detect the atomic force between tip and the media surface. VCM or PZT are used for actuator. This paper presents the method to simplify the actuator structure and the performance of each actuator for non-contact type AFM. Based on the frequency response separation scheme, the only one actuator plays roles 1311owing low frequency surface and modulating self-sensing cantilever tip in contrast with convention non-contact type AFM. 10 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ standard grid sample imaged to verify proposed scheme. This result shows the possibility simplifying the actuator structure and reducing cost of non-contact type AFM.

  • In this research, we have developed a load/unload device capable of correcting the position automatically. Characteristic technologies such as compensation, control, guidance and communication have been modified and implemented on an existing electromagnetic guided AGV, helping to realize open system and distributed cooperation. We have applied the developed AGV with remote control and heterogeneous load/unload mechanisms in a machining system composed of various equipment such as machining centers, CMN and AS/RS and found that the AGV provided position error within $\pm$2mm.

  • Dynamic Characteristics of two different types of ER(electro-rheological)mounts ; flow and shear mode types are analyzed and compared. As a first step, field-dependent Bingham models of a chemically treated starch/silicone oil-based ER fluid are empirically identified under both flow and shear mode conditions. The models are them incorporated to the governing equation of the corresponding mode ER mount. For the reasonable comparison between two ER mounts, electrode parameters such as electrode gap are designed to be same. Dynamic stiffness and displacement transmissibility of each ER mount are evaluated in frequency domain with respect to the intensity of electric filed. In addition, vibration control capability of each ER mount is investigated in both frequency and time domains by employing the skyhook controller.

  • Measurement of network traffic have shown that the self-similarity is a ubiquitous phenomenon spanning across diverse network environments. In previous work, we have explored the feasibility of exploiting the long-range correlation structure in a self-similar traffic for the congestion control. we show that a multiple time scale TCP endows the underlying feedback control with proactivity by bridging the uncertainty gap associated with reactive controls which is exacerbated by the high delay-bandwidth product in broadband wide area networks. Third, we investigate the influence of the three traffic control dimensions-tracking ability, connection duration, and fairness-on performance.

  • Microstrip antennas generally have a lot of advantages that are thin profile, lightweight, low cost, and conformability to a shaped surface application with integrated circuitry. In addition to military applications, they have become attractive candidates in a variety of commercial applications such as mobile satellite communications, the direct broadcast system (DBS), global positioning system (GPS), and remote sensing. Recently, many of the researches have been achieved for improving the impedance bandwidth of microstrip antennas. The basic form of the microstrip antenna, consisting of a conducting patch printed on a grounded substrate, has an impedance bandwidth of $1\~2\%$. For improvement of narrow bandwidth of microstrip patch, we were designed U-slot microstrip patch antenna in this paper. This antenna had wide bandwidth for all personal communication services (PCS) and IMT-2000. For the design of U-slot microstrip patch antenna using a finite difference time domain(FDTD) method. This numerical method could get the frequency property of U-slot patch antenna and the electromagnetic fields of slots.

  • A lot of robot trajectory tracking methods are proposed to enhance the tracking error, but irregular tracking errors are always accompanied and very hard to reduce it. Up to now, these irregular tracking errors are reduced by introducing more complicated control algorithms. But, it is intuitively obvious to reduce only the big errors selectively in the irregular ones for the better performance instead of using more complicated control algorithms. By the characteristics of the robot, big tracking errors of the end-effector are generated mostly due to the fast moving of joint. So, in this paper, we introduce a new method which reduce the big tracking errors by clippings the joint velocity with the constraint of given path. Using this method, desired trajectory tracking is obtained within the far reduced error bound. Also, this method is successfully applied to generate the path-constrained error reducing trajectories for 2-axis SCARA type robot.

  • Being controlled by a pole placement, levitation system should need many sensors such as measure air-gap, velocity, acceleration, and so on. However, these sensors have observational errors by changed temperature. This paper proposed a output compensated command tracking controller for reducing the error and reducing sensors. Simulation results will be provided to show the validity of the proposed scheme.

  • In this paper, an active magnetic bearing-based motor-generator(M-G) system is designed and controlled using a digital PID control concept. The plant dynamics consisting of actuator and rigid rotor dynamics are described. And some experiments are conducted with each global control and local control concept. From the whirl test, the M-G set can be controlled within about ${\pm}10{\mu}m$ gap variation at the rotational speed of 6000rpm.

  • 광결정(Photonic crystals)은 유전체를 주기적으로 배치한 구조인데, 이런 구조에 의해 1차원, 2차원, 또는 3차원적으로 빛을 제어할 수 있다. [1] 이런 주기적인 구조로 인해 광결정 내에서는 특정에너지와 특정 방향을 가진 빛이 진행하지 못하는 광밴드 갭(photonic band gap)뿐만 아니라 밴드구조와 밀접한 관계가 있는 비정상적인 광분산이 나타나기도 한다. 이러한 비정상적인 광분산에는 입사빔의 미세한 파장변화에 따른 PC내에서의 급격한 빛의 꺾임이나, 단일 파장의 입사빔이 두갈래로 갈라지는 현상, 또는 negative나 1보다 작은 굴절효과 등이 있는데, 이러한 현상을 해석하기 위한 것으로 광결정내의 고정된 진동수에 해당하는 점들을 2차원 k공간에서 표시한 분산곡선(dispersion surface)이 도입되었다.
