즉발감마선 계측에 의한 고순도 알루미늄중의 붕소정량에 관한 연구 (A Study of Boron Determination in High Purity Aluminum by Capture Gamma-Ray Measurement)

  • 중성자포획 감마선 방사화분석법을 이용하여 원자로급 알루미늄중 붕소를 분석하였다. 실험에 의한 검출한계는 10% 불확실도의 경우 5.7ppm 이었다. 함량이 더욱 미량인 경우를 위하여 양이온 교환수지를 이용하며 알루미늄으로 부터 붕소를 사전분리하는 농축법을 개발하였다. 이 두 방법 즉 직접 측정하는 방법과 농축후 측정하는 두가지 방법의 정확도를 첨가법으로 조사하였다. 그 결과 5% 편차 이내에서 잘 일치하였다.

A technique for the reduction of pulse pile-up effect in pulse-shape discrimination of organic scintillation detectors

  • A technique for the reduction of pulse pile-up effect in digital pulse-shape discrimination (PSD) of neutrons and gamma-rays with organic scintillation detectors is presented. The technique is based on an electronic reduction of the effective decay-time constant of scintillation pulses while retaining the PSD information of the pulses. The experimental results obtained with a NE213 liquid scintillation detector in a mixed radiation field of neutrons and gamma-rays are presented, demonstrating a figure of merit (FOM) of 1.20 ± 0.05 with an energy threshold of 350 keVee (electron equivalent energy) when the effective length of the pulses is reduced to 50 ns.

네모파 전압전류법에 의한 텔루륨(Ⅳ) 정량

  • Tellurium(Ⅳ)에 대한 네모파 전압전류법적 연구를 HMDE를 사용하여 염산 용액에서 수행하였다. 염산 용액중에서 Tellurium(Ⅳ)의 환원반응은 산에 의한 촉매반응의 특징을 나타내는 비가역적인 과정으로 진행됨을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 또한 네모파 전압전류법에 의한 Tellurium(Ⅳ)의 분석 조건 및 방해이온들에 대하여 검토하였다. 이 방법에 의한 Tellurium(Ⅳ)의 검출한계는 $4.2\;ppb (3.3{\tiems}10^{-8}M)$이었으며, 전극표면에서의 4.2 Tellurium(Ⅳ)의 양은 ${\Gamma}=(7.2{\pm}1.4){\times}10^{-11}\;mol\;cm^{-2}$이었다.

A Study of Optical Follow-up Pipeline for Gravitational-Wave transients using QUEST data

  • The direct detection of gravitational wave has a very important meaning as a basis for verification of the theory of relativity. Several laser interferometer detectors have attempted to detect GW directly (e.g. LIGO, VIRGO), but positional accuracy of GW detector is too wide (about 10~100sq deg) to find which objects emit GW. One of the main sources of GW is gamma-ray burst which can be detected even in electromagnetic wave. Then to verify Gamma-ray burst object as a GW source, we proceed EM follow-up observation with wide field of view. A first program initiating EM follow-ups to possible transients GW events has been developed and exercised by LIGO and VIRGO community in association with several partners. Using QUEST optical data, we tested the method of cross-convolution recommended by EM follow-up community. We will describe the results of that test.

Long term activity measurement of the primary circuit water on the LVR-15 research reactor

  • Activity measurement of the primary circuit water of fission reactors is one method that can provide early detection of a damaged fuel assembly in the reactor core. This is an important aspect in the safe operation of the reactor and for radiation protection of staff. Radionuclides in the primary circuit water are produced by the activation of stable nuclides and the fission of fissile nuclides, mainly the isotope 235U. In the LVR-15 research reactor, measurement of the activity of the primary circuit water has been regularly undertaken since 1996. A water sample is taken from the primary circuit every week and the activities are measured four days later using gamma spectrometry. The results of these long-term measurements from 1996 to 2022 are presented. The activity time dependences of the individual radionuclides are discussed in relation to fuel assembly damage and for events connected to contamination of the water by objects inserted into the primary circuit during experiments carried out near the reactor core.

Point Mutations in the Split PLC-γ1 PH Domain Modulate Phosphoinositide Binding

  • A number of signaling molecules contain small pleckstrin homology (PH) domains capable of binding phosphoinositides or proteins. Phospholipase C (PLC)-${\gamma}1$ has two putative PH domains, an $NH_2$-terminal (PH1) and a split PH domain ($nPH_2$ and $cPH_2$). We previously reported that the split PH domain of PLC-${\gamma}1$ binds to phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate (PI(4)P) and phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PI(4,5)$P_2$) (Chang et al., 2002). To identify the amino acid residues responsible for binding with PI(4)P and PI(4,5)$P_2$, we used site-directed mutagenesis to replace each amino acid in the variable loop-1 (VL-1) region of the PLC-${\gamma}1$ $nPH_2$ domain with alanine (a neutral amino acid). The phosphoinositide-binding affinity of these mutant molecules was analyzed by Dot-blot assay followed by ECL detection. We found that two PLC-${\gamma}1$ nPH2 domain mutants, P500A and H503A, showed reduced affinities for phosphoinositide binding. Furthermore, these mutant PLC-${\gamma}1$ molecules showed reduced PI(4,5)$P_2$ hydrolysis. Using green fluorescent protein (GFP) fusion protein system, we showed that both $PH_1$ and $nPH_2$ domains are responsible for membrane-targeted translocation of PLC-${\gamma}1$ upon serum stimulation. Together, our data reveal that the amino acid residues $Pro^{500}$ and $His^{503}$ are critical for binding of PLC-${\gamma}1$ to one of its substrates, PI(4,5)$P_2$ in the membrane.

Thermoluminescence 측정에 의한 감자와 마늘의 방사선 조사유무 확인 (Detection of Irradiated Potato and Garlic by Thermoluminescence Measurement)

  • 발아억제 선량범위인 0.15 kGy와 0.30 kGy의 감마선과 전자선이 조사된 감자와 마늘을 대상으로 thermoluminescence (TL) 측정에 의해 방사선 조사유무를 확인하였다. 감자와 마늘로부터mineral을 추출하여 TL 측정을 함으로써 방사선 조사선량과 TL intensity 간의 높은 상관관계를 확인하였다. 방사선 조사되지 않은 시료들은 특이한 TL glowcurve를 나타내지 않았으나 방사선 조사된 시료들은 $200{\sim}260^{\circ}C$부근에서 명확한 TL glowcurve를 나타내었다. 시료의 TL intensity는 조사선량에 따라 증가하였으나 같은 조사선량에서도 방사선 조사선원에 따라 시료의 TL intensity는 일정하지 않았다. 그러나 이상의 결과에서 볼 때 발아억제를 위한 감자와 마늘의 방사선 조사는 TL glowcurve의 측정으로써 조사유무의 확인이 가능하였다.

환경방사능 측정에서의 검출한계치의 정량적 고찰 및 최소검출방사능 농도 계산 (Determination of Minimum Detectable Activity in Environmental Samples)

  • 본 논문에서는 저준위 환경방사능 측정시 이용되는 검출한계에 대한 기본개념 및 수식을 통계학적 이론을 기초로 서술하였다. 방사능을 정확하게 검출할 신뢰도를 95%로 설정하여 알파 베타 및 감마선 측정기에 대한 검출한계치값을 계산하였다. 또한 환경 방사능 계측에 많이 사용되는 방사능 핵종에 대해 최소 검출 방사능 농도값을 검출한계치 개념을 근거로 계산하여 저준위 환경 방사능 분석시 환경방사능 측정결과에 대한 신뢰도 평가에 활용 가능 하도록 하였다.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a method by which the sensitivity of radionuclide liver imaging for detection of liver cirrhosis could be enhanced. Dynamic blood flow scan were performed 21 cases of liver cirrhosis patients by using computerized gamma camera named arterialization index. The results were as follows: 1) Arterialization index were higher in liver cirrhosis comparing to normal value 0.33 and its mean is 2. 02. 2) Comparing to static liver scan, higher sensitivity in dynamic hepatic blood flow scan for detection of liver cirrhosis. Sensitivity for detection of liver cirrhosis is over 90%. 3) There are no correlation between arterialization index and serum albumin level. The use of hepatic dynamic blood flow scan proved effective in detection of liver cirrhosis. However, the test may be used as an aid in distinguishing between normal and pathologic livers.

Viscometric and Pulsed Photostimulated Luminescence Properties of Irradiated Glutinous Rice

  • This study was carried out to establish a method for the detection of irradiated glutinous rice by measuring pulsed photostimulated luminescence (PPSL) and viscometric properties. Viscosity was determined using a Brookfield DV-III rotation viscometer at 3$0^{\circ}C$ and measured at 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180, and 210 rpm. All irradiated samples indicated a decrease in viscosity with increasing stirring speeds (rpm) and irradiation doses. Treatments with 2∼5 kGy significantly decreased the viscosity. The photon counts of the irradiated glutinous rice were measured by PPSL and the photon counts of the non-irradiated and irradiated glutinous rice measured immediately after irradiation exhibited an increase with increasing irradiation dose. The photon counts of irradiated glutinous rice almost disappeared with the lapse of time when stored under normal room conditions, but was still possible to detect after 12 months of darkroom storage. Consequently, these results indicate that the detection of irradiated glutinous rice is possible by both viscometric and PPSL methods.
