  • In CCTV environments, a lot of learning image data is required to monitor illegal dumping of garbage with a typical image-based object detection using deep learning method. In this paper, we propose a system to monitor unauthorized dumping of garbage by learning the articular points of the person using only a small number of images without immediate use of the image for deep learning. In experiment, the proposed system showed 74.97% of garbage dumping detection performance with only a relatively small amount of image data in CCTV environments.

  • We propose a feature map method to detect a collision for a motion-based game. The feature map can be made an optimally reduced motion data using subtraction image and virtual ball images according to image size and condition. And we calculate the overlapped ratio between moving image data and objects. This ratio is an invariant for detection even though image size is changed. And we compare this ration with collision detection constant, the feature map can detect fast collisions as well as the collided direction. To evaluate the method, we implemented a motion-base game that consists of a web cam, a player, an enemy, and some virtual balls, and we obtained some valid results for our method for the collision detection. The results demonstrated that the proposed approach is robust, and they can be used as a basic collide detection algorithm for a motion-based game where the size and the position of characters are continuously changing.

  • Research on the visual narrative impact of Unreal Engine's Lumen lighting system in games aims to delve into how Lumen's lighting technology plays a crucial role in game design and gameplay experience, thereby enhancing the visual storytelling of games. Lumen, Unreal Engine's dynamic global illumination solution, calculates lighting and shadows in real-time during gameplay, creating a more realistic and immersive environment. Analysis indicates that Lumen technology not only provides visually realistic and dynamic lighting effects but also significantly enriches the expressiveness and immersion of the game narrative through its changes in light and shadow.

  • Game industry, which has grown without government promotion policies, has been affected by the government's various industrial and social policies. Through the survey of experts from academics, media and industry on game industry, the paper attempted to evaluate and analyze the policies by the ministry of culture, tourism and sports, in charge of game industry. Result using SPSS showed that the scores on all the factors were low, especially 'policy on game image improvement ' is the lowest to 1.97. ANOVA test showed no difference except 'industrial ecosystem recovery' and 'human resources development'.

  • There have been many trials for development of games using augmented reality. This paper presents a 2D puzzle game system using HSV color space to detect hand posture from an input image by smart device's cameras in real time. The developed game in this paper brings smart devices and the computer vision closer. Also this game can be a new interactive technology utilizing both the mobility of smart devices and the tangible interactivity of virtual reality in education and entertainment environments.

  • Microsoft released motion sensing device named Kinnect on early 2010, which is available for developing Xbox 360 game and entertainment software. Also many third party libraries and applications are developed for Kinnect. In this paper, we studied and developed guitar rhythm game on Kinnect using three sensor units on it. Rhythm game is the most popular game genre for many game devices including PC, console device, and smart phone. The main reasons for their popularity depends on their simplicity, short learning time and physical activity with rhythms. We developed the game screen and layout on DirectX 11, also we used OpenNI library for recognize physical activity of gamer's body and fingers, and OpenGL for body gestures on the game.

  • In spherical panoramic images, SURF, a feature description method for planar patterns, does not work correctly due to heavy spherical distortion. Since a plane pattern is distorted in a spherical image, the pattern search and replacement in a spherical panoramic image should be treated differently from the case of the planar image. This paper proposes a planar texture replacement method, which transforms a spherical panoramic image into a cubemap panoramic image, searches a pattern using SURF, replaces a plane pattern, and then converts it into a spherical panoramic image.

  • Recently, as one method of the game manipulation, physical interactive game is increasing, which controls the program by direct human movement. Tangible interface for physical interactive game implementation can control virtual model directly through real world object. A digital desk, one of the tangible interface, offers the interface that human can manipulate virtual object directly, by making projection screen on real world desk as computer display device. In this paper, we implement "Battle Region" game in the form of tangible interface, which can offer game users an efficient and amusing experiences by the use of physical interactive game. Traditional game cannot pursuit the diversity of game background contents but our game can do it through Map image projection. From this, game provider can supply the diversity of choice and users ran set up the difficulty of game. Therefore, our implemented game can offer users an efficient and amusing experiences by making game user's challenge and satisfaction maximum.

  • The purpose of this study is to apply fashion design to developing dress design of mobile-phone game characters. As for the research methodology, first, market research has been carried out to extract main images from dress designs of game characters and to understand their socio-cultural meanings. Second, the fashion design, which ran be compared to the extracted images of game characters were selected. Third, analyses were done to find out the gap between the game character's dress designs and the fashion designs. The main images of game characters are revealed as erotic, romantic, heroic, grotesque. These images have been formed by psychological and socio-cultural effects such as stimulation, empathy, compensation, increase of female game player. The differences between the game character's dresses and the fashion designs are as follows; With regard to style, game dresses have silhouette distinguished from background, but fashion collection have blurred silhouette. In the aspect of color, while strong colors are mainly used in game dress, neutral rotors are preferred in fashion collection. As for texture, the expression of 'textures in game character's dress is so far limited due to the insufficient level of the concerned technology. However, the fashion design applying drape of fabrics are well-developed. Mobile-phone game players want reality in game design. Therefore, the effort to overcome the gaps between game dress and fashion design can contribute to the growth of game character design.

  • As a field in Digital Arts, interactive video introduced the mirror metaphor to the foundation of media, given its characteristic as a medium that extracts an audience image in a particular perspective. The interactive video work introduced in this paper addresses conceptual topics in the extension of Zhuangzi's Butterfly Dream and illustrates the technological approaches that employ an intensity-based computer vision processing in order to obtain the silhouette of audience for multiple graphical butterflies to draw an audience image. Users generate narratives in the interaction with the projected image. Sound is used in order for the system to provide augmented perception in the space and to add more rooms for narratives. The computer vision and the graphics methods introduced in this paper are suggested as tools for interactive video.
