  • This paper is discribed to the application of PID controller for the frequency control of power systems. The proposed optimal PID controller is designed to obtain gain Parameters of P,I,D's coefficients according to optimization technique using the relatively ingeneous simplex method. The PID controller which is applied to one area, tie-line two area with(or without) exciter is showed good performance rather than that of optimal Pl controllor.

  • A horn antenna having dual-band and dualpolarization operation is proposed. To implement a small-sized structure providing circular polarizations in the Ka- and K-band, the antenna is designed by using the horn radiator on the basis of a conical helix which is exited by two ports for TX and RX in both ends. Through a design optimization process, a compactdual-band and dual-polarized horn antenna having high gain and high isolation performance was realized.

  • In this paper, a quasi-deadbeat minimax estimation (QME) is proposed as a new class of time-domain parameter estimations for deterministic generic linear models. Linearity, quasi-deadbeat property, FIR structure, and independency of the initial parameter information will be required in advance, in addition to a new performance criterion of a worst case gain between the disturbances and the current estimation error. The proposed QME is obtained in a closed form by directly solving an optimization problem. The QME is represented in both a batch form and an iterative form.   • Althouah there have been many attempts to control weld quality in resistance spot welding processes, design method for an on-line feedback controller based upon process dynamics has not been suggested. This is due to the fact that the resistance spot welding is a highly complicated process, whice involves the interaction of electrical, thermal, mechanical and metallurgical phenomena. In this paper, an optimal control method based on FDM model with shunt effect is presented, which can regulate the nugget size, at the same time minimizing the control heat input. Optimal PI gain of the controller were determined by numerical optimization. Simulation results show that, as a result of the proposed optimal control, the weld nugget can be made to approach a desired nugget size with less control heat input than that required for the conventional spot welding process in the face of the shunt effect.

  • The majority of previous studios on tolerance synthesis have viewed the issue as a design methodology to determine optimal component tolerances on behalf of a manufacturer. while meeting given assembly tolerance requirements Although a considerable amount of research has been done on this issue. a couple of important questions still remain unanswered First. how ran a design engineer quantitatively incorporate a customer's perception on a product quality into a tolerance synthesis scheme at the early design stage Second. how ran component tolerances and assembly tolerance be optimized in a simultaneous way? To answer these questions. this article presents the customer-driven concurrent tolerance synthesis which is facilitated by the notion of truncated distribution and the use of mathematical programming techniques. while adopting the major principles of Tagurhl philosophy. The work presented in the article is an effort to gain insight, which can be useful in practice when setting up guidelines for an overall tolerance synthesis.

  • A technique for determining the feedback gain of the states feedback controller using a real-coded genetic algorithm(RCGA) is presented. It is concerned with the states error to the performance index of a RCGA. As for assessing the performance of the controller three performance criteria (ISE. IAE and ITAE) are adopted. And designing the controller involves a constrained optimization problem. Therefore a real-coded genetic algorithm incorporating the penalty strategy is used. The performance of the proposed method is demonstrated through a set of simulation about an inverted pendulum system.

  • This paper tackles the problem of designing a dynamic output-feedback control for linear discrete-time norm-bounded uncertain systems with input saturation. By employing a LPV (Linear Parameter Varying) instead of LTI (Linear Time-Invariant) control, the useful information on interpolation parameters appearing in the procedure of representing saturation nonlinearity as a convex polytope is additionally applied in the control design procedure. By solving the addressed problem that can be recast into a convex optimization problem characterized by LMIs (Linear Matrix Inequalities) with one prescribed scalar, the vertices of convex set containing an LPV output-feedback control gain and the associated maximal invariant set of initial states are simultaneously obtained.

  • A local suboptimal controller with low sensitivity property is studied for a case of large scale systems. More specifically, necessary conditions for the suboptomal gain matrices are obtained by a parameter optimization technique, from which a design method in the form of an algorithm is suggested. To show the validity of the result and, in particular, to appreciate the effect of adding the sensitivity function, a numerical example is included.

  • This paper presents a broadband microstrip antenna design with four U slots on the ground plane by using of genetic algorithm. FDTD method is used as fitness function for antenna analysis, and length of rectangular patch, length of ground plane slot, distance from center point to feed point is used as optimization parameter for maximum bandwidth and minimum size. The measurement result of implemented antenna present bandwidth of 15.63 % and peak gain of 3.61 dBi in the 2.445 GHz, and antenna has a reduced patch size of 54.8 % compare with normal microstrip antenna.

  • In this paper, we present a non-fragile guaranteed cost control design method for uncertain nonlinear systems with time varying delays in state and control input, even though the controller gain is perturbed. The uncertain nonlinear term in the systems is norm bounded and the linear matrix inequality(LMI) optimization method is employed as a stability analysis of the systems. We design a robust controller and show the asymptotical stability of uncertain time-varying systems based on Lyapunov method. Also, we guarantee a specific level of performance of the systems. The simulations are carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
