Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of health interventions using virtual reality (VR) on improving knowledge, attitudes, and skills; and inducing behavioral change among adolescents. Methods: This study is a systematic review and meta-analysis following PRISMA guidelines. We searched Cochrane, MEDLINE, Embase, CINAHL, Scopus, Web of Science, and Korean databases between database inception and April 10, 2021. Based on heterogeneity, a random- or fixed-effects model was used, as appropriate, to calculate effect sizes in terms of the standardized mean difference (SMD) and odds ratio (OR). Studies were selected if they verified the effects of health education using VR on adolescents; there was an appropriate control group; and if the effects of education were reported in terms of changes in knowledge, attitudes, skills, or behaviors. Results: This analysis included six studies (n = 1,086). The intervention groups showed greater responses in knowledge and attitudes (SMD = 0.57, 95% confidence interval (CI) [0.12 to 1.02]), skills related to health behavior (SMD = - 0.45, 95% CI [- 0.71 to - 0.19]), and behavioral change after 12 months (OR = 2.36, 95% CI [1.03 to 5.41]). Conclusion: The results confirm the effectiveness of health interventions using virtual reality (VR). Although the analysis include a small number of studies, a case can be made for health interventions using VR to be utilized as educational methods and strategies to prevent risky behaviors among adolescents.
Purpose: The study examined disaster recognition, disaster preparedness, and the willingness to participate in disaster response among healthcare students. It also identified the factors that can improve healthcare students' willingness to participate in disaster response. Methods: A structured questionnaire was designed, and data were collected from 171 students, who agreed to participate in the study at C-province between December 14, 2022, and December 28, 2022. Results: The scores of disaster preparedness and the willingness to participate in disaster response were 3.22 and 3.53, respectively. The willingness to participate in disaster response was high among those who had experienced a disaster and had disaster-related education. Furthermore, the willingness to participate in disaster response was significantly and positively correlated with disaster preparedness (r = 1.357, p<.001). Conclusion: It is important to mandate the provision of disaster preparedness education to increase the level and quality of disaster preparedness and the willingness to participate in disaster response.
Objectives: This study aimed to study the association between unmet dental treatment and depression in the dental area of the elderly. Methods: The data was from the 7th period of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Multiple logistic regression analysis was performed to evaluate the relationship between depression and unmet dental treatment when confounding factors such as income quintile and smoking were considered. Statistical software, SAS 9.4 version was used. Results: After correcting all confounding factors, the analysis showed that the experience of unmet dental treatment was 2.73 times more likely among depressed men and 2.52 times more likely among depressed women (p<0.05). Conclusions: The results of this study suggested that we should consider that depression in the elderly can affect unmet dental treatment regardless of gender.

Skin-compatible electronics have evolved to achieve both conformality and stretchability for stable contact with deformable biological skin. While existing research has largely concentrated on alternative materials, the potential of Parylene-based thin-film electrodes for stretchable on-skin applications remains relatively untapped. This study proposes an engineering strategy to achieve stretchability using the Parylene thin-film electrode. Unlike the conventional Parylene thin-film electrode, we introduce morphological adaptability via controlled microscale slits in the Parylene electrode structure. The slits-containing device enables unprecedented stretchability while maintaining critical electrical insulation properties during mechanical deformation. Finally, the demonstration on human skin shows the mechanical adaptability of these Parylene-based bioelectrodes while their electrical characteristics remain stable during various stretching conditions. Owing to the ultra-thinness of the Parylene coating, the wearable bioelectrode not only achieves stretchability but also conforms to the skin. Our findings broaden the practical use of Parylene thin-film bioelectrodes.
The integration of bioelectronic devices with the skin is a promising strategy for personalized healthcare monitoring and diagnostics. On-skin bioelectrodes hold great potential for the real-time tracking of physiological parameters. However, persistent challenges of stability and reliability have instigated exploration beyond conventional noble metals. This study focuses on the ionic passivation and oxidation dynamics of copper-based on-skin thin-film bioelectrodes. Through parylene chemical vapor deposition, we harness a controlled thin film of parylene insulation to counter the intrinsic susceptibility of copper to oxidation in the ionic environment. The results represent the relationship among the parylene insulation thickness, copper oxidation, and electrode impedance over temporal intervals. Comparative analyses indicate that the short-term stability of the copper electrode is comparable to that of the gold electrode. Therefore, we propose a cost-effective strategy for fabricating copper-based on-skin bioelectrodes by introducing enhanced ionic stability within a discernible operational timeframe. This study enriches our understanding of on-skin bioelectronics and affordable material choices for practical use in wearable healthcare devices.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: This study aims to explore the potential of convenience stores as platforms for healthy food consumption, including low-sodium options, in response to the increasing trend of meal behaviors at convenience stores and the growing demand for healthy eating. SUBJECTS/METHODS: In the study, 627 Korean participants aged 10 to 39 were involved. A self-reported questionnaire survey was used and questions were regarding purchase patterns, consumption behaviors, perceptions and selection attributes of convenience store foods, and consumer perception factors for low-sodium options. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS 26.0 (SPSS, Version 26.0 for Windows, SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). RESULTS: The study uncovered significant disparities in the consumption behavior and perception of convenience store foods, as well as variations in the importance and satisfaction levels with convenience store food attributes, including consumer perception factors for low-sodium options, based on sex and age. Furthermore, it was observed that awareness of the need for low-sodium options significantly influenced purchase intentions. CONCLUSION: This study analyzed consumer attitude toward low-sodium convenience store foods to assess the potentiality for promoting healthy eating in convenience stores. These findings indicate the important role that convenience stores can play as platforms for healthy food sales.

This research explores consumer preferences for materials in different clothing product categories, using web-crawling and text mining techniques. Specifically, the study focuses on the material-related terms found in consumer reviews across three distinct product categories: functional clothing, formal shirts, and knit sweaters. Top-selling products within each category were identified on the Naver Shopping website based on the volume of reviews, and the four most-reviewed products were selected. Six hundred reviews per product were analyzed using the Textom big-data analysis software to determine the frequency of material-related mentions and word associations. The analysis utilized two comparative metrics: product category and usage duration. Our findings reveal notable variations in the material preferences mentioned by consumers across different product categories. The study suggests a need to re-evaluate existing standardized review criteria to better reflect consumer interests specific to each product category. Additionally, an increase in material-related terms in reviews over one month indicates the potential importance of extending the duration of product reviews to enhance the accuracy of information that reflects longer-term consumer experiences with material quality.

Science education in elementary school is mostly based on solving investigative tasks conducted by small groups on the basis of the inquiry activities such as experiments, observations, etc. Students should be able to draw conclusions from experiments and observations through their collaborative interactions by exchanging ideas. If learners use the advantages of Blended-Learning as a new pedagogical method comprehending merits of both off-line and on-line learning to complement off-line activities throughout the entire process, the interactions among them may be reinforced, and they would take part in the inquiry learning more actively. Accordingly, the proposed system can help children foster science inquiry learning effectively by using on-line communication facilities to arrange learners' diverse opinions and thoughts coming from off-line inquiry activity process. The result shows that the system enhanced learners' interest about science inquiry learning and improved their learning achievements by exchanging diverse opinions via the Web communication facilities.
