A Study on Evaluating Serviceability of Rewards App - Designed around elements of GUI - (리워드 앱의 사용성 평가에 관한 연구 - GUI디자인 요소를 중심으로 -)

  • 현재 리워드 앱은 스마트폰을 이용해 부가적인 혜택을 누릴 수 있는 인기 앱 서비스로 지속적인 성장과 함께 서비스의 범위가 확대되고 있어 사용성을 고려한 디자인의 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구는 리워드 앱 상위 4개를 사용자경험을 바탕으로 한 GUI디자인의 사용성 평가를 디자인전공자 30명의 설문으로 진행하였다. 리워드 앱 GUI구성요소에 따른 사용성 평가 결과는 5점 만점에 '캐시슬라이드' 3.97로 가장 높고, '허니스크린' 3.18, '넥슨플레이' 3.07, '라떼스크린'2.9 순으로 나타났다. 본 연구가 향 후 경쟁력있는 리워드 앱의 GUI요소 개발에 도움이 되기를 기대한다.

A Study on Transformation of iOS GUI Design in the view of Affordance (iOS GUI 디자인의 변화에 대한 어포던스 관점의 고찰)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the transformation of affordance in iOS GUI design and the relationship of affordances. We figured out variety kinds of Affordance concepts and choosed six Affordances(Visceral, Behavioral, Reflective, Explicit, Metaphorical, Pattern Affordance) Based on the previous studies. The result of investigating the transformation of iOS GUI design which based on the viewpoint of these 6 Affordance we have chosen is as follows. Firstly, the Visceral Affordance of iOS GUI design has already sufficiently become to the Reflective Affordance. So we can ignore or ellipsis the Visceral Affordance and the addition of specific Explicit Affordance can be possible. Secondly, due to the use experience of iOS, Behavioral Affordance and Pattern Affordance have already become to a kind of Reflective Affordance. Through this evolution, new kind of Pattern Affordance is formed. At the mean time, it also applied the basic field of Metaphorical Affordance. Thirdly, investigating the Flat Design of iOS based on the viewpoint of Affordance, we have figured out that Visceral Affordance has been reduced. So that the constrains of visual performance has also been reduced. This is the reason that there are more space remained in screen layout design, the color has become more natural and more Explicit Affordance has been provided, ect. Futhermore, in this thesis we have also figured out that there are some interactions and relationships between each Affordance. With the development of iOS, some Affordances have transformed to other Affordances. With the accumulation of use experience, Visceral Affordance has transformed to Reflective Affordance based on the field of Metaphorical Affordance. With the disappearance or reduction of Visceral Affordance, iOS provide Explicit Affordance instead. As a result of this kind of process, a new Pattern Affordance has been formed.

A research on the emotion GUI design of touch mobile for Grooming user by using a multidimensional standard analysis (다차원 척도 분석법을 통한 Grooming 사용자의 터치폰 감성 GUI 디자인에 대한 연구)

  • This study is to establish GUI (graphic user interface) in mobile touch phone for grooming user by using two dimensional emotion model determined by multi-dimensional scale method. The processes conducted in the research were as the followings: First of all, visceral, behavioral, and reflective factors of emotion (Norman, 2002) was defined from investigating the life styles of the Grooming users. Secondly, factor analysis was performed to extract the representative emotional words. In the third step, they were mapped into the two-dimensional emotion model through multi-dimensional scaling. Finally, the mapped emotional words were tried to be related to GUI factors of touch phones and normalizing their relation degree between 0 and 1. This study determined GUI factors significantly related to representative emotions described as special, self-centered, sophisticated, free, passionate, neat for application to mobile touch phone. This study determined the major emotion factors that should be considered the most important while designing the GUI factors.

  • The development of science was crucial to recent advancements in design such as digital contents, UI, GUI, UX design. Not until the DOS evolved into Windows OS were many kinds of digital media design created, namely due to the invention of the computer mouse. A necessary element of mobile phones and Window OS is icons, since icons act as visual symbols, touch buttons and gateways into software content. Icons have undergone many stages of development simultaneously with developments in digital science. We can observe changes in mobile icon design from Skeuomorphism Design to Minimalism to Flat Design. These changes were caused by macro-level trends in design across all other industries. Apple iPhone's Skeuomorphism Design of 2013 evolved into IOS7's Minimalism and Flat Design of 2014. In the mobile world, flat design will again create big changes in design. This research aims to contribute to basic research data of GUI design that are used by creators of mobile apps to understand and anticipate future trends.

  • As the cconvenience economy of food culture becomes more widespread and the consumption trends for easy and convenient meals grew, every food company is making their various efforts to provide better service. Along with this change, various methods have been allowed for quick and easy ordering. Especially, the introduction of kiosk systems with various merits such as reduction of queues for cashes, saving labor costs, and smoothness of business processes have been actively growing recently. If kiosk system provides not only order but also systematic contents and interface design considering differentiated identity from other companies, brand image enhancement and customer service strategy would be available as well. A kiosk GUI design for effective interactions that provides more usability and satisfaction to users by analyzing the structure and contents of kiosks in fast food stores and GUI designs and investigating usage patterns and design preferences of kiosks through user surveys.

FDM Full Color 3D Printer GUI Design Development of Checklist for Usability (FDM 풀 컬러 3D프린터 GUI디자인 사용성을 위한 체크리스트 개발)

  • With the recent development of 3D printers, there is a growing need to make them similar to real products. As a result, FDM full-color 3D printers have been developed and actively distributed, but GUI design has fallen short of that, causing confusion among users. Accordingly, this study conducted a literature survey, and through a case study, the current status of FDM full-color 3D printers was identified and the components of GUI design were analyzed based on prior research. The draft checklist was drawn up according to the components of the derived GUI design, and 24 items were deleted through the three Delphi surveys and the validity of the remaining 26 items was verified. As a result, the layout should consist of intuitive screen configuration and menus with high frequency of use, and the text should be intuitive and clearly communicated. In addition, the icon should be placed in a visible position and used in real life to image it. Finally, we could see that the color should be used to give feedback to the user using the highlight color and not overlap the output.
