Support Vector Machine and Spectral Angle Mapper Classifications of High Resolution Hyper Spectral Aerial Image

  • This paper presents two different types of supervised classifiers such as support vector machine (SVM) and spectral angle mapper (SAM). The Compact Airborne Spectrographic Imager (CASI) high resolution aerial image was classified with the above two classifier. The image was classified into eight land use /land cover classes. Accuracy assessment and Kappa statistics were estimated for SVM and SAM separately. The overall classification accuracy and Kappa statistics value of the SAM were 69.0% and 0.62 respectively, which were higher than those of SVM (62.5%, 0.54).

GRS-RW 보강토벽체 공법의 준3차원 안정해석 (Quasi-Three Dimensional Stability Analysis of the Geosynthetic-Reinforced Soil Retaining Wall System)

  • 본 연구에서는, GRS-RW 보강토벽체 공법에 대한 안정해석법의 체계화를 위해 3차원 예상파괴 흙쐐기를 가정하여, 직선부구간 뿐만 아니라 특히 편기각 보강재가 설치되는 곡선부 구간에 대해 적용 가능한 준3차원 안정성 평가기법의 제시가 이루어졌다. 아울러, 본 연구 제시 안정해석법에 의해 평가되는 작용토압합력을 다짐토압 분포형태로 가정하여, 1차원 유한요소해석을 이용한 전면 벽체의 변위예측기법을 제시하였다. 또한 제시된 전면벽체 변위예측기법의 타당성을 확인하기 위해, 캐나다의 RMC 및 미국의 FHWA에서 시행한 시험결과와 본 연구 제시기법에 의한 예측치를 서로 비교하였으며, 본 비교에는 기존의 보강토벽체 발생변위 평가방법인 Christopher등의 방법 및 Chew & Mitchell의 방법 등을 토대로 한 예측치도 추가 검토상의 목적으로 포함하였다. 또한 편기각 보강재가 설치되는 볼록형태 곡선부 구간에 대해서, 본 연구 예측치와 $FLAC_{3D}$프로그램 해석결 과와의 비교를 퉁해, 본 연구 변위예측기법의 신뢰성 검증이 추가로 이루어졌다. 이외에도, 본 연 구 제시 안정해석 법에 의해 평가되는 전면벽체의 작용토압합력을 깊이별 다짐토압 분포형태로 가정한 기법의 타당성 확인을 위해, FHWA에서 제시한 발생토압 측정결과와 서로 비교하였다. 아울러 다양한 관련 설계변수가 GRS-RW 보강토벽체의 안정성에 미치는 영향등을 분석하였다.

Interactions Between Genetic Risk Score and Healthy Plant Diet Index on Cardiometabolic Risk Factors Among Obese and Overweight Women

  • People with higher genetic predisposition to obesity are more susceptible to cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and healthy plant-based foods may be associated with reduced risks of obesity and other metabolic markers. We investigated whether healthy plant-foods-rich dietary patterns might have inverse associations with cardiometabolic risk factors in participants at genetically elevated risk of obesity. For this cross-sectional study, 377 obese and overweight women were chosen from health centers in Tehran, Iran. We calculated a healthy plant-based diet index (h-PDI) in which healthy plant foods received positive scores, and unhealthy plant and animal foods received reversed scores. A genetic risk score (GRS) was developed based on 3 polymorphisms. The interaction between GRS and h-PDI on cardiometabolic traits was analyzed using a generalized linear model (GLM). We found significant interactions between GRS and h-PDI on body mass index (BMI) (p = 0.02), body fat mass (p = 0.04), and waist circumference (p = 0.056). There were significant gene-diet interactions for healthful plant-derived diets and BMI-GRS on high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (p = 0.03), aspartate aminotransferase (p = 0.04), alanine transaminase (p = 0.05), insulin (p = 0.04), and plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (p = 0.002). Adherence to h-PDI was more strongly related to decreased levels of the aforementioned markers among participants in the second or top tertile of GRS than those with low GRS. These results highlight that following a plant-based dietary pattern considering genetics appears to be a protective factor against the risks of cardiometabolic abnormalities.

한국어판 Gifted Rating Scale의 구인타당도 (Construct Validity of Korean Translated Gifted Rating Scale)

  • 본 연구는 Pfeiffer와 Jarosewich(2003)에 의해서 개발된 Gifted Rating Scale(GRS)을 한국어로 번역한 한국어판 GRS의 구인타당도를 검증하고자 하였다. GRS는 교사의 평가에 의해서 아동의 영재성을 판별하는 척도로 미국 교육부의 영재성에 대한 정의에 기초하여 영재성의 6개 하위영역(지적 능력, 학업적 능력, 예술적 재능, 창의성, 지도력, 동기)을 측정하도록 개발되었다. 본 연구에서는 한국어판 GRS의 구인타당도 검증을 위하여 서울 경기 지역에 있는 5개 초등학교에서 자료를 수집하여 확인적 요인분석과 탐색적 요인분석을 실시하였다. 확인적 요인분석 결과 한국어판 교사용 GRS는 미국판 GRS와 동일한 요인구조를 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났으나 학부모용의 경우 미국판 GRS와 동일한 요인구조를 가지고 있다고 결론 내릴 수 없었다. 이러한 결과들은 한국어판 GRS 교사용의 타당도에 대한 근거를 제시해 주고 있으며, 한국 교육 현장에의 적용 가능성을 시사하고 있다.

유전 요인과 생활환경 요인의 상호작용이 제2형 당뇨병 발생에 미치는 영향: 한국인유전체역학 조사사업(KoGES) 자료를 이용하여 (Effects of gene-lifestyle environment interactions on type 2 diabetes mellitus development: an analysis using the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study data)

  • Purpose: This study focused on identifying the interaction effects of genetic and lifestyle-environmental factors on the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D). Methods: Study subjects were selected from the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study (KoGES) from 2001 to 2014. Data on genetic variations, anthropometric measurements, biochemical data, and seven lifestyle factors (diet, physical activity, alcohol drinking, smoking, sleep, depression, and stress) were obtained from 4,836 Koreans aged between 40 and 59 years, including those with T2D at baseline (n = 1,209), newly developed T2D (n= 1,298) and verified controls (n = 3,538). The genetic risk score (GRS) was calculated by using 11 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) related to T2D development and the second quartile was used as the reference category. A Cox proportional hazards regression model was used to evaluate the associations of GRS and lifestyle factors with T2D risk, controlling for covariates. Results: Multivariate regression analysis revealed that GRS was the strongest risk factor for T2D, and body mass index (BMI), smoking, drinking, and spicy food preference also increased the risk. Lifestyle/environmental factors that showed significant interactions with GRS were BMI, current smoking, current drinking, fatty food preference, and spicy food preference. Conclusions: Interactions between genetic factors and lifestyle/environmental factors were associated with an increased risk of T2D. The results will be useful to provide a new perspective on genetic profiling for the earlier detection of T2D risk and clues for personalized interventions, which might be more effective prevention strategies or therapies in individuals with a genetic predisposition to T2D.

Genetic Risk Prediction for Normal-Karyotype Acute Myeloid Leukemia Using Whole-Exome Sequencing

  • Normal-karyotype acute myeloid leukemia (NK-AML) is a highly malignant and cytogenetically heterogeneous hematologic cancer. We searched for somatic mutations from 10 pairs of tumor and normal cells by using a highly efficient and reliable analysis workflow for whole-exome sequencing data and performed association tests between the NK-AML and somatic mutations. We identified 21 nonsynonymous single nucleotide variants (SNVs) located in a coding region of 18 genes. Among them, the SNVs of three leukemia-related genes (MUC4, CNTNAP2, and GNAS) reported in previous studies were replicated in this study. We conducted stepwise genetic risk score (GRS) models composed of the NK-AML susceptible variants and evaluated the prediction accuracy of each GRS model by computing the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC). The GRS model that was composed of five SNVs (rs75156964, rs56213454, rs6604516, rs10888338, and rs2443878) showed 100% prediction accuracy, and the combined effect of the three reported genes was validated in the current study (AUC, 0.98; 95% confidence interval, 0.92 to 1.00). Further study with large sample sizes is warranted to validate the combined effect of these somatic point mutations, and the discovery of novel markers may provide an opportunity to develop novel diagnostic and therapeutic targets for NK-AML.

The Predictive Power of Multi-Factor Asset Pricing Models: Evidence from Pakistani Banks

  • This paper compares the performance of Fama-French three-factor and five-factor models using a dataset of 20 Pakistani commercial banks for the period 2011 to 2020. We focus on an emerging economy as the findings from earlier studies on developed countries cannot be generalized in emerging markets. For empirical analysis, twelve portfolios were developed based on size, market capitalization, investment strategy, and growth. Subsequently, we constructed five Fama-French factors namely, RM, SMB, HML, RMW, and CMA. The OLS regression technique with robust standard errors was applied to compare the predictive power of both the Fama-French models. Further, we also compared the mean-variance efficiency of the Fama-French models through the GRS test. Our empirical analysis provides three unique and interesting findings. First, both asset pricing models have similar predictive power to explain the expected portfolio returns in most cases. Second, our results from the GRS test suggest that there is no noticeable difference in the mean-variance efficiency of one asset pricing model over the other. Third, we find that all factors of both Fama-French models are statistically significant and are important for explaining the volatility of expected commercial bank returns in the context of Pakistan.

요통환자의 통증행위에 대한 조사연구 (The Pain Behavior of Patients with Back Pain)

  • The purposes of this study were; 1) to gather data relevant to demographic features. major main management practices, and the level of impairment of the activities of daily living (ADL) of patients with back pain, 2) to test the sensitivity of the Korean Pain Rating Scale and the Graphic Rating Scales, and 3) to identify indirect indicators of back pain by analysing pain related-behaviors. The level of pain was measured by Korean Pain Rating Scale(KPRS) and Graphic Rating Scales(GRS) developed by the reserchers. The GRS consists of two dimensions; the pain intensity (sensory) and unpleasantness (affective) measures. Of the 1,650 diagnosed back pain patients, from January 4 through June 30, 1987 by visiting outpatients' clinics of orthopedic and neurosurgical departments at 11 university hospitals in different districts of Korea, 330 men and women patients were self-selected by responding to the mailed questionnaires. The results were summarised as follows: Male exceeded female patients in number and onset of back pain were more prevalent in the age groups of 20s and the 30s. The average duration of suffering from the pain were 11 months, sixty three (19.1%) of the subjects retired from their jobs, one third(36.7%) have teen hospitalized for the treatment of back pain. In two thirds(64.8%) of the cases pain was characterized as lower back pain. The average sleep hour was 6.8 hours per 24 hours and the average rest hour during the day was 3.3 hours. The mean percentage of pain measured by GRS was higher than that of KPRS. The level of sensory intensity as well as the affective level of pain measured by KPRS and GRS were not highly correlated (sensory intensity r=0.4986, affective r=0.5029) which indicated low discriminative power. On the other hand, intercorrelation between sensory and affective dimension measured by KPRS and GRS showed moderate interrelation(r=0.7247; r=0.7899). One-third(32.5%) of the subjects complied with the hospital prescribed treatment while the other one-third(31.5%) depended on self-remedy and traditional practices, and the last one-third did not imply any pain management practices. The following 6 pain-related behaviors such as length of hospitalization, rest hour during day hours, varieties of pain management practice implied, number of pain sites, need for ADL and discomfort accompanied by ADL revealed to be important indicators of back pain. An investigation of sociodemographic features of patients with back pain in a larger context, i.e. with bigger number of respondents is recommended. Tests for construct validity of KPRS, i.e. factor analysis is further recommended.

경혈점에 적용한 자장요법이 여고생의 월경통에 미치는 효과 (Effect of Magnetic Field Therapy Applied to Acupuncture Point on Dysmenorrhea Experienced by High School Girls)

  • 본 연구는 경혈점에 적용한 자장요법이 여고생의 월경통에 미치는 효과를 파악하여 여고생들에게 효율적인 자가 간호 중재로써의 활용가능성을 검증하고자 시도된 무작위 할당 대조군 전후설계이다. 자료수집기간은 2006년 3월부터 4월까지로, 보건실을 방문한 여고생에게 실험 전, 설문지에 통증척도인 도표 평정 척도(Grapic Rating Scale, GRS)와 분만어휘 평정척도(Adjective Labor Pain Rating Scale, ALPRS)를 작성하게 한 뒤 각 군에게 직경 12mm, 두께 3mm의 원형 자석에 800~1200Gauss의 자력이 있는 의료용 자석을 3시간동안 적용하였다. 설문지는 각각 자석 적용 직후 3시간과 제거 후 3시간에 설문지인 GRS와 ALPRS를 작성하게 하였다. 연구결과 경혈점에 자장요법을 적용한 실험군은 적용하지 않은 대조군보다 월경통 GRS와 ALPRS가 유의하게 감소하였다. 이상의 결과로 경혈점에 적용한 자장요법이 여고생의 월경통에 통증경감에 효과가 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 따라서 비약물요법으로서의 월경통 완화를 위한 간호중재법으로 활용할 것을 기대한다. 또한 본 연구에서 ALPRS가 월경통에 대해 타당성이 제시되었으므로 추후 연구를 통해 ALPRS의 타당도 검증을 위한 반복 연구가 필요하다. 여고생들의 월경통 경감을 위한 보완대체요법으로 적용하게 될 것을 제언한다.

A Single-Center Experience of Robotic-Assisted Spine Surgery in Korea : Analysis of Screw Accuracy, Potential Risk Factor of Screw Malposition and Learning Curve

  • Objective : Recently, robotic-assisted spine surgery (RASS) has been considered a minimally invasive and relatively accurate method. In total, 495 robotic-assisted pedicle screw fixation (RAPSF) procedures were attempted on 100 patients during a 14-month period. The current study aimed to analyze the accuracy, potential risk factors, and learning curve of RAPSF. Methods : This retrospective study evaluated the position of RAPSF using the Gertzbein and Robbins scale (GRS). The accuracy was analyzed using the ratio of the clinically acceptable group (GRS grades A and B), the dissatisfying group (GRS grades C, D, and E), and the Surgical Evaluation Assistant program. The RAPSF was divided into the no-breached group (GRS grade A) and breached group (GRS grades B, C, D, and E), and the potential risk factors of RAPSF were evaluated. The learning curve was analyzed by changes in robot-used time per screw and the occurrence tendency of breached and failed screws according to case accumulation. Results : The clinically acceptable group in RAPSF was 98.12%. In the analysis using the Surgical Evaluation Assistant program, the tip offset was 2.37±1.89 mm, the tail offset was 3.09±1.90 mm, and the angular offset was 3.72°±2.72°. In the analysis of potential risk factors, the difference in screw fixation level (p=0.009) and segmental distance between the tracker and the instrumented level (p=0.001) between the no-breached and breached group were statistically significant, but not for the other factors. The mean difference between the no-breach and breach groups was statistically significant in terms of pedicle width (p<0.001) and tail offset (p=0.042). In the learning curve analysis, the occurrence of breached and failed screws and the robot-used time per screw screws showed a significant decreasing trend. Conclusion : In the current study, RAPSF was highly accurate and the specific potential risk factors were not identified. However, pedicle width was presumed to be related to breached screw. Meanwhile, the robot-used time per screw and the incidence of breached and failed screws decreased with the learning curve.
