Carrier Tracking Loop using the Adaptive Two-Stage Kalman Filter for High Dynamic Situations

  • In high dynamic situations, the GPS carrier tracking loop requires a wide bandwidth to track a carrier signal because the Doppler frequency changes more rapidly with time. However, a wide bandwidth allows noises within the bandwidth of the tracking loop to pass through the loop filter. As these noises are used in the numerical controlled oscillator(NCO), the carrier tracking loop of a GPS receiver shows a degraded performance in high dynamic situations. To solve this problem, an adaptive two-stage Kalman filter, which offers the NCO a less noisy phase error, can be used. This filter is based on a carrier phase dynamic model and can adapt to an incomplete dynamic model and a quickly changed Doppler frequency. The performance of the proposed tracking loop is verified by several simulations.

  • In this paper, an frequency tracking algorithm for weak signal tracking is proposed. The proposed frequency tracking algorithm uses a FMS (Fast Minus Slow) discriminator for frequency error estimation. This frequency tracking algorithm shows good frequency estimation performance under weak signal condition and is a computationally efficient for embedded software GNSS receiver. The software GNSS receiver implementing the proposed weak signal tracking algorithms could track GPS signal down to - 159dBm signal strength in the signal generator test and real GPS signal under dense urban condition.

  • Multipath is an inevitable error source in radio navigation system such as GPS, it causes signal tracking errors such as carrier tracking errors, code tracking errors. Since code tracking error is a dominant error in absolute positioning, this paper focuses on the improvement of code tracking performance. This paper proposes a method that detects the change of autocorrelation function's slope and mitigates the multipath error. Also, this paper shows the performance evaluation results by post-processing the digitized RF samples.

  • 최근 센서 네트워크를 이용하여 특정 환경에서 동물의 행위나 반응 등을 모니터링하고, RFID 기술을 이용하여 동물 이력을 추적하거나 동물을 식별하는 연구가 진행되고 있다. 그리고 GPS 기술을 동물에 적용하여 애완견 도난 방지이나 관리 등에 대해 연구하고 있다. 그러나 아직 GPS, RFID, 센서 네트워크를 이용하여 동물원에서 일반 사용자나 관리자를 대상으로 지능적인 서비스를 제공하는 연구는 미흡하다. 따라서 본 논문에서 GPS, RFID, 센서를 동물원에 적용하여 동물 상태를 추적하는 지능적인 서비스를 제안한다. 이를 위해 먼저 동물 상태 추적 서비스 시나리오를 제시하고, 이 서비스를 제공하기 위한 시스템 구성을 작성한다. 제시된 동물 상태 추적 서비스는 GPS, RFID, 센서를 이용하여 동물의 현재 위치, 체온, 사진 등의 상태 정보를 실시간으로 제공하고, 또한 동물이 우리를 이탈할 경우 위치와 상태를 알고 추적할 수 있다. 더불어 제시한 서비스 시나리오에 따른 동물 상태 추적 시스템의 프로토타입을 구현하고 실험하여 동작됨을 확인한다.

GPS를 이용한 차량 추적 시스템의 설계 및 구현 (The Design and Implementation of Tracking the Vehicle over the GPS system)

  • A system of tracking a vehicle collects the vehicle location and then transmits the data into a GIS server in order to provide several service areas. An ODU built in the vehicle savesa GPS information data and communicates with the RSU installed in the road over the wave technology. The collected data in RSU is transmitted into the GIS serverand is stored. The system based on the collected GPS data in each vehicle is providing useful and various services between RSU and OBU. In this paper indicates that the system is designed in 2 phasesbased on the collected GPS data. The result comparing to process of GPS data created in 1 phase and 2 phase over the Web GIS service indicates that the capability of process of the GPS data in 2 phase is enhanced in "50.88% ~ 51.81%". Therefore, when the accident is happened the system of tracking the vehicle over GPS tech not only receives the information properly but also provides the emergence rescue services.

APPLICABLE TRACKING DATA ARCS FOR NORAD TLE ORBIT DETERMINATION OF THE KOMPSAT-1 SATELLITE USING GPS NAVIGATION SOLUTIONS

  • NORAD Two Line Element (TLE) is very useful to simplify the ground station antenna pointing and mission operations. When a satellite operations facility has the capability to determine NORAD type TLE which is independent of NORAD, it is important to analyze the applicable tracking data arcs for obtaining the best possible orbit. The applicable tracking data arcs for NORAD independent TLE orbit determination of the KOMPSAT-1 using GPS navigation solutions was analyzed for the best possible orbit determination and propagation results. Data spans of the GPS navigation solutions from 1 day to 5 days were used for TLE orbit determination and the results were used as Initial orbit for SGP4 orbit propagation. The operational orbit determination results using KOMPSAT-1 Mission Analysis and Planning System(MAPS) were used as references for the comparisons. The best-matched orbit determination was obtained when 3 days of GPS navigation solutions were used. The resulting 4 days of orbit propagation results were within 2 km of the KOMPSAI-1 MAPS results.

  • 최근 GPS가 탑재된 스마트폰의 보급이 늘어나면서 위치 기반 서비스가 빠르게 성장해 왔다. 위치조회의 방법은 크게 GPS를 이용한 위치 조회 서비스, 네트워크 위치 조회 서비스, 하이브리드 위치조회 서비스가 있다. 사용자 또는 제 3자가 위치 조회를 요청하였을 경우 사용자의 스마트폰에 장착된 소형 GPS 모듈을 조회하여 제공하여 준다. 하지만 GPS 모듈의 경우 실내에서는 취약하므로 만약 조회한 스마트폰의 위치가 실내에 있다면 Wi-Fi, 모바일 네트워크를 이용하여 위치를 조회하여 제공한다. 본 논문에서는 GPS 기반 위치 조회, 네트워크 기반 위치 조회, 하이브리드 위치 조회를 소개 및 비교 분석한다.

우간다에서의 고급 정보통신기술 수용도 연구 : GIS/GPS 고릴라 추적 시스템 사례 (A Study on User Adoption of Advanced ICTs in Uganda : Focused on GIS/GPS Gorilla Tracking System)

  • Uganda is a country blessed with the biggest number of mountain Gorillas in the whole world. These animals contribute at least 12% in revenue generation to the Tourism sector through tracking by both local and foreign tourists who pay for the tracking permits. However, Gorilla tracking is also a big challenge even in the presence of highly skilled and well-trained game rangers. Development and implementation of a secure Computer and Mobile based Gorilla Tracking (GT) system that uses GIS and GPS technologies would be the most ideal technology to use. Therefore, this study aimed to find out the critical factors that would affect the Behavioral Intention of the would-be users to successfully decide to use such GIS/GPS-GT system. We used the existing UTAUT model to integrate six factors such as Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Employee Peer Influence, Facilitating Conditions, Behavioral Intention and System Use. However, Infrastructure Availability and Non-Technical Facilitating Conditions were added to reflect Ugandan ICT context. This amended UTAUT model was used to carry out the survey. The questionnaire was emailed to 220 government employees in the fields of ICT, Tour and Travel, Environmental Groups officials and Farmers who garden near the game reserves. A total of 133 were obtained fully completed, whereas 127 were deemed usable thus yielding a response rate of 58%. The analysis results show that except for non-technical facilitating conditions, effort expectancy, peer influence, performance expectancy and infrastructure availability positively affects behavioral Intention to use GIS/GPS-GT. This indicates that people in Uganda don't bother about regulations and rules in regard to using information system. As long as the system does what they want it to, anything else does not matter. As an employee in an organization is told to use a system by their supervisor, they have no objection to otherwise they risk losing their job. This implies that, supervisors have a great responsibility in the process of developing, implementing and using the system in Uganda.

GPS L1/갈릴레오 E1 복합신호처리를 통한 위치정확도 향상 연구 (A Study on Enhanced Accuracy using GPS L1 and Galileo E1 Signal Combined Processing)

  • 본 논문은 GPS L1신호와 갈릴레오 E1 신호를 복합 신호처리를 통한 위치정확도 성능향상 연구결과를 제시하였다. GNSS 수신기에서의 신호획득 및 추적과정의 성능 향상시키기 위해 복수개의 누적기, 판별기 및 루프 필터 모듈을 적용하였고, 소프트웨어 측정 결과와 하드웨어 측정결과를 성능 비교하였다, 또한 추적과정에 대한 성능비교는 정확도와 민감도 측면에서만 다루었으며 갈릴레오 E1 신호처리를 위한 DLL(Delay Lock Loop) 판별기는 power early late 타입을 적용하여 성능을 검증하였다.

GPS와 비전시스템을 이용한 무인 골프카의 자율주행 (Autonomous Traveling of Unmanned Golf-Car using GPS and Vision system)

  • Path tracking of unmanned vehicle is a basis of autonomous driving and navigation. For the path tracking, it is very important to find the exact position of a vehicle. GPS is used to get the position of vehicle and a direction sensor and a velocity sensor is used to compensate the position error of GPS. To detect path lines in a road image, the bird's eye view transform is employed, which makes it easy to design a lateral control algorithm simply than from the perspective view of image. Because the driving speed of vehicle should be decreased at a curved lane and crossroads, so we suggest the speed control algorithm used GPS and image data. The control algorithm is simulated and experimented from the basis of expert driver's knowledge data. In the experiments, the results show that bird's eye view transform are good for the steering control and a speed control algorithm also shows a stability in real driving.
